I thought I saw a post about Tall Pines staking a lake too - not on the trail map though. I know it is a painful slow start, but I do not think it is that far off from last year.

stoney
Todays ride was from shawinigan to kanawata, around 340km. Great day on the trails….most were fast and good, but some rough stuff too. Ran into quite a few Americans.
stoney
Another awesome day riding just over 400km from Kanawata to Lac Faillon. Trails were fast and wide with a few bumps and fresh powder thrown in just for fun. Few pictures from the day.
Trackside
Is anybody here riding Haliburton Forest Saturday February 4th? My riding partner is no longer available, looking for a riding buddy, especially with the very cold temps.
scottyr
I just got back from 5 days in Quebec. We saddlebagged it to a different lodge/hotel every night. Trails were "good". Not amazing, but better than what we have in the South.

Always more enjoyable staying at the lodges vs motels. Great pictures. We were suspose to go to Mont Laurier this weekend for 4 days with friends but the wife couldn’t get off work. With the forecasted cold l’m kinda glad. We will go next week .

stoney
Landed in lebel sur quevillon today, no pictures but man is trail 93 ever a fast trail with lots of rollers! Looking at all the other posts sounds like many folks are finally getting some miles on or will be soon. Great to see all the sledding updates! Seeing a lot more colour on the OFSC map too, should be a great February!

scottyr
Weird that they get smog warnings in the winter? Apparently it’s from all the wood stoves.

stoney
We met up with a four older gentleman that were all family at the warm up shack on trail 93 on there way to chiboug from starting point in RN I believe, three sleds were big expeditions with 900 ace motors and one was a 2005 MXZ600, I don’t think any of them were carrying gas. They were planning on completing the loop like us and end destination was somewhere near Gatineau - big ride for them, but shocking to see the one guy on the old girl out that way and no gas in sight. hopefully they have no issues heading south on 93 to lake Saint John.

Hopefully their plan was to take a couple of windshield washer jugs of gas each with them from Chibougamau. Maybe they had easier trigger fingers than you young guys. A couple of the expeditions did have those monster size luggage container on the back, the ones I think a small person could sleep in. Yeah, friday and Saturday morning look pretty frickin cold. I got frostbite real good the one year heading out of New Liskeard in those temps - not fun. stoney
Tonight will be -33 and feels like -48 here just north of La Tuque….not far from relais 22 where we had lunch today but they were fully booked tonight. Staying at a beautiful camp called Lac Dumoulin….small island on a lake Dumoulin. And we met up with those brothers and uncles we saw on the way to Chibougamau, the old girl MXZ made it, with some fuel. They had lunch at relais 22 and staying the night here too. It’s funny they are doing the trip the old school way, trail signage and I think maps - needless to stay they are doing a lot of backtracking. I showed one of the guys at dinner tonight the BRP app to help them navigate things a bit better.
signfan
Why would they be backtracking if they have paper maps? Awesome that everyone is getting out riding.

Older gentleman that I think rely more on there stubbornness that they think they know, but realize they don’t Plus there are lots of trails with little signage and more than one option to go, so easy to do. Just sitting haveing breakfast with them, they are a funny group.
