gtserider
How many clubs don't have a OFSC groomer available for there use. Here we are Feb 24 and still not no good answer when it's coming. I am no newbie to this crap show and the executive is going to give up. So all those that use C Trail between Pte au Baril and the Key River area don]t expect it to be open. Direct your disappointment towards the OFSC not the club. North East Georgian Bay S C District 10 2
RAMSOMAIR
So sad. When Polar Bear Riders in Cochrane went down, a new groomer from another district was there in not time. Many groomers sitting idle in the south all winter. MOVE EM!

North East Georgian Bay S C District 10 Has the District gone to bat for you with the OFSC? It is their job to do so and continue to pressure the OFSC if they can't find a groomer for you to use from within your district. Personally, I would like to know this has happened before going any further.
gobills
Ridiculous how majority of groomers In the south just sit for seasons. Move tem up north where they are needed. All the old crap should be in the south and all new in the north. 3
skidooboy
District should be bending over backwards to get this club a groomer, if they dont, cant, then district should be in the OFSC's ear. if that isnt the case, have the club step around the district, throw them under the bus, and go to the OFSC yourselves. that is ridiculous. good luck, to all. scottyr
No different with all the groomer problems around Chapleau and over to Hornepayne.  No reason for Tillsonburg to have a new groomer sitting in a shop while these tourist destinations up north are dealing with broken down equipment.
gobills
So how do we as a group make a movement or motion to the ofsc to try and help north/central clubs?
Strong Farmer
26 minutes ago, gobills said: So how do we as a group make a movement or motion to the ofsc to try and help north/central clubs? Ofsc trimmed fat on number of groomers clubs had. Now basically no spares floating around. I think, it’s up to a district In south to help out up north. D5 could send something no doubt and they usually do. We have sent units to matawa before.  Maybe ofsc don’t want to use grooming funds to float groomers around. Before south use to get credit for hours on groomer, ofsc stopped all that.  Now no incentive to lend out groomers might be part of it. I know here in my area we don’t have groomers that we use to have either. Hopefully next year they get a new groomer for a change. To have same problem two years in a row is un acceptable to any club.

Lots of phone calls, emails and social media postings.. And asking why this is happening so it doesn't happen again..  Demand they send groomers north asap..  Come up with a cool name eg. Save The North and coordinate our efforts involving all the snowmobile forums...  And calls to a few newspapers/news programs also gets quick result!  An old fashion......... As for Hornepayne, they had a brand new (brand new) groomer, and sunk it one of the first days out. They received a replacement but, it is a farm tractor type, and they are having training issues, learning how to run it on some of their terrain.  All of these clubs used to have 2 or even 3 groomers, a back up, a spare, one to be maintained or repaired, while the others did the work. Now most of the clubs are down to 1 each, mostly. Can you imagine being responsible for 250, to close to 400 miles of trail, with only one machine, and possibly person to run it? When do you have time to change the oil, adjust, do routine maintenance, etc...? Then the sheer distance, and hours used, wears these machines out in a few years. add in rough terrain, etc... and it just gets worse.   White river has zero (zero!) people in the club, and no one in town, not even business owners help, donate anything to the club. So, Marathon, jumps up, to open to White river, all the way to within 20 miles or so of Dubreuilville, and reconnected to Manitouwdge, on their own, with one groomer. This needs to change, or the area is going to fail again. people are getting or already are burned out. Ski

Bearcat_w
It's been a trying year for our District. Currently we have 2 club groomers and our District spare down for the season. The refurbished groomer for NEGB has been scheduled for delivery multiple times but the shop working on it continues to find issues that delay delivery. They've had it in their shop since last summer. Frustrating.

Frustrating.  At some point long past, one would think the appropriate person(s) at the OFSC would have made other arrangements for NEGB to have a fit groomer to use this season. Somebody somewhere has dropped the ball.

No PLC, I was answering ScottyR"s post above mine. I should have quoted it. I was just giving an opinion of how or why there were opening delays. Now that you mention it, I do recall reading about the washout hampering that trail. Somebody needs to get in touch with the equipment manager at the OFSC and let them know what has and what is going on with your groomer situation. This is beyond belief. Your clubs' issues were discussed in a Feb.24th post on the OFSC Facebook page called Grooming Equipment 101 where they where they were explaining about different types of groomers. It had little effect as a new post last week explained how expensive it was moving groomers around and various other excuses.
