SlowTouringGuy
A group of 12, including iREVerent, Sledjunk, the indomitable MRS.STG and other illuminaries have traversed from Mont-Joli to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts today on specatcular trails and brilliant weather. If I had any idea how to post a pic on here with a Blackberry you would all be cutting out your eyeballs. We did a similar trip in 2011 as a "bucket list" kind of event but, my gawd, it is impossible not to come back. The mountains, the St. Lawrence, the bright blu sky, the contrasting white snow, the 20 foot wide trails, the Atlantic, the 1500 foot elevation changes. Where is Kate Smith when I need her? OMG, this trail is so spectacular I must ride it forever. To which I would add, OMG, how steep is THIS ascent (or descent) going to be??? Every sledder should have the chance to do this at least once.

SlowTouringGuy
MikeD, we went through a part of the Chic Chocs area already but Wednesday we will be looping back through there and staying at the Village Grande Nature Chic Chocs. SlowTouringGuy
Reved (with an aside to Slomo - I can see the BB share price rebounding) it's really not the device; I wasn't precise in my post. My statement was not specically device related. Rather, when using the OC mobile app there is nothing displayed to offer the user "emoticons" or "attachments" or "fonts" or any of the other offerings in the full version. So, not sure how to post a picture using the mobile app.

whits-end
Yooze guys are lucky.............................I mean really lucky. I've been to Gaspesie twice, in 2006 and 2011. Both times we could not complete our route due to snow storms and trail closures. In fact, in 2011 some of yooze guys were there just days before we arrived. I saw your spectacular pictures. You probably could not believe the problems we had constantly digging out stuck sleds. In the Chic Chocs you will see 'Avalanche Area' signs posted on the side of the trail when ascending. Hee-hee we thought. Suddenly the trail ahead was buried in a deep snowbank from right to left. While standing there discussing whether to try going thru or over it, another snow slide buried the lead sled in snow up to the seat top! Yikes! So we turned 12 sleds around by hand on the narrow trail and descended into Mont-Sainte-Pierre for lunch and drivers meeting. We made the decision to ride the side of the main highway, along the coast, to Grande-Vallee but it was closed by avalanches across the highway. Once the Michigan loaders had cleared a path, all the cars and trucks and our sleds proceeded. That was until a snowplow operator ratted us out and the QPP arrived. The nice officers explained we were breaking the law by riding on the highway shoulder; but , understanding our plight; provided an escort to our destination for the night. The last day we rode in rain, on our way back to the Universal Hotel. We concluded last trip that the sane thing to have done would have been to stay put and await better condition before proceeding. Our experience in 2006 was actually worse because the blizzards blew for 3 days. And , of course, it takes a few days to re-open the buried trails. In any event, we will definitely do the trip again because some of the scenery and trails are, as you say, simply spectacular. But Mrs Whit says that's not happening until we retire and have the option to extend the trip, if required. Have a great trip, but watch the weather 'cuz it can get serious down there.
