95rxl650
I already regret selling my sled this week. Atleast I dont have to choose between riding and going to work. Riding was winning out most days.

So we spent 4 hours carrying them out. No more sled until these things leave this week 🤣

That kind of bad timing/luck is usually my trick. 1
Strong Farmer
I always wanted to sled pennisla. Who wants to go before it's gone 🐥!
Wildman
I don't have any missed opportunities yet, the only part of the province I have yet to ride is west of Red Rock, lake of the woods is on the bucket list. For years the D trail on the north shore of Superior had eluded us, it wasn't completely open for many years due to low snow conditions, in 2009 the stars all aligned and the trip was completed and it was an amazing ride. The following year much of that district was dismantled and the D trail has never been complete since, so that was almost a missed opportunity. Organized snowmobiling has changed so much, I still ride but not on OFSC trails, gone back to the grass roots and it is so much more enjoyable. I think the haydays where 10y, 2000-2010, the organization was really rolling and for the most part riders where respectable, then the wheels came loose and things changed, the whole deal is off the rails now.

Be prepared for a good work out....once you're north of Lions Head it full on tight twisting blind turns with barely enough room for 2 sleds to pass in opposite directions. I've done it a couple times, and have no interest in repeating it, especially if you are the lead rider
wrightonalan
Yes its very tight around tober ,nice to do it once .My 4 stroke felt very heavy lol Some places you cant even do 50 kph .😁 Some nice lookouts in the park

Sneaks
Only 'missed opportunities' I have were a dumb one: 1. wanted to sled to work from home, just to say I did it. It was on the edge of waterloo, and would have been all shoulder and ditch banging, but totally doable back when we got lots of snow. No longer work there, and work from home, so from home to work is me walking 10' 2. The still on the list one is do the RAP, which in Feb 2016 a buddy and I planned to ride from his cottage in dorset and do it, on my 95 XLT and his similar vintage MXZ ('96?) unfortunately I had suspension problems on trail the first day, and so we popped over to Rickward's who were able to pull my skid and fix the one axel/sheared bolts (WOOT!) but noticed my shock was done and the mount had some pretty good cracks in it. So we decided might not be the best idea to continue, an instead we went up to the ice caves as had never been, then back to his cottage, and then rode to whitney (Mad musher!) and back the next day. When we checked our mileage we basically had done roughly the same mileage as doing the RAP. So we would have been fine, but we had an amazing trip anyways, so it's not at all a regret, just that we had a buddy ice fishing on the ottawa river, as a potential save had we run into issues along the top so timing was aligned/that's the missed opportunity. Just means RAP still on the list. Changed the skid out to one from a parts machine, and am still running the same XLT, which just crossed 10K miles this weekend still on original engine (and 90% original parts.) Still best trip same buddy and I did was riding to his cottage in dorset from Waterloo Rod and gun, and then back the next day on those same two machines a few years before this trip ~950km round trip if I recall...
Fuse6
Biggest regret l have is not doing saddle bag trips sooner then we did. Busy raising kids in the 90s and early 2000. Got back into sledding in 2006. ln 2008 a group invited me to go to Quebec with them to Mont Laurier for a few days. Continued going to Quebec once a year to various spots always day tripping. ln 2017 we did our first saddle bag trip doing the Gaspe. Next year saddle bagged New Brunswick. Have been saddle bagging Quebec and NB ever since. Two trips a winter with two different groups of guys then a couples trip every March break. Trying to day tripping from one location seems the loops are either to long or to short. l like saddle bagging. Like heading out in the morning and having a destination as an objective. Saddle bagging will cover a lot of miles in a day so don’t get trapped in an area with poor grooming, broken down groomer, short of volunteers etc. Always enjoy planning the trips and exploring new areas never seen before.
volunteer2
Speaking of saddle bag rides we are that group too. One regret and not that big lol is to ride from the garage and go AWAL in d5 and d9. You know just ride and call ahead for a motel or something and not come home for the night. And fast forward 7 of us are saddle bagging from my place Thursday morning and as the song says. With no particular place to go
volunteer2
Oh and 1 more thing on that is we just got back from QC and started planning another ride there and are moving it to March to do this d5 d9 ride so thanks to all the club members and groomers and mother nature so we can pull this off

With no particular place to go Best way to go. I do it solo all the time with no phone or gps, just my bank card and emergency cash. I try to stay above 1/2 tank of fuel but that doesnt always work out. I've pulled into many hotels/motels over the years with rubber arms and cramped hands, been lost more times than I can count, knocked on farmers doors for fuel and directions and met some exceptional people. I figure short of getting banged up in the middle of nowhere, whats the worst that could happen other than a long walk. D4, 5 and 9 has been my backyard for alot of years and my wife stopped worrying long ago. Well....she says she did. lol

He has a brother in Wiarton. He wants to ride from home to his brother's then to somewhere else then be back home on day 3. This next couple weeks are the time to do it in southern Ontario. I've never ridden in Quebec. I got invited to go with 5 other guys this coming weekend. But I backed out today. Been sick since Thursday and not feeling any better today. I couldn't see my self getting in the cab of a truck with 3 other guys on Thursday morning. So that is my current Regret. I haven't been on my sled since last Saturday and likely won't get on it until at least the end of this week. Terrible. 1

95rxl650
I left Owen Sound on a 2005 Polaris xcsp700 at 4am one morning with intentions of being home for breakfast . I called my wife at 8pm from her brothers place between Gravenhurst and Bracebridge and asked/begged her to bring the trailer. I was wrecked. Glad she's a good sport. She just laughed said see you in the morning. 2

Been a bad last couple of weeks for me just as things have started to turn really good by all accounts. Feeling like crap on and off for a bit battling something and then my back started to act up a couple of weeks ago playing hockey, nothing new, just happens from time to time which means stop doing the usually stuff while it returns to normal. would love to get the kids and myself out for some local rides, just can’t yet. So having some regrets about now…lol

Ya, it’s one of those things that just lingers….you think it’s heading in good direction, but nope, not quite yet ready to let go! For me it’s always felt the worst first thing and then gets better as day goes on.

Tough getting moving in the morning, start feeling better in the afternoon.
