I also ordered on the 25th. No notice of shipping, No permits as of yet.

It may not be just Snowmobiling that lobbies for it. ATV trails, Cross Country Skiing, and other activities that traverse private lands. If we give up before we try, it will certainly fail.
-
Could be a simple as Laws to limit liability. That could really help the "Cover our asses" OFSC.
-
LOL Fair point. I hope not.
-
Just because something is the least expensive part of a larger cost does not in itself justify it. I’m not arguing the value of a permit, however if i don't get to ride a single trail, then it has zero value for me. Thats making it hard to justify at any price. I put my $221.50 in the snow slot machine and pulled the lever. Hoping the gamble pays off.

Overall when you look at what it takes to have a trail system, I agree that our permit price is fair. However, when you buy permits and never ride a single meter of OSFC trail, it no longer seems like a good purchase. Like buying $200 snowshoes and never stepping foot in them. Hopefully we will have a better season this year. The more rules that the OFSC keeps placing on the system that creates costs, takes away from the trail system and discourages the generosity of land owners. We have lost to many trails from disrespectful riders and the fear of liability. The Quebec system, for a resident, could be seen as cheaper than Ontario when you consider the inclusion of insurance. The QC government supports its to maintain the tourism. Smart!

It’s not cheap when the trails are closing and the weather doesn’t cooperate.
-
Ahh, you are correct. They increased it last year. Last year I paid $221 too much.
-
And ya ya, I know they probably planned this increase 2 year ago and had to go through the Ontario government etc etc. They should have deferred the increase or figured something out. This is going to hurt our trails that were already hurt by the poor conditions last season. And I have yet to buy permits. Maybe I should start a go-fund-me. That seems to be the thing to do when you feel hard done by.
-
I was hesitant on getting my permit early so as not to throw away $400. Whomever thought this was a good time to increase permit pricing needs to get there heads examined. FFS, I didn't even hit a trail last year. I want a do-over. Understanding that all the pre-work was still done by many volunteers, the grooming costs had to be a fraction of what they were budgeted.

I feel like that's a nearby possibility...

It will obviously be sticking out the back by a fair bit, but you could likely transport it with a 10' utility trailer if it does not have a back gate. That said, 144" track would be preferred for off-trail rising. That's not designed for trails, although can be ridden on trails, it will be harder to turn and maneuver. The depth of the track paddles is also a factor for how it will perform depending on your intended riding.

They don't share because that would cause people not to go. This is why I will never support. IMO they are unethical.

There are many taxes that go into each litre of gasoline. And then the best part is that HST is charged on top of the taxes, including the carbon tax. Also note that the Ontario Government has reduced the PFT by 5.7c per litre until mid-2024. Carbon Tax $0.1431 X 1.13= $0.1617 Here is a breakdown of the taxes on a bulk fuel delivery (Ontario). This happen to be Mid-Grade Ethanol Free.

Most likely would not mind if they are not hearing modified sleds. People want to make loud noise to get attention.... they got it.

The top is where you hope to stay. The bottom is easier this year than many think. I have not been on either, but based on the conditions in the area, I would not venture out without someone that knows the lakes inside out.

Always sad when people decide to leave the sport or just leave the forum. There are a few people on here that are less than friendly at times and the world has become more divided than ever. Its a sad state we are in, but we all need to come together in our common activity, snowmobiling, and focus on having fun, being safe and having a good laugh. Enjoy the trails, enjoy friends.

The issue is that BRP lies about it and is trying to spin it like they are heros.

What an absolute crock of shit! They did not deliver for their Customer and typically could not give a rats ass. Delivering PWCs in August/September, Pontoon boats promised for spring delivery arrived in time for winter storage. They have not delivered anything on time. They are delusional.

Sarah, I have been able to recover your Dad's posts in text format. I found an old database backup. I'll finish cleaning it up and then I'll find a way to get it to you. Marty

It really equates to the removal of competition in the marketplace, Far too much of this in Canada these days.

Knowing Royal, they will exclude anything brands worth buying.
