  6. Stayed in New liskeard last night then continued trailering to cochrane this am. parked at Thrift lodge (staying next two nights) and headed out up to do the abitibi loop. on the trail 10am ish after filling up sleds, gas caddy and 2 extra empty 4l jugs of oil with hi test - as was really worried abilitbi camp would be packed , potentially run out of fuel , and wasn’t wanting to stop in today (As cochrane is packed...) First 40 km out of town was a little bumpy for cochrane - but flat white carpet mostly after that. ice road still at 100cm! Saw two groomers today. Dumped the 8l in at 85km mark in the 850. made it to the canyon - 145 km, NO WATER flowing ! fast boring (as no powder) hydroline run down to smooth rock - great late lunch at the restaurant (chicken wrap and poutine!) 230.2km to that point. The 900 ACE made it the entire way with one bar to spare on gauge. very bumpy A trail back to Cochrane. Was fast, as had to keep it 80-105km/hr to skip over the bumps. 300.2 km for the very short day. checked in really early this aft at Triftlodge. Unloaded truck, drove to get some beer, cleaned off tracks/adjusted suspension, locked up and covered by 5pm. early relaxing night tonight as plan is the head to Hearst and back tomorrow. I can’t stopping thinking about a blacked out XCR now thanks to UsedtoSkidoo!!!!

  8. Looking for some other photos and thought the younger members might find these interesting. Did the Tour of the Line trip from the Soo (March 30/31, 2003). Waiting @ Hearst for the train to depart Train would back up west past the 'Y' & then proceed to the Soo. On the trip back saw a couple of sleds on the trail near Hawk Jct. In 2006 we did the Tracks to Trails trip Loading in the Soo Parking in the garage (my buddy's SRX) Mattice Clubhouse Opaz cluhouse. Not sure if there is anything in place to indicate the building was beside the trail or not. Bambino's/Mooseland I don't recall it looking that good when I was in to pay for fuel prior to '06. It was pretty sketchy in the restaurant part.

  12. Another prime example of some non elected twit causing financial hardship to hundreds of businesses and citizens of these districts. Hard to believe his compensation package is just slightly south of the train wreck we have steering the Canadian ship.

  13. That good logic killed just over 500K people instead of the 200K it could have killed. I am thankful that our leaders think differently than the Texas and Oklahoma governors.

  14. Real leadership is what we're missing. Common sense happening south of the border, enough of the nonsense.

  20. Fill up in SRF and head north. Not as big of a top up @ the trailer. Only time we've run the west side was coming east from Kap or Hearst. Rest of our trips to the Canyon were day trips out of Cochrane.

  21. Depending if you need fuel at the canyon. Twice the distance to the canyon from Cochrane vs from Smoothrock Falls.

  23. Hey, probill...it was great to meet and chat with you at the Advantage as well. Glad you and your wife got to enjoy all of the local Kap and Hearst loops. Would love to connect with you again next year...perhaps up north again, and down here in Simcoe/Muskoka on our local trail system. As revrnd has rightly pointed out, I can't take any credit for his ice hammer, although I do like to spread the word about how useful it is.

  33. No Transports on the trail today. Almost ran over a pine martin coming in the A trail hydro line coming into Hearst. Poor guy didn't know what to do, when he had a pack of 900T's running the C note at him...

  36. Hi revrnd...just got back from Kap this afternoon. Great to meet and have a chat with you and irReverent. Thanks again for the information you gave us on all the local trails. We had a great 2 days in Hearst on the 165, 163, 115, 171, 159, 153 etc. all trails were in great shape. Friday we did almost 200 miles on those trails and only saw 1 sled!! I can tell you that irReverent's hammer got a real workout!! Hope to meet up again with you guys again next year. Let me know when you will be sledding in my area.

  39. Last day on the trails & still snowing. 187 klicks. Rode west towards Opaz on TOP A & then took the L123 back to Moonbeam. @Arctic JC we turned onto the L119 (east end) around 12 noon. Hope you guys had a good ride west. The Nursery Loop was a bit of a mess lots of sled traffic & lots of snow. Caught up to the groomer on the top of the L125. Top speed wasn't as good as the other day. A little snack on TOP A before heading back to Kap before loading up. Still a but blustery & Hwy 11 was wet. Trailer in the background is a couple that arrived Tues' afternoon. The following pics are on the L123 The little cabin that certain OC riders have said doesn't exist... Northeast corner of L125/Beardmore Loop. Looking west on TOP A @ L125 intersection. TOP A on the right L125 to the left Looking north to L125 Bridge on TOP A between L125 & L135 Back in Kap, getting ready to load the sleds. All in all a good trip, just wish we had some blue skies for better pics.

  40. My neighbour’s 600etec doesn’t like the trails up here. It decided to shut down on the L159, so we towed it out to Val Côté. OF7 met us at the side of the road with his truck and trailer, and we brought the sled back to Hearst.
