Yes spare parts inventory need to be increased for sure but if every club has to stock spares that gets to be huge inventory with multiples duplicates between clubs. And what happens to those parts when OFSC gets rid of that model? Club is stuck holding the bag? Here is a couple pics of Trucks headed to customers site last summer. -

You sound like you know the costs of doing the moves and when it's been done in the past it has been for long timeline repairs only. Unless the broken down groomer is going to be down for an extended period it doesn't make any $ sense. If the OFSC is actually ever going to get down to only 2-3 different groomer purchases (which I believe was the plan a few years ago) then the OFSC stocking some hard to get often needed parts might make sense. I know our local Case/International/Soucy groomer waited about 4 weeks last year (in a short season year) for a king pin which was a known issue for the particular units. -
I get the cost of float moves. A groomer is an easy move compared to what my customers and I work with on a daily basis. But float moves are possible. in this case maybe it’s a perfect storm and just bad luck. Huge snowfall and 3 or 4 neighbouring clubs all having breakdowns at same times. And maybe I am a little cynical of OFSC after all the early discussions of cutting trails, cutting groomers, and then no trails locally around my cottage despite a huge volunteer effort.

We had a great weekend albeit not at Steves pace. We got 1263kms on and 80% of the trails were mint. The Matagami run to Lebel and then down to Senneterre was 11/10. My dad had never been to Quebec and he loved it. The old guy wasnt afraid to squeeze the flipper on the 850 Polaris when the timing was right. We saw the same moose on Monday but it did jump off the trail for us. As much as it pains me, I think my season is over. Its been a great one but my dirt bike is sending me signals that it wants to be ridden sooner than later. Here are a few pics from my trip. -
