On Thursday afternoon we rode A trail south from Elk Lake all the way to New Liskeard. It was in great condition. Some drifting in fields but still in great condition. This morning we rode the A trail from New Liskeard to A101D. It was in great shape. From Latchford to Temagami was one of best condition trails I have ridden! Groomer operators deserve praise in that area.6 points

Well, I could have been tricked into a new Polaris but couldnt pull the trigger. Every local dealer I talked to either was sold out of units or was playing full msrp + freight + pdi + admin game with me. I would have paid list + tax but thats it. $1000 of extra fees turned me off. I didnt even have to pay full list for my wifes Ford Bronco but I do understand that the sled dealers are getting very few machines this year. Between that and the fact that I own just about every Linq bag known to man as well as a full set of Skidoo clutch tools, I ended up ordering a 23 Renegade 850 XRS (base - no SS or gauge). My dealer treated me super fair and charged me slightly less than MSRP with no extra fees even though he could have just said full list +++.4 points

I do remember checking in that day at the front desk with the wife and you had just walked in. Funny how I can remember years back on certain things, but can’t remember what the wife asked of me yesterday…or even an hour ago lol. she likes the edge water, gotta get back there next year. I also won’t forget the next morning I was swapping carbides from my sled to hers in like -35. I can’t remember exactly how cold it was, but I know our room was cold. It was definitely crispy outside.2 points

There is a sled bridge south east of Pembroke at the end of B101Q just past Beachburg and anotherone at the end of West Carleton trail #W1 that just is just newly opened a short time ago. There may also be some ice crossings however I don't know of the conditions on them.2 points

Thanks Nick. I've always believed that a good clubhouse helped keep a club strong. I got persuaded by Ted Lamont to go to a club AGM in I believe 1990. It was the year the new clubhouse was built. Wife wasn't impressed when I came home and told her I was now on the executive LOL. I'd do it again in a minute. It paved the way to meeting many great friends & volunteers over the years. Ed Brenner deserves a lot of thanks for building the clubhouse and leasing it back to the club. It wouldn't of happened without him. Ed did a lot for the St. Clements club over the years. He completed many tasks that no one else ever knew about.2 points

When you look at the hotels in and around Cochrane, Smoothrock, Kap. Etc. You would think the local businesses would all help to keep the Canyon Loop open. Every hotel will will be plugged solid for the next month there. And all sledders spending big cash. Bigger this year with outrageous gas prices. Why is keeping the canyon loop open the responsibility of the sledders only? And wait any day we will hear of $7/litre or $8/litre at Base camp!1 point

I agree, and I don't expect them to justify the price of fuel to me or anyone else, I have just had a real hard time getting my head wrapped around it. When I saw the price of fuel in Moosenee. I was actually shocked, I was expecting it to be more, considered it gets there by rail, has to be unloaded and I assume be trucked to the fuel station. It also doesn't carry as much tax as I believe it is a reservation. Really the only one that has to justify the price is the customer, and that isn't me and it looks like many do justify it, and that is great. It keeps a loop open and it is well used, and really thats all that matters. Sometimes I get a little analytical.1 point

I agree. Enough is enough with these clowns. Polar Bear riders should consider something else. Re-open the trail to Quebec and close the loop. Focus on keeping the main trails smooth when they get the x-mas and end of season influx of traffic. If it can't be kept up to good standards and riders aren't going to be treated fairly close it. I get a buck or a buck and a half premium due to location. Not $4. That's extortion. These guys deserve to have the trail pulled. You don't see Halfway Haven, Pavillon La Verendyre, Kanata, Auberge du lac Faillon, etc acting like this. Most of these lodges have it way tougher (they have to plow their own roads) and are doing a much better job. I've been to Base camp twice. Both times left with a really bad taste in my mouth over the way it's ran. Will not be back.1 point

I have never been to Base Camp. Been to Cochrane a couple times now. I have no problem supporting a small business that is run smartly. Hell I would be happy to donate cash to the place. But based on what I have read and $6/litre gas forget it. I will never make the trip!1 point

Ha! But it is only regular. Either way there are no roads to town besides the ice road. I was told that gas travels by the train up to Moosonee when we were there. So way better deal for fuel in Moosonee!1 point

Have a great wing night I am sure you will sell out Lots of great memories at the club house ( both of them ) and wing nites You also hosted the GTSA AGM a couple times too Couple times to remember was when we double groomed the area with the east and central machines when OFSC Pres Bruce and Liz rode thru the area in their quest to ride all OFSC trails Ran out of fuel one night and got towed to the club house where my wife brought a can of fuel She was not impressed since I went grooming thru the night then and we were flying to Vegas the next morning It was mid March and our winter here arrived very late that year Good luck St Clements club with your future plans Nick W1 point

I like to listen to the music my engine puts out. I listen to music on my street bike but have zero interest in listening to music or taking calls/texts on my sled. I guess I am just turning into grumpy old man1 point
