    • Riding the trail between Blyth and Kincardine last season, there was somewhere we came across a wing night. It was not an official club event so it doesn't appear on the ITG.   Does anyone know where it was located and if it is running this year? Thanks.
    • And the fleet is getting older especially in the south. Our groomer is a 2011 and Conestoga Lake is a 2015 I believe.  I've been told the OFSC will not put new groomers in the south anymore. Not sure if that is correct but if they aren't going to replace them then they better be ready to fix them quickly when they break. Our tractor groomer typically goes to the local Case IH (or whatever they call themselves this year) dealer. Last season it was down there 31/2 or 4 weeks for a kingpin.
    • That's pretty much exactly how it's being done now for the most part, but it doesn't seem to be working when looking at all the equipment that's down and the cost of emerg repairs vs regular maintenance.  Smaller fleet doing 30% more km of grooming, and who knows how many more hours now with this winter were having.
    • Perhaps it is time to look into a few centralized shops to maintain the entire fleet and refurbish in the off season. Putting all maintenance in central locations and using economies of scale in parts would in the end reduce service costs, lengthen time in service of all units, and gather data on the entire fleets service records with ease and in one spot. Use the data to understqnd the most economical units and shift the asset base to those units in future when applicable. This would be a large undertaking, but could be done and might even garner government financial support for providing year round employment in more remote areas of our province. A place where jobs are being shed in forestry.
    • All districts have spares, they're just all in use because everything else is over worked and broke lol    Sure if a club doesn't have the means or know how, but if a club does and is able to do it on their own there's really no incentive for them to do it. Not much of savings if more units are being serviced by service techs
