    • Each club and District is it's own corp, unless it's a chapter of the district. There is absolutely nothing the OFSC or District can legally do about situations like this, other then what was done. If a club or district fails to remain a member in good standing according to the OFSC's by-laws written by volunteers just like myself and approved every year by all member clubs, or if they fail to operate legally as laid out by the Ontario Not For Profit Corp Act, they are cut off from funding, and all assets accumulated with permit $$ are seized and go to the district or back to the OFSC for re distribution following the remaining clubs that get absorbed into other districts.   Can you imagine if it was somehow legal that the OFSC could boot club executives every time someone complained about how a club was operating. There'd be no clubs or trails lol    Not pointing any fingers here, but it absolutely boggles my mind how many club execs and volunteers are out there, that have never gone over the OFSC's Master Procedure Documents and By Laws, they've always been parked in Club House for any club volunteer to download and study.  Seeing this get worse makes me feel I wasted 3 terms on the OFSC Trails Committee back in the day making sure all that stuff stayed current and relevant.    The Both brothers are top notch mechanics and both aviators with their own planes, these guys know their stuff, and their shop was always in impeccable shape and very well tooled. I would take that over anything HOO has under their roof in a heart beat LOL   Hopefully that unit is going to the Orillia Club and will be positioned to at least do the B104 to Norland and trail 100 to Coby.          It's a real shame, the Both family and other former volunteers used to do such a fantastic job with their trails. We often used to do a great week night loop from Port Perry, up to Fenelon for dinner then up to Kinmount, and across to Dalrymple, then back down to Port on HOO trails. They used to have some great club events back in the day too. Truly sad how things went off the rails and deteriorated over there.
    • Landowner agreements do have expiry dates. I have been setting them for five or ten years depending on what the landowner is good with. I still have many that are one year agreements. Landowners can cancel the agreement with 60 days notice.  The closing of the recent trails should also fall under the 60 day agreement but OFSC can just shut them down.  I am still concerned about reopening the trails as the Landowner tool to enter agreements still don't show trails that were closed and I know for a fact I have agreements to renew and enter into database. Christmas is coming, snow is coming and I need to get these agreements into the system so we can inspect and re- sign the trails. Our club along with many are working overtime to get trails ready. We need OFSC to speed up the process. Jerry
    • Our club had people attend our meetings expressing concerns about Carden Club. On many occasions these people reached out to the club to volunteer as they live in the area and saw the trails degrading. No replies back. They contacted district and OFSC where nothing was done until they were shut down along with the district. No opportunity was given to change over exec and start new until last year. Our club did not have good relations (in my opinion) with Carden.  We are being offered a groomer from Carden club and we said no way. Won't touch their mismanaged poorly maintained equipment.  We will keep what we have as we know its history. I wish all the best to Kirkfield sno-plan and I have offered as much help as they need to get mou and contacts with Kawartha Lakes etc.
    • The support for these trails has always been strong. Carden was actively turning away volunteers and trying to keep a lid on their mess over the last few seasons they existed.
    • There's obviously reasons that District and Club no longer exist, the as you call them "Overlords" did exactly what was asked of them by all clubs. Make sure everything's running on the up and up so no volunteers are sticking their necks out legally, and the necks of other volunteers out jeopardizing the whole org.      Yes it's great there's lots of support now, but fact is had they all of pressed as hard then as they did now we wouldn't be having this conversation. As has always been, blaming the OFSC, District or Clubs is blaming the wrong people, blame the riders who don't step up before it's too late. It wasn't all that long ago the OFSC was 200+ clubs, now we are just under 180.
