Not quite that simple Stoney. Without going out to check my sled, I'm pretty certain they started numbering at 1 last year. This year they started numbering at 5001. You need to subtract 5000 from this years permit number to get a true idea of how many were sold.

Well that explains why I purchased on day one and I am in the 9000 range. I was surprised to see so many of us buying on day one. Maybe the first 5k are the day permits?

I did some digging from last year on a thread where permits were discussed and this is what was mentioned about the permit numbers for the 2024 season.

grover_yyz bought on day 1 for 2024 season and he was possibly permit 4000+ based on the permit numbers starting 5001 for 2024 season.

sledguy74 & ontariof7 bought on day 1 for 2025 season and they are 302 and less.

So possibly a huge gap between permits bought last year and this year on day 1.

Since processing times seems fairly quick, I think your assumption of sales are down is a safe bet or some people are just waiting until next window to charge credit card 🤷🏽‍♂️

I think you have 2 months to save the $50.00, they don’t have a cap/limit or are going to run out, so I think there is no urgency or panic to purchase.

the only number that matters is the final one.

Hopefully we can get some cold and early snow and people will spurge on permits to ride at Xmas break. Hopefully this is year!

Sure it's allot of boxes hope it's not just for kicks. No snow removal this winter?

Only my own driveway.

Insurance bill came today too so now I've invested my first $2k into the sled season. Next is preseason service for the sleds.

It is one month to save $80.00 by the looks of it - $214 to Nov 1 vs. $294 that is regular fee.

After Nov 1 it is $244.

Then full pop after Dec 1.

Agreed, what matter is the number in the end, but the early buy helps to get the clubs what is needed to get things rolling for the start up.

Flip side is those that may buy after the discount is decreased, means more money in the OFSC/clubs pockets....but there must be a magic number where that makes overall sense based on number of permits sold and at what price.

Still have the three sleds I assume at that amount......

Reminds me that I should get my renewal soon as well.

Well.    I was caught in a weak moment and ordered 1 permit.    I never even used it / stuck it on last year and ended up giving it to a buddy who was going to Cochrane at the end of the season.   Hopefully this season is better.

Still got the 3. Hoping to get a couple friends out riding if we get descent snow in the south this winter.

You have a point been awhile since rap tourer has been available too. I was hoping this year would be it.
I have had lots of great sledding around hailburton to Minden area and east to Whitney and pembroke and north to mattawa. This area still usually gets good snow most winters.

I am in Fenelon Falls and to me it has always been good from Minden and north. Kinmount is about the southern edge of the Canadian Shield and where the forest cover starts to be 100%. South of there the forest gets interrupted by farms and development. 20 years ago I used to be near Haliburton village and remembered going south and the snow was always a bit less in Minden and then it dropped the further you went down the rail trail. I remember going down to Lindsay one year and south of Fenelon the trail starts to have dirt patches as there is very little forest cover to keep the sun away.

Southern Ontario all open and you can really notice snow going fast on a sunny day close to zero. Only good news about open area's you can get drifting which helps to build trail base . Been some winters heading out of hailburton village was brutal until I got closer to Whitney hydro line and snow picked up. Dirt and rocks mostly in low snow years too.

I got mine today.     Ending in 48xx.

I received my 1 pass on Tuesday, the day after Scott got his, and my number was 61XX. So lots of people are still believers. Stuck the pass on my sled yesterday, maintenance is complete and I am ready to ride in Ontario only. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas somewhere north of here.

Ordered 2, today. Maybe this year our groomers will move, and the permits will be put on the sleds. Neither turned a track, last season. Ski

Ordered mine on October 20 and got it on October 24th by regular mail.   The permit # is 11054.  That appears to mean that approx. 11,000 early purchase permits were ordered in the first 20 days. Sure hope there is a rush in the last 10 days or groomer frequency may get thin this winter.

I was hesitant on getting my permit early so as not to throw away $400.    Whomever thought this was a good time to increase permit pricing needs to get there heads examined.   FFS, I didn't even hit a trail last year.   I want a do-over.

Understanding that all the pre-work was still done by many volunteers, the grooming costs had to be a fraction of what they were budgeted.

And ya ya, I know they probably planned this increase 2 year ago and had to go through the Ontario government etc etc.     They should have deferred the increase or figured something out.  This is going to hurt our trails that were already hurt by the poor conditions last season.

And I have yet to buy permits.   Maybe I should start a go-fund-me.   That seems to be the thing to do when you feel hard done by.

Could always wait and buy a weekend pass. Two day minimum not sure how much multi day permit is but it might be more then trespassing fine 🤡.  I am guessing multi's will be around 75 dollars a day. Right now it's a big secret!  May as well cough up dough and buy permit early 😎. Only 3 days of riding to break even. We have gone from counting sled season in weeks to days 😆
