  1. seeing and hearing the reports of guys riding this southern area is great to see. there is a large fan base there and so many talks over the years of why there are clubs and equipment there, but here you go, went from zero to open trails in a few days! it can happen again, regardless of date on calendar, time will tell.

  2. Just looking at the 14 day forecast. God damn! Most of District 9 just turned red on the ITG while I was looking. Rode 300 kms today. Puts me at over 700 in 6 days. More than I rode all last season.😜

  3. Maybe not! Those wanting out are going to have to give their sleds away. There are already hundreds of good sleds at great prices for sale in southern Ontario. Adding more on the supply side can only further hurt resale prices. Might be better to just keep the sled(s) and adjust your sledding expectations. A rider who has been sledding 4-6000 km per year, might only only get 2-2500 km this year. Similar ratio applies to the more casual low km rider. I had an enjoyable warm up of 70 km out of Fergus last Friday afternoon. Yesterday, out of Elmira, I got another 160 km in decent trail conditions down your way with Mr and Mrs Woodsy. Must embrace small victories like that and stop griping. I guess that's a lot easier to do when I'm not over invested in equipment or emotional anticipation. I will get north a couple of times and that might be all she wrote, but sign me up for the 2025 trail pass as soon as its available. We have always heard that diversification is the key to a financial portfolio. Same for powersports - have something ready to play with come April and use it. Key to happiness!

  4. Left from my buddy's place in St Jacobs. Linwood, Conestogo Lake, Teviotdale for fuel. My buddy wanted a burger from Homestead Resort. Mount Forest just opened enough trail to make it doable. Should have googled them first, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Went to Pebbles in Varney. Awesome buffet. Will be going back. Came back through Palmerston to Listowel for fuel. Rode through Listowel and back down the west side of 86. Everything was in good shape except Palmerston. Harriston, Teviotdale and surrounding area was brutal. Washboard and moguls from the weekend traffic. 20 kph crawl through the entire area. 300 kms day. Rode my Cat. Lent my Mach Z out to an old friend for the day.

  5. Just as an FYI, trailers are not supposed to park in the parking lot closest to the trail. Park in the area on the right as you come down the hill driving in. Bad scene last Saturday as trailers parked all over the big parking lot while the Rod & Gun was having a Wing Night fund raiser starting at 3PM and no where to park cars. If the trailer parking area I mentioned is full, drive down the driveway past the trail and there are areas you can park down there.

  10. Made it home last couple evenings on fumes and currently feel pretty beat up. lol Open fields have been the only good trails consistantly. Bush trails have beat the runners pretty off the skis. Came home up the railbed from Markdale last night and they whooped out the whole way. You ride 10 mile an hour or 50+ mile an hour or you get beat to crap. Anything in between and you need a sports bra. Let me add that I am neither a woman or a big lad. Had winds that made for some drifting☺️ and rode in freezing rain for a couple hours. Still put a smile on my face regardless. We definately need ALOT more snow. Even took a couple pics this time out. lol. Not really a picture guy. Bad pic of my iced up windshield

  14. I got out yesterday as well. I started in Erin and went north to Orangeville, then looped up towards Creemore. There are some very nice trails in the Mansfield and Creemore area! Lightly snowing most of the day. Railed south from Dundalk was smooth whole way down to Orangeville aside from some minor drifting in spots. The wind was blowing pretty good so there were some rocky areas , not to many though. Groomer was out south of Orangeville but more snow is needed especially in bush as previous poster mentioned.

  16. No the sled club folded a few years ago. No newbees to take over. The last wonderful gentleman and his wife to put all the trails in for them was 74 years old when he retired. Elmira club took over the trail from the north and St. Clements took over the trail to the west.

  18. I am thinking its almost a better idea to have the sleds down here than in Huntsville- seems this area -or the area just north of KW -etc. - can turn and be able to be rideable so quickly - given my very limited schedule - that might be better

  20. My buddies kid sent me the pic and I thought it was Friday night. My mistake. We stopped at the same spot on Sunday am and all of us commented about the 5-6 Miller Lite cans laying in the culvert.

  25. Black Creek Outfitters - Updates Our first visit of the season to Black Creek Outfitters on highway 129, 1 hour north of Thessalon today. We cleared trees and brush along the D201F and broke trail from Aubrey Falls Trading Post to just south of the former Johnny's TruckStop. From that point north, local fisherman have cleared the trail right up to Seabrook Lake. We went to Seabrook Lake and back, then stopped in at Black Creek Outfitters for an enjoyable lunch.

  31. Either way when it ends up in court and the video is shown it would be a travesty of justice to rule against the truck driver in this situation.

  32. Aside from size, the sled started his turn 150 feet or more before the corner and that is just wrong. JMHO

  34. ? Sled is at fault 100%. Drivers a total dumbass imo. He's darn lucky as mentioned above that was a real trucker and not some humbolt dolt.

  36. Its recorded and if something bad had happened there is no doubt that the recording would be viewed by the police. The sledder didn't look behind before crossing lanes. The sledder did not cross the road at 90 degrees. The sledder should have/ could have continued up the right haaand side to the road crossing and there, he could have/ should have gotten himself situated properly to cross the road properly at the road crossing. Above all this he rode up the wrong side of the road and right across the side road again while on the wrong side of the road. This is a good example of why more and more responsible truckers and trucking companies are installing camera's in their trucks.

  37. We dropped in Atwood Saturday morning and on trails by 9am. Great day overall. Decided to try and stay away from heavy traffic areas. Most trails were great in the AM. By time we looped back down around, things were getting fairly tough. Good day all around. Little over 300kms on the dial today. Also hit this milestone today. Bought the sled new in 2012. Motor hasn’t been touched. Still has around 120psi each side.

  38. Better yet, stop and be sure. Night riding years ago, group of 3, me leading. I looked over my shoulder and turned left assuming the 2 headlights behind me were my companions. I swear I felt the heat and smelled the antifreeze off the ol' pickup grill. I could hear his tires locked up on the hard pack as went by. It happened so fast I didnt have time to shyte myself. I felt bad for the driver because he did. I got a quick view of what the bug sees. It wont ever happen a second time and I still remember the only thought in my thick head.....hmmmm 72 Ford.

  40. You should see how the a%%hats in long nose petes drive on 17. It aint the truck, its the driver. Justins imports are now doing over dimensional loads...let me tell you, its scary. They run the load onto oncoming, and illegally run after dark.
