  1. That dead horse you speak of should be replaced with a new horse . Reports get tossed into a box and put on a shelf . The snowmobile community needs to have a presence trail side and have some ability to levy punishment. Peer pressure from other snowmobilers goes along way I have personally witnessed this many times . OPP can't be everywhere , club members can target trouble areas . I will not be filing any reports but if l see someone being an idiot I'm going to let him or her know . Last week while out doing trail work I ? two riders about permits both had them in their pockets after a brief conversation the permits magical became placed on the windshield That's my approach some my not agree . not meant to offend anyone .

  2. Yes I knew that was coming. She called me yesterday to get the club's perspective. I thought it best to have her talk to the prez, Steve Surprised by how much the MPP for the area is onside with this.

  8. From today Looking for your house @Bigfish It turns out I wasn't supposed to be here. RLSD #504 was closed & ends in the middle of nowhere. The tracks I was following seemed to be very organized until I got south of CR #2 & ended up in a farm with some horses. Talking to some people about the one Cydesdale (named Ollie). They didn't seem too upset that I was there. When asked about the snowmobile trail, the 1 lady said that snowmobiling was allowed in the filed I had ridden out of. When I turned around & went west, the trail petered out here (the tracks just turned around. Maybe a partial tour this season. Heritage Line over the trail north of Keene. 9. Yep, I had one. 1975 Elan 300SS. It only had one carb. Slide rail skid jacked way up and it was fast for the day. Over 70mph on the gun when the windshield would collapse inward. Ah, life was so much simpler then haha

  13. Enforcement, Enforcement, Enforcement! Signs don't work, preaching to the choir doesn't work. Most people on these forums or who follow club pages. I would think people know by now to stay on trail and are abiding snowmobilers. The only way, and this is coming from my contacts from different police agencies is to report, report report! Whether its a club, club volunteer or just a friendly snowmobiler witness, to off trail riding or trespassing, report it. The O.P.P and different police agencies need these reports (data) to build a case for more funding. We can all agree the trail patrol program being watered down, and the S.T.O.P program being discontinued is a blow to how we protect and enforce the trails. It's not coming back in the forseeable future. We are beating a dead horse on that matter.. So the only way at this time is to report, report, report! I would hope that all people friendly to organized snowmobiling would take this approach, and in know way am I speaking on behalf of the OFSC. I am speaking as a friend to organized snowmobiling...

  15. I'll have to check to make sure, but I am fairly certain the Everest here is aluminum. Should take a picture of it beside the brothers 19 Blizzard, but would have to do some rearranging.

  16. Dad's 78/79 Everest 440 has the same decals on it too, but never went "folded windshield fast". 89 MX would though, right around 130 kph. LoL, good times.

  18. Ran it on Tuesday. Main track was beat down like the 401. Was open through the narrows on south end. More sketchy on west side of islands. Lots of fish huts out.

  20. Thanks Slomo, I should have thought of that myself. The large rectangle is the building lot and the small rectangle is the lake access lot.

  24. Had a quite a bunch of them that the engine went down on. There were a few that worked pretty well and I was lucky enough to have one. My buddy had one that worked a little better than mine top end wise.

  25. Exactly, were any of those ever purchased by Ontario Districts/Clubs although almost impossible with the industrial groomer mandate which doesn’t suit in all circumstances. I still have nightmares about the SS-RSC sinking their BR on D trail on the return trip after turning around at Trout Lake and heading back south to Birch’s Road. Skandics or similar aren’t suitable for cutting the moguls on heavily moguled trails such as this which is almost continuous swamps and ponds.

  30. Any mother daughter combos like my experience the other day?. ... I had to of course slow down, like really slow, you know, being courteous. It was a sun visor lifting slow ride by, and a nice wave..

  37. Thank you to all those above, Eric and others who have reported on D9 conditions this winter. I was serious when I said I was looking for info for non OC friends to help with their planned Wednesday ride. I have not been feeling well (not Covid 19) with age related physical discomfort, so was going to skip a ride. Then, by Tuesday afternoon, 3 out of 4 had bailed on my #1 riding buddy. I had to step in to save his ride. We had two locations in mind for or ride. We were leaving out of Mt Forest and we were having outdoor lunch with a non sledding friend in Kincardine. This ended up being our route: MF, Holstein, Ayton,Neustadt, Chesley, Eden Grove, Tiverton, Kincardine, Little Egypt, Teeswater(fuel), Mildmay, Neustadt and back to MF as we left. Great ride, given that in much of that route there weren' 4 inches of standing snow. Despite that the fields were very well groomed. Most snow we saw was in the Teeswater/Mildmay area. For sure there was snirt and even dirt(small patches) in some bush sections and along a couple of roads, but who's complaining - we are snowmobiling in southern Ontario in February. Kudos to the clubs, district and groomer operators. The next couple of weeks look good for our recreational pursuit. Get out thru the week if you can. We saw other sledders, but not many all day. Thanks again OCers for helping with our route.

  40. Just slowing down to a crawl, giving them lots room and wave will do the sport a great deal, maybe even catch on with the young'uns. Today I came across a fellow walking his dog from behind neither of them turned around as I approached with a nice quiet sled (he had ear buds in as it turned out) so I just crawled passed them to I didn't startle them, I felt good that I didn't scare him and I am sure they felt the same.

  41. Same for me pretty much always. I slow down to a crawl and move over as far as possible...just common sense.

  42. Camp Northland, whose property the trail ran through to Haliburton Lake Rd., had issues with the OFSC insurance policy for landowners. They pulled the land use agreement until there were improvements made to the policy, and here we are... Same situation existed at Camp Towhee ( B Trail near West Guilford ) The trail was almost closed until they found that B trail was old "Legacy" trail and belonged to the County. It was a "close" call.

  43. Drove up to have a look at Hali lake on Friday. No stakes as of then, I have said it before, if that lake is not staked... DON'T GO. It is too bad we lost the way in through Moose and Eagle, they are long frozen safe. Hali Lake is unsafe and unpredictable in cold years, it just got into the minus 20's here the last few days, should set up soon. There is no issue with PHU boundaries, that problem is where HCSA, Maple Leaf, and Opeongo meet (Whitney) and where Paudash and Maple Leaf meet south of Lake St Peter. Livin'

  46. Hmmmmm? Let’s see, a flight arrived from Jamaica last Thursday and every passenger on board tested positive for Covid. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there to welcome them back as I had to work. I am doing my part to make sure the public sector workers staying at home to avoid this dreaded Chinese produced virus can still receive full pay and benefits paid for by the Canadian private sector workers.
