  5. Tough day. A trail from Matheson was ok to good. Trail Base is rock hard, throws you around but enough loose for cooling and sliders. Took 191 and 192, any road running is bare and brutal. Fields around Nl will struggle with any more warm weather. Waterfront parking lot bare and almost empty compared to snow covered and packed last sat and sun. The river from Waterfront north is BRUTAL, deep ruts from when it was soft, and had no snow unless to tried to sweep up onto the steep sides. I wouldn't stage out of NL without new snow, especially for the river section, fields were passable, but any road or lots were bare. I would not touch Timmins without 20cm of new snow, my opinion folks.

  6. I'm heading to Cochrane for a saddlebag trip from Cochrane to Kap To Hearst and back. Heading up Wednesday Feb 22 and returning Monday Feb 27th. The two guys I planned to with backed out. I have a truck and trailer to accommodate 2 additional sleds. We'll be meeting up with Irreverent and crew in Kap. If interested in joining, PM me for further details.

  7. Save the gas money in the truck and go to Temiskaming instead. Much better trails there.

  8. If its worth the drive to Cochrane, then IMO, its worth driving right on past to Kap. Everybody and his brother is going to be trying to get to Cochrane next week. It will be a zoo. Kap to Geraldton and back is looking good, using as many local loop trails as possible along the way.

  9. Might want to look at the Bullett. https://actiontrailers.ca/shop/build-a-trailer/snowmobile-motorcycle/inline-hybrid/sled-shed-aluminum-pro-starr-bullet-series-rear-ramp-door-7-wide-inline-hybrid-snowmobile/ It's the same as a tc167, but has lower head room meaning you catch less wind. Not a huge difference but every little bit helps. I'd say your pushing your luck wanting to pull 2 sleds with a 4 cylinder setup. Does your vehicle really have the weight and the brakes to stop a 2 place safely? A lot of the 4 cylinder suv's are glorified cars. If you have a pathfinder or an explorer that's one thing. But a Kia Sorento or a Hyundai Santa Fe and I think you're asking for issues. Maybe consider trailer brakes to help. Just my opinion

  10. Yes. Prices have definetley softened from a year or two ago. At that time, I coulda got 50 % more for the sled than I paid for it 5 years prior with 50 % more km on it then when I bought it. Now a little more reasonable. Not gonna rush a purchase, I got all summer, or longer to make up my mind. I still got one sled to ride.

  13. I’m sure some clubs are likely out assessing/grooming as we speak in hopes of opening for the weekend. Hopefully that storm brought some decent snow to the areas that need it. My guess would be that we’ll see some more colour later today or early tomorrow…hopefully 🤞🏼

  14. Sounds like a 12 foot aluminum clam is what you are looking for unless you have a decent towing capacity. Here is another suggestion: Triton TC128-LR Ramp rear door and 14 inch wheels. Weighs 1000# and will carry 2000#.

  16. That sounds like a rough one.. I can’t thank you enough for the details though, our plans have changed. We were able to squeeze in a reservation to drop in Kirkland Lake and are riding to Kap instead for the weekend.

  20. 2013-14 was an awesome year for sledding. Between my old SRX 700 & enticer 340, I think I put in about 5000kms that season and most of it from home! Loads of snow that season! My boy and I were still sledding March 26th and yes the trails we’re still open here with plenty of snow left after OFSC shuts them down regardless of conditions.

  21. There's not much road running up this way. Couple of areas around Harcourt and Wilberforce that I was willing to road run in the morning to get to the 601 but nothing long, max 1km and 80%+ was fine. The 601 was worth it! Beautiful trail! Most road running can be avoided if it's not to your liking. Choose your route accordingly. I suggest you grab a sled magazine and sit quietly down there in SW Ont and watch your grass grow.😉 Real men/women(the grownups), who are currently snowmobiling, are speaking here! Shhhh🤫 😁

  22. We posted on FB conditions yesterday on the status of our trails, it will be a miracle if they reopen again this season, lots of water everywhere and we took a huge loss on our base this week.

  25. I think they are waiting on hailburton lake. Most are riding E out now anyways. Without hailburton makes little sense to stake redstone I think is why. With weather doubt either will be staked this year now. Makes little sense for a few weeks of riding.
