Nunz
I cringe whenever I see his articles in a magazine with his band of merry men!! Makes me wonder how much of our trail pass money is being spent on him and his entourage and all the places they go and on who's dime is being spent.. slomo
I voted other. The OFSC needs a proven professional marketing company that will expand snowmobiling to traditional and non-traditional sled profile groups. The old white guys are dying off or soon will be. Â Going around getting a picture taken at the sled club booths at the Toronto sled show doesn't cut it. Most of the work necessary for this will not be done cruising the trails at someone else's expense. It will require hard work meeting groups both off season and on, initiating 'how to' and 'basic introductory to machine and gear' seminars among other things. Take a page out of Jason Kenney's book on how to sway groups over to a cause.

Domino
Does anybody really know if the OFSC pays a Dime towards Ned and his Merry Men? We should not assume.  I'm not a fan because I ran into them in Gaspe. IMO, they gave the wrong impression of sledders by make all kinds of noise in the wee hours of the morning outside our Hotel and then almost ran us off the trail later that day. I don't care what you call him, or what he writes. Ned and his Merry Men are not spokespeople for the Snowmobiliers I know.

As far as I know, he really represents supertrax, and they look after the publication go snowmobiling. Now I do not know if supertrax gets money from the federation. It is my interpretation, that Ned, is a self proclaimed ambassador of the sport and everyone just goes along with it. We could answer questions properly if we where given proper information, but they didn't include detailed information on how or what we pay for promoting the sport in the financial summary. I was thinking more in line with who the face should be. Someone with credibility and likeability that is given good direction of where to be and when from the marketing team. Groomer guy could be the to the OFSC what the little old lady that says "I put that crap on everything" for the hot sauce.
Dan-Senior
Well, I'm not sure who Intreped Snowmobiler is, however, we do have some celebrity group of some sort coming through our neck of the woods in early February. Â

revrnd
As much as I would like to see Luc as the spokesperson, I voted "other". How about different folks that are "the face" of snowmobiling? Deer & Deer Hunting magazine profiles a different person each month:  http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/blogs/im-a-deer-hunter/britneys-modeling-meshes-with-her-longtime-love-of-the-outdoors  Does Tourism Ontario have much of a budget for snowmobiling promotion? If yes, it would be prudent to maybe lessen the duplication.  Speaking of a marketing company, maybe the folks behind this ad should be contacted:  http://ontarioconditions.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12879-ontario-sledding-ad/  Ned has lost the respect of the sledding community (if he had any to begin with). On 1 of our Northern Blastoffs, we met 2 sleds travelling in the other direction w/ his graphics. I'm assuming it was him & his wife so he doesn't always travel w/ a entourage (not defending him, just making a statement).    It is my interpretation, that Ned, is a self proclaimed ambassador of the sport and everyone just goes along with it. The same could be said about the Lesters & Kehoes. Who deigned them w/ "expert status". Bro said once that him & I had been on sleds since the winter of '69 when we spent a day w/ friends that had a 10 horse 'doo. Our father bought a '70 Oly 335 that fall. And thus the fun began.
Viperules700
Ofsc has has try our trails, by taking new riders out for an afternoon on new sleds provided by big four manufactures. They held one at hailburton a few years ago, seen them coming out of pinecrest! There was one 4 years ago in Durham area as we'l, near mount forest! Has this ceased? 02Sled
the guy who was responsible for that ad with the people driving through the night was at the AGM. He works for the province and they showed the ad at the AGM. It is indeed a great ad however I haven't seen it anywhere other than here and the AGM. I have however heard and seen the ad campaign from the province for contraband cigarettes and it being a crime.

revrnd
Â I have however heard and seen the ad campaign from the province for contraband cigarettes and it being a crime. Maybe if more people snowmobiled (w/ the inherent tax revenues) the province wouldn't have to go after those "small business" owners.
