Insurance is your Ontario insurance. The insurance purchased with the trail pass is liability insurance but applicable to Quebec sleds only. Insurance portion can be refunded if you apply for it.

The Polar Bears (the club) need to notify the interactive map people at the OFSC that the trip planner is still allowing trips to be planned on the A105Q this season. The free weekend in Quebec is coming on Feb. 6th & 7th and many have used this trail to enter and or leave in past years. Last year it was deep snow and opened just prior to the free weekend. Many may assume that this year will be the same and the map shows it to be a viable trail. That may be the only weekend that this trail gets lots of use? Riders coming to the Ontario border on Sunday expecting to run through to Cochrane will be faced with great hardships and may try to break trail thus running out of fuel and worse. Everywhere you look for direction on trails points you to the interactive and it is not giving anyone the correct info about trip planning.

Well, the District did send an older groomer from Hornepayne to Longlac (amalgamated with Geraldton to become the "Greenstone Snowmobile Club") to help that struggling club get back on it's feet. Seems to me there was (is) a lengthy thread in this forum about re-connecting the old District 16 clubs. It's ironic that I have yet to read a thread about staying connected with Quebec. These kinds of decision are not fly by night....as ANYONE who is involved in a club/district and the OFSC will appreciate. BUT I encourage everyone who is disappointed or who disagrees with the District's decision to contact them and let them know.

My group will miss this trail but I can understand the struggle to justify maintaining an under utilized trail. I doubt this would go anywhere, but was the Quebec side asked if they would help maintain the trail? They enjoy 50% of the economic benefit of the trail being open.

That sucks. I'm guessing that cross border traffic won't be popular w/ the stud ban in Quebec.
