  1. Just got off the phone the adjuster. Settled with them. Done - cheque in the mail. I am quite satisfied with the service and price offered. I will continue to deal with Desjardins and will recommend them to friends.

  2. So glad we are starting to see some Yellow in Southern Ontario. I am privileged to be able to ride from home in two places usually. I live in Kearney as well as have a place in Victoria Harbour 50/50 - and usually one of those two places is one of the first to open south of Cochrane! This year it happens to be in the latter - so - with the Orillia Club and Georgian Bay clubs working so hard to get things open - Hats off to them for all the great work they have done to be ready as quickly as they were this week.....- we FINALLY saw some Yellow on the trails today! GIDDY UP! Mr. Giddy got to check out his new ride - which he is impressed with btw...and I got to check out my new Oxygen Helmet - in love! Not many kms - but enough to take the itch off! Vic Harbour to Orillia and back. Only 100kms...but .....better than the 0 kms we have done so far this season! The trail had been freshly groomed looks like yesterday - with a nice couple of inches of fresh snow on top to make it a sweet ride! We started out and I would say on par with 9/10 most of the way - especially for early season riding! We jumped on Hoggs Bay at Victoria Harbour over to the "Hole in the Wall" and onto C towards Coldwater then onto the "Utoff trail rail bed" or C106B all the way to Lake Couchiching! The ride back was starting to warm up and after Coldwater getting soft and corners were getting bared off....parts of C trail after Wab towards Midland were getting bare and there is a HUGE open water slush hole to get onto Hoggs Bay from the Hole in the Wall to get back to the Harbour on our return. No pic of big water/slush hole as my thumb was on the throttle - sorry...LOL So we did a bit of "puddle jumping" I guess....(although it is fairly shallow there anyway - but sure didn't want to end up in the drink on our first trip out this season - not a good start)! šŸ˜ We definitely could use more snow, even after the good dumping that we got the other day!. Just keep snow dancing folks ! I think you will see more Yellow trails later in the week - not to be confused with "yellow snow" Ride safe!

  3. It does not matter what make of trailer you have, they all experience wear and tear. If your not inspecting and maintaining stuff, your asking for problems.

  5. Just spoke with the groomer operators in Baysville & they are out packing as I write this. With the cold the swamps are all froze up but there is still a lack of snow. With the terrain in that area, there needs a fair amount of snow to fill in the holes that they just don't have yet. They are also doing some brushing as well. Once some more snow comes things will happen quickly as the initial packing & brushing is well under way.

  6. Hello All, went sledding with a buddy on his wife's sled last winter from Komoka and got the bug. I bought two sleds an a trailer and have yet to use them. We live in Byron (London) and I am hoping we can get some direction on where to ride this weekend with the shortest drive possible. I downloaded the go snowmobiling app so I am comfortable heading to unfamiliar trails. I just need some help with where to go that will give us parking for the truck with close proximity to approved trails. We are both experienced MX riders so we are good with more challenging trails if there are any. I just would prefer not to have to drive hours and hours to go for a rip. Thank you

  7. Annnd thereā€™s more! This posted on Facebook There you have it! All ADSC trails are open on a limited basis. Our groomer operators have been working around the clock to get the trails ready. The damage caused by the sxsā€™s and atvā€™s in the Dufferin forest has been repaired this morning and the trail is looking great. Although we did get a lot of snow from the storm this week there are still some sections of trail that are still a little rough so please ride with caution. I would also like to thank everyone for staying off the trails until they were opened, our groomer operators reported that there was very few snowmobile tracks, this helps so much in setting up a good base and letting us open sooner. Hope everyone gets a chance to get out and enjoy the trails!

  8. Have had no issues with the solid tandem enclosed trailer I bought from you Re:Leaf. Hauled my two, priceless to me, sleds to KL to start our trip up north. In Cochrane now. Lotā€™s of trailers arrived safe here last night.

  9. DESS no DESS. Key ...No Key.... If there is motive and opportunity - they will steal it regardless. They steal sleds in broad daylight out of people's front yards for years even BEFORE the DESS key. It really doesn't matter - thieves are thieves and they gonna steal! The best course of defense is to have an alternative deterrent. I would hope that any smart owner of a '22 doo would be wise enough to either get the post lock - or - an alternative lock if they don't have that. Anyone of my friends that have them have already thought of this. We always have a second security measure as a deterrent to steal our sleds - (maybe because Mr. Giddy is a retired cop...lol ..he is so anal about it). So - with or without the DESS it is a bit more difficult for them to get them.

