Seasons change, it all plays a role for sure. 1005 - and the good dealers are usually just honest with you - they know what they have already - what else is coming in - and what they think they can realistically move. Having a good relationship with your dealer is important in a lot of ways. Running around all over the province to make a deal and save $300.00 doesn't always pan out in the long run. Quote
1049 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 I’ve sold my last 10 sleds private but run them through the dealer to save on the tax it’s worked well so far but getting tougher to sell them . The one I sold this spring really surprised me only took one day to sell . Quote
RAMSOMAIR Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 That is what all the Quebec guys do. The dealers call it "sale by accommodation" 1 Quote

Some just don't want to do it for a few reasons. A few guys on here seem to do it often and dealers co-operate. Anything to save some taxes when purchasing a new one that's for sure. Also makes sure no liens on it for buyer. Quote
CAT RIDER Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 I usually trade at dealer as it saves on taxes, hassle free and you dont have to worry about buyer not switching out of your name. Last time though, I had a Cat and Doo dealer told me straight up they did not want to take on trade, it had 16Km on it. Put it on FB market place and priced right, I was glad to sell and buyer was happy with price, all worked out in the end. 1 Quote
1049 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 The dealer I normally deal with has no problem running a sled through them but he also hasn’t been taking trades . He doesn’t sell X3 s SXS so I bought from another dealer they would take my sled on trade at a ridiculous low price plus the new sled was 400 more and would not let me run my sled through them . Do you spilt some of savings with buyer or do yoy keep it all. Does dealer add on a pass thru fee of some sort too to cover there time? Thanks Quote

My dealer charges me $200 per sled to run them through and the buyer pays $149 licensing fee plus his taxes 4 1 Quote

smokeater466 Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Problem this year is the lousy winter and glut of used sleds on the market. Dealers don't want to give you what you'd think is close to value. I get it they are holding it hoping for a better year and more optimism this fall. I bought a new sled this spring and hoped to sell mine privately because I wasn't happy with what they offered even with the tax saving. I'm now holding to the fall. Prior to this year I have never had an issue selling one in the past. 1 Quote

First toy to go is sled it seems. I don't seen many moving some still asking too much and prices aren't changing as they are sitting either. Seen some for sale for over 9 months now. Too bad you couldn't find a pass thru buyer and save some tax. Quote

scottyr Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I am seeing the same used sleds on my watchlists just sitting and sitting. There is zero motivation today for people to buy anything recreational according to my buddies in the boat, motorcycle and RV business. 2 Quote

People are tearing through their savings because of cost of living. We're not rich - we're not poor- we have seen a distinct obvious difference in our "play" money over the last year and a half. Only going to get worse 1 1 Quote

Not sure that's entirely true. With price of food and essentials won't be far off now. I heard tax free savings accounts are very popular with Canadians. I am sure majority have savings for a rainy day and many new Canadians send x amount home too, while reaping rewards here. Don't ask me how I know 🤣. Quote

I was being scarcastic of course though based on the doom and gloom "news" and Spidy suggesting people had savings. Regardless, poeple will always hurt and people will always weather the storm and endure the valleys of life. 1 Quote

Called roofer last week said I need some shingles repaired, from wind storm. He came next day repaired that part of roof and told me front half of house needs replacing. Boss came over with quote in about 35 mins after worker phoned it in. I said ok and this week got front part of roof done. Usually takes a million phone calls and messages to get anyone to come out. Guess no one is spending money on roofs now. 2 Quote
