  3. Just to clarify, the trailer I got at Action is a 2019 ProStarr Bullitt 7 x 16. Basically a low profile inline two place trailer. Slomo and TheNavigator have the same model. When I pull the loaded trailer with a 2015 4x4 Ram 8 speed 4 door with the 5.7 hemi motor, the truck runs in 7th gear on flat land, 8th on a slight downgrade, and 6th on an upgrade. No problem or effort with a normal speed of anywhere between 100 and 120 kph. I could easily go faster, but the fuel economy would nosedive.

  4. Good source for web cams as well, which I don't see on your pictures above. Have to add it at the bottom I think. Shows 24 hours and snow on the ground at various locations.

  5. Thanks for the tips, guys. Grover, I like your windy.com recommendation. I downloaded the app, removed some layers I don't want, kept the snowdepth layer.....and it looks accurate enough to be useful.

  8. Same trailer as Blake - A 137" forward, 129" back... 5 liter gas engine 6 speed auto 3.31 axle: Varied terrain - 5.9 kms / liter - Amos to just north of North Bay via highway 11.

  9. Looks like there is more snow on the backside of the blue mountains than there is in the NDCN

  10. Thanks good information. I won't be backing anything up the ramp, I do that now with my 7x16 and its too stressful after a long day of riding.

  11. I was running the same truck with the same trailer as Blake. I think we picked up our trailers the same day LOL. I get about 16.4 to 16.7L 100km. I am running 6 speed transmission with 308 gears and find it a bit of a problem on windy & slushy days. It has a hard time holding its speed on a light upgrade. My buddy is running the same truck with 323 gears towing a tritan 167 and he is about the same as me on fuel. We will see how the new truck works. Decided to try the new 3.0L duramax. More torque and at lower rpm. where the 5.3 is less torque but at high rpm. Should work well.

  12. I don't like the smaller fuel tank for starters. Fortunately I ride primarily with friends with 900 ACE XS sleds. We use the 300 km range and I don't want to loose that. I prefer the cold weather wind protection of the XS. I am not looking for better handling because I'm touring, not racing and I love the handling of my XS chassis. Is the G4 much superior is some aspects? Ox, as TD answered, my 17 is an XS.

  13. No I don’t, have to wait for someone that knows what’s happening, unless it is a glitch in trail guide and will be fixed soon?

  14. Liability. Some lawyer won't sign off on that public road being trail I bet. So solution was just to pull it off the map. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

  15. Had 4 place trailer since 2006, usually hauling four sleds. 2006 trailer was 7.5 wide, 19 +5 v nose. Last year bought a new 7 wide 20+ 5 v-nose. Over the years it's very seldom ever use the front door. When hauling 4 sleds we stagger, load from back, drive first machine in, back in next and repeat for last two. Can load quicker and easier from wide back door. Coming in or out front door usually have to hop off machine and pull front of machine over once part way out door. Especially with longer track machines. lf l was having a brand new trailer build l don't think l would put a front door in it. Front door creates more structural weakness and another security entry risk. l have never tried loading all machines from front facing the rear. Like PLC stated it may be difficult to get enough tongue weight on trailer. lf you are backing machines up back ramp and it's your trailer it's best to do it yourself. Some guys can't figure out to use momentum to get up onto trailer. Your buddies will get half way up the ramp then use there machine as a wood chipper tearing up your ramp and floor.

  16. I have a 27' Legend V nose and I can get 4 sleds in if I put the tracks up on a 12" block so I can get the ski in under the running board. I think you would be hard pressed to get 4 sleds in a 23 or 24 foot.

  17. Most manufacturers say the exact opposite. Drive in the front, out the back. You definately don't want to end up with no tongue weight (that's an accident waiting to occur), but with a tandem axle trailer you have two axels there for a reason. They're supposed to carry the brunt of the weight.

  18. From a weight distribution standpoint , in order to get enough weight on the tongue, I would think you would want to drive in the back. JMHO

  19. Environment Canada has one as well. Canada-Wide, therefore not specific to Ontario. It updates daily in the morning.

  20. Lots of riding from the cottage. Still debating Cote Nord, Gaspe, Abitibi or Algoma for trips (would like to get a couple in). Maybe the RAN tour as well. If it were today I'd avoid Gaspe due to Covid, but it looks like things there are slowly improving. The others I'd be good to go today based on their active covid case counts. We usually just make our trips extended weekends. Think it may be straight week days this year to avoid any crowds and can ride from the cottage on weekends. Hopefully our case count stays down at home as well so I don't feel that I need to stay home to be responsible and respectful to the areas we'd like to visit.

  23. Nice try. The wheels are not designed for any cap on either side. Bearings with real good seals are required.

  24. I have found that new NTN Taiwan bearings in the idlers are not much better. The 6004's need washing out and greasing every year to run smooth. The loose slide fit of the left track drive bearing is the biggest design problem of current Cats. Lots of spun bearings and destroyed drive shafts. Mine will need welding and machining in the spring to save the shaft assy.