  12. As the OFSC always says, check the ITG. I have been doing that 4 or 5 times a day lately, and things are slowly opening up(midday updates have been common). Unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of snow close to you this week, except for small areas near Lake Huron. Check the ITG tomorrow, as there may be ares open then, that aren't today. Unusual for the GTA to get more snow than London, but there are no trails in the GTA. The best chance for decent relatively close trails is likely east northeast of Toronto. The open trails in the Orangeville/Shelburne area are going to get used up really fast this weekend, as all open trails in southern Ontario are likely to. The trick is to go where there are the most open trails and the lowest population density. That's why i head east whenever they have open trails. Welcome to the forum, and organized snowmobiling. Your patience will be required as this season slowly kicks off.

  13. It sounds like rsykes is my neighbour, and Polaris Dark Side isn't too far away. Cool. A Yamaha , Polaris and Arctic Cat go for a ride (it was a warm day, so the Yamaha started ........) šŸ˜

  14. The closest trails open to you would be Orangeville. But I'm not even sure I would start there. I live in Shelburne and was kinda surprised the trails were showing open here today. Drove past the B110 South of Shelburne Tuesday night and at the road crossings was looking pretty thin. I have not been on any trails here so I dont know what its like on them, only what i saw the other day. Hope this helps.

  15. Hopefully they treat you fairly. I was dealing with insurance yesterday adding a second sled, and the woman I spoke with was super pleasant to talk to, but there was definitely an issue for me with bad hearing, an accent and she probably has to wear a mask all day. I felt bad asking her to repeat some things, hope she didnā€™t take it personally.

  16. I don't get people worried about parking their stuff for a few days here and there or overnight, yet they'll park expensive toys at their un-attended cottages for long stretches without a concern... Just go - crap happens

  17. Look at the interactive guide before venturing. We're up that way ( Six Mile Lake ) - but haven't been up since Christmas. We'll be up this weekend. If trails are open, hope to be out as well. Welcome aboard Polaris Dark Side. It's never too late to " see the light ". Many Arctic Cats on our lake

  18. Hi everyone! Use this area to post updates, observations, trail conditions, etc. for the Haliburton area. Note, this is not an "official" HCSA discussion. Happy trails!

  19. We have never had an issue either however we have puller the breaker a few times over the years when we were in areas for the fist time that we had never been before and that had widely publicized theft issues.

  20. I don't have a dog in this fight as I don't have that kind of trailer. All I really have is a 30' gooseneck, so - I really don't have these issues. It rusts b/c it is steel and old, not from dissimilar. But not likely coming apart anytime soon either. But my word of caution here, and I imagine that I may have posted this before, but as I said - I only pull a goose for the most part, but I doo have a 2" out the back door at the ready. But it's most used app is to capture a snatch strap, and as a step. (flatbed, no tailgate) Anyhow, one day my BIL got the forktruck stuck, and he hooked onto it with a chain (no stretch) and barely tugged on it, and the 2" plug broke right in 2. Inspection showed that it had rotted out - all the way around the OD of the plug - right at the intersection of the receiver. It was at least 1/2 way through, but it seems like it was more like 2/3. Kind'a put you in the mind of a tube cutter, as it was basically just a ring all the way around it that was rotted. The scary part is that not more than 6 months prior, we had picked up my buddy's buddy's trailer in Colorado, drug it up to Dubois, Wyoming, and then home. Prolly a good 1500+ miles with ... just one sled in it? So, for those of you that leave your plugs in all the time, and they are not overly new, THAT would be my recommendation to inspect THAT!

  21. We have parked in Quebec many many times, never an issue...

  22. Where do you leave your trailer? Would it not be better locked to the truck and backed into the bank? Do that and take an ignition breaker out of the fuse panel under the hood. Easy Peasy!

  23. When you go to Quebec take off front license plate where you park and back truck against a bank. They leave you alone thinking you are from Quebec too šŸ˜Ž

  26. Dont take this personally but that trailer looks beat to f-ck. I think you needed a more commercial-use trailer than that one. What brand is it?

  27. Was looking at our club's Facebook page - so many downed trees. We have the low lying swamp issues too - it's been nice and cold with little snow - so hopefully those have firmed up. No hockey for the last 3 weeks - but no snow to ride at the cottage either.... stinks

  31. My uncle has place in Quebec. He always takes front plate off when he parks his vehicle near the road. Blends right in with Quebec vehicles then. Sometimes they slash tires on ontario vehicles. Thatā€™s why.
