Need an old Indy to have a great skipper. No it never sank that day. I think it was close to 500 feet of open water that day in March. Never owned a Ford but that aluminum body does have some strong points like slower oxidation then steel 😎.

GM used to make some of their bumpers out of aluminum to save weight in the 70's/80's. Dissimilar metal corrosion sets in, nasty stuff. Give them Fords a bit of time and watch what happens

Open up the pinch weld in the door bottoms and you can get a quart of milk when the door drain holes plug up. There is no fixing that. RAMSOMAIR
Same as steel pinch welds. Turn to mush. They are all junk.
skidooboy
you need to protect them with a lanolin (fluid film, woolwax, surface shield), or petroleum based corrosion inhibitor yearly. they do not come from the factory "rust proof". we spend close to 100,000 on these things now, in some cases. take a few hours, and less than 100 a year, and coat everything that isnt the exhaust, and brakes. otherwise after a few years of salt, brine, beet juice on the roads, they will be a rust hole, shitty looking paperweight. crispy
Ive had good luck with Krown yearly. The theory is that it rinses through which is evident by all the black staining at the seams. Its a bit ugly my wife doesn't care for it but it makes the trucks last
RAMSOMAIR
Yep, I have cases of Fluid Film I'm about to use on the new Mega Cab!

I do foam salt spray then application in spring. Leave vehicle in cold all winter no heated garage helps too 😎.

I just leave winter tires on it all year now. Mostly stored in summer months but it’s easier to back trailer into sites with jeep.

skidooboy
Kellsport pro gun and a gallon (kit) goes a long way. approx 150 usd, then when you need another gallon of sprayable material it is like 50 bucks. Ski
RAMSOMAIR
I get the Fluid Film for free. They are growing it away by the case. Came in kits for all 42 turbines and only use 2 cans per.

Still holding strong 370,000 km in. May look at doing that this year. Used to be I wore the body out before the drivetrain. Verdict is out on what will wear out first. Pretty impressed so far. Was a GM guy, but this ford is working out ok. Just stupid fixes like you get with any of them.

If you don’t krown them wiring will go I find. Then you have big issues sometimes. Every since I been using known no more issues with wiring or trailer connections either 😎. Most likely keep it till it falls apart, as I do with most of my vehicles.

I keep everything until it falls apart pretty much too or transmission goes, knock on wood. 😎 been doing it every spring which seems to be best time for product and to grab extra discounts since krown always slow in April. They rinse salt off too for me with that salt rinse they have.
Canuck
You guys with the ' solid body ...no floorboard rot thanks to Krown ' remind me of Fred Flintstone and his awesome vehicle. 2013 Toyota, Tundra $275 K, no Krown, still good. Will do it this year tho. Thanks for the advice.
