Mapguy Posted November 10 Posted November 10 So been reading this site for years now and saw the post about middle aged mid-week rides and thought to myself...this sound perfect, I'm signing up. Riding alone a little too often. Anyway, I live in rural Stouffville and have been a motorhead sense the young age of 5 y/o. Started racing mx in the late seventies and gave up/slowed way down the mx riding in 2004 once we had kids. 2 young boys of 19 and 21 with a very supportive wife, especially when it come to off-road additions. We have a small dirtbike track and small sled loop at home which we all enjoy on occasion. Started off my career as a Cartographer (Map maker)then went to GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Worked in both the Natural Resources area as well the corporate area building systems... BTW working with fish, wildlife, forestry, wildfires, resource exploration was way more rewarding than tracking people and $. Then started a contracting business working with heavy machinery doing driveways, hardscaping, septic systems, cottage country shoreline rehab etc. (Learned all this when was 15-22 yo old working with same guy while going to high school and to be map maker at Fleming College, School of Natural Resources, Lindsay. Don't like large crowds much except maybe at a music venue. Love and listen too allot of music from Country to Heavy Rock, youngest boy is a very established musician (guitar, bass, drums), Other son cant get enough of car stuff and already has moved out with girlfriend at young age of 21. Youngest son goes to York U at the new Markham campus is able to live at home. Not into politics much and certainly will not engage in any debates. Have had cottages for past 20 years, mainly for investment but also allowed for the family to enjoy the outdoors while I generally would be working on them. Would get them nice then we would sell and be on the hunt for another fixer-upper which also meant new trail systems to explore. When it comes to riding I ride a ton of Greens Mountain area and consistently guide groups in the area mostly on the quads and the occasional enduro. I ride my sled there too, mostly mid week rides when condition are suitable and most times alone but have a few buddies that take a day off and jump in the mix. Enjoy riding in the north from Orillia to NorthBay. (would love to ride further North once find a group that's a good fit and doesn't mind a new guy jumping in the mix) Quite a bit of South River riding but mostly just chase snow conditions. Wife had a sled but was getting frustrated because did not want to hold anyone up. I purchased a 2-Up seat, and re-sprung my sled and she enjoys coming out a few times a year but also doesn't mind hangin out at the hotel/motel especially if there is a pool that she can chill at. Anyway, there's more but not to bore. Look forward to getting to know a few more sled people and hit up some o those mid-week rides. All the best. Mapguy 8 Quote
