Could be named in litigation as the vehicle owner - pretty common practice when a SOC is issued in MVA's when the driver is not the registered owner.

A close friend got named on the job site of a local church a few years back. Anyone and everyone got named. He had nothing to do with the issues but it still cost him a days work and a grand to a lawyer. Sat in a halway for half a day just to told he can go home now.

Just got off the phone with Intact and have my proof of insurance.

I did however find out that I was wrong on the monthly payment. My total is $249 but only untill my renewal 5 months from now. My monthly is $50 but I can cancel at any time with no penalty. Confirmed by both Morgan and Michelle based out of the Midland office. Depending on the date of cancellation I may get billed the extra month but will be reimbursed for the days not writen.

If I were to add collision and comp. my rate would be $421. Based on a 2014 zr7000 limited.

On a sled you should run collodion and comp, if you have any assets.
I wouldn’t ride without it.

You should carry more insurance on your lawn mower than your sled..

Just a observation from your knowledge posts...

I do have 5 million lib on my lawn mower it’s covered too. Have an umbrella policy covers me no matter what I am driving here as long as it’s registered on insurance list 😎

Collision is first party coverage only.

the only exposure on that coverage is your own.

Just an fyi to those with kids under 16 and/or without a drivers licence.

TD just informed us they will no longer insure kids with Operator Permits - no G licence - no insurance with TD.

Well that sucks - hopefully other options that are not a total rip off.

Does the OFSC still have a insurance company that they endorse like they used to...I think it was sledder choice insurance at one point?

No,

Started the search now - likely will end up in the facility pool and may have to restrict him to only his sled while on trails etc.  - we'll see how it goes.

Its a bit of a bummer and now just making more work

Agreed, not promoting the sport or youth within it very well, not Insurances fault, but sucks non the less.

good luck.

That sucks. TD never used to care.

Did they contact you to tell you this?

That blows time to have a seperate snowmobile license for all now.
Operators permit has many restricstions anyways. No road riding is one, so how does an young operator stay legal with that rule and follow to road sections that exist all over trail system today?

Actually no, they didn't found out when removing the Evo from the policy and adding the new sled.

What is unfortunate is it will just force us to have to got the facility market now and pay through the nose for our child to enjoy the trails.

Have you looked at another insurance company?  Perhaps they won't require a G.

Working on that today.

Once confirmed - moving everything we have with TD afterward

Was a good run - but no longer suiting our needs.

Insurance companies!

That’s what I mean. They are descrimating by age.  Td wouldn’t take my four wheeler years ago. They said farming use is commercial they don’t insure that.
My broker gave me pretty good coverage.Everytime I mention snowmobiles his eyes roll 🤪. He don’t want sleds either it seems. Says he can get it but rates aren’t best that’s for sure. under writers won’t like sleds it seems.
Hopefully you can find insurance for your son 😎

that sucks. Sorry to hear. Crazy they didn’t “inform” you directly.

I’ve been with TD for decades, Looks like I’m just under the line with my 16 year old now, but they are making their money on him being a primary driver on my old ktm 350 exc!

I'm seeing posts on Facebook where people have the same issue with a youth on a sled. Most commenting are saying The Personal and Desjardins will still insure kids with the snowmobile operator certificate. But the lady who started the topic was declined by The Personal.

But there are several who say TD still does as well. But if they haven't called in to make a change in their policy then maybe they haven't been told yet?

Trying to find insurance on a kids sized dirt bike is just as hard for the last few years.

(Desjardins and The Personal are the same company)
