Nice sled. I like the 2022 in the orange and black. 

I wouldnt know what to do with a new sled. I enjoy wrenching on them as much as I do the riding. Fall teardown and shakedown time. The 7000 from last year was just motor and tunnel before I ever rode it. I also prefer the 129. I know ride quality increases with longer tracks, but I'd still rock a 121 if it wouldnt beat me to death. lol

The belt I never even thought of. I think I still have my ol' weight lifting belt around here but I dont think there's answer for the spine shots. Like you said...it is what it is.

Well if you enjoy wrenching on them as much or more so than riding - then I'm not sure why you're at all concerned about mileage or anything to do with any current or recent model year 2 strokes.

Weight lifting belt is too rigid, you need a kidney or back support belt, they are more pliable with plastic inserts in them to give support and velcro straps to apply pressure to your mid section.

Lots on the market to pick from.

 

And come on, that is a new CAT - do not you worry, it will need plenty of wrenching, even a new one......:coffeenose:

Agreed - but I am sure there will be lots of great prices by all given the atmosphere......I do not think waiting to buy or pull the trigger will bite you the butt.

So true . I’m glad I sold my sled in the spring . I talked to my dealer the other day he  has a customer trying to sell his 24 XRS 850 big gauge smart shocks with 5000 miles the best offer he has had is 14000 . That’s a 10000 hit for one year .

I have heard the old saying, "you can't put a price on fun" - I would say that customer can - and it's $10,000.00 lol

Yep, that is a huge hit.....but I think most saw the writing on the wall when they ordered the 24's, just not sure if they knew how bad it might have been.

Smart to get rid of your sled at the end of the season vs. waiting for a silver lining come fall.

You hear that from the folks that have plenty of disposal income when you start to see that sort of "price on fun".....lol

It’s a great price for a great sled.

Because so many 2 strokes are being rebuilt with under 10,000kms. Engine is my only concern when it comes to reliability. Everything else on the sled will be as reliable as a new sled when I hit the trails. If I were to buy a sled for say..$7000 and had catastrophic failure? May as well burn it. Doing a top end is relatively cheap, but I dont want to be replacing a motor. Not worth it in an older sled. In my 45+ years of of sledding and boating, I've never been towed. Must be doing something right or just dang lucky. lol

Your right, found mine. Even if I trimmed the bottom 4 inches it wouldnt be comfortable when seated.

Folks that have budgets and no mechanical skills dont sled. In my younger years with four kids I definitely had a budget. Being a motor head I had to learn to wrench or no fun for me. I financed a home and that was the only thing. I've been mortgage free for a number of years now and refuse to make payments on anything. If warranty covered me with a new loner then I would pony up the cash for a new one, but sitting and waiting to get my sled back just seems like something that I wouldnt do well with.

I use to wrench on sleds too. It was my passion. I did everything except engines. Became a pro at taking out suspensions and putting them back in.  That was hardest skill to master. Even helped friends put them back in when they couldn't.  
Everything else was pretty easy except when mechanical reverse came, made chaincases more complex. Thank god for reverse actuator on four strokes now 😎

Any dealer really. Don't matter which brand. Yamaha quiting will help cat anyways. Overall they build a pretty good chassis.

If we get snow in November and it stays all dealers will be sold out by Xmas regusrdless of economy.  Seen it in 80's and 90's when snow came early. No snow until after Xmas many will say forget it.

There is nothing wrong with financing things if the rates make sense, toys included.

Trying to figure out what to pick up for a sled this year.  Will be something used in the 6-8k range.  Trying to decide what is too high of km's for each brand so I don't end up with a headache half way through the season.  Yes I know any of them can have a problem but have been looking at some G4's with 8-12k on them and Yamacats with 10-13k on them.  Won't be buying new again until the kids have grown up.  Just want something that should be reliable but not have a lot of money tied up into it.

Life is short and if you always wait to have cash for everything, you will miss things.....just be sensible.

I have always told anyone that asks me about this, if you need to borrow money for a toy, ensure the money owing on that toy is less than what you can dump that toy for in a pinch and remove that debt......but the market as of late has been a had one to gauge for that.....

Horrible timing on Cats part no doubt with new engine and chassis coming onto the scene....they missed the magic window that could have been great for them by 2 years.

Sounds like you are leaning towards a 4-stroke then....so km is not so much a factor and freshening up all the bearing/skid, and maybe the shocks, on a good deal will not be a hard pill to swallow afterwards.

I have a Mueller belt, had it for a while.

Use it aways for sledding & used it sometimes when I rode my dirt bike, will use it for lifting heavier stuff or doing work that puts added strain on my back around the house......even used it last year when ice skating for a period since I did something to tweak by back for a bit but did not want that stop me from keep on doing it, so it added extra support in order to be able to keep do it.
