The second part that goes hand in hand with the Northern On or QC is the trip aspect, on your sled for 5 to 7 days with people you mostly enjoy spending time with....I say mostly as I know sometimes people can get funny on trips...... ....but usually makes for some good laughs later on. Like mentioned, it is really nice, for me at least, to ride some of the local'ish trails with the pluses that it brings, and some of the negatives too, as well the trails & atmosphere Northern ON & QC offers! Yup been North and Quebec (albeit that was a shorter trip). Not my thing. Never been a mile chaser just so I can say I got 8000 km on this year. I much prefer a 150 km day where I need to work the sled on the trails. I did 1700 in Muskoka this year. Most of it I was tired sore by the end of the day (probably getting old). Never liked big huge fast trails where there really is no technical riding. I like tight fast trails that I need to move around on just to keep a nice pace. I don't want a big heavy 4 stroke that is great for Northern fast trails Just so I can say I did 1000 miles an hour for 30 minutes. I like light 2 strokes that I can throw around when that trail gets bumpy and tight. I suspect if I was younger I would be a flat brimmed long track trying to find powder and jump stuff kind of rider but those days have passed me by. I have never like trailering and driving long distances to sled, Id rather ride than sit in a truck for 6-10 hours there and back. Its not worth it to me. Where we are there is always snow and I can leave on a long trip every winter (depending on timing). Im just as happy riding Muskoka, North Bay, Parry sound area and sitting down at my own place at the end of the day with people I sled with and Neighbours at the cottage. Example, Day 2 of our 2014 Gaspe trip, coming down the mountain. I define that segment as very technical, because if you go over the right side, the chances of ever riding again are slim. (Not sure if the link will work - google Apexltx56 on youtube, 2014 Gaspe, Sucked into the Mountain.) Look at the drops on the right side of our ride down, which is why I hugged the left side, a bit too much in one spot. Again ,each to his own, I agree with you entirely. Straight up the road from the LCBO in Moonbeam. Best little restaurant in the area imo...Corner of Albert Street and Leonard Ave in Moonbeam. Not what Google maps shows. Basically before going over the tracks on the L123 after crossing hwy 11, you continue thru the empty lot parking, and turn up the street before the LCBO. I looked @ the trail when I was driving home & it looked like an MX track. Couldn't see it the day @irREVerent & I filled up, so I didn't bother venturing across it to the next road to the east (road crossing by the L123/L129 intersection).
