  1. Head lake in town of Haliburton is good to run. However that section of b103 is closed on the land portion due to landowner issue. I was on it last weekend. I don't recall seeing stakes, I just went to get gas...
  2. Yes access is still there for gas. It is now a private trail. The clubs no longer maintain that section, this is why its not shown on the ITG..
  3. Here is the statement from The OFSC Corporate released today.. https://www.ofsc.on.ca/2020/01/23/important-news-update-land-use-agreements/
  4. The clubs cahonas are talking about it. The OFSC barrie office knows what's going on no doubt. But for them to put out a statement for each club, comment on sensitive info, it's best to be left at the club and district offices to deal with. Regardless , blame will always be pointed at the Barrie office, but they aren't the ones making the agreements, the clubs are. As for secrecy, I think Excom and Corporate communications have been more transparent than ever. There does come to a point where a corporation needs to protect its stakeholders, call it a secrecy if you wish...
  5. I have been inactive as a club volunteer for 2 seasons. More involved at the Provincial level, but still like to still get my hands dirty on trails, helping out various clubs. It seems to be the new culture these days, playing stupid and asking for forgiveness when caught. As for the trail being removed from the ITG for a season. It is likely being treated as a decommissioned trail since no Land Permission was granted for the season. Trail Closed signs should be posted and the club moves along until next year. Having a trail still listed on the ITG, is more inviting for trespassers intentional or not. My view anyways!
  6. Yup, best to remove a trail off ITG if there is no hope for the season, especially if it hadn't yet opened in the first place.. Those people on that particular page are more of a detriment to the clubs, districts and ofsc cause than they will ever realize.
  7. 10" reported by Timberline S/C in Pembroke. They are out packing.
  8. Welcome to the forum! I see you are in the Gravenhurst area. Just up highway 11 Wildbill who is a member and sponsor on here, he has a new store thats opened up. He is very reasonable and has a good selection of anything you need to snowmobile. Here is a link to his website, he will probably chime in if you are interested in going to one of his two locations. Great family business that alot of us here use and support. http://rosseauroad.ca/ http://rosseau-rd.shoplightspeed.com/
  9. Nope, the ofsc is comitted to providing and grooming trails. This has liability written all over it with steeped insurance rates. We have enough trouble with backlash, trying to sell permits at $190. Cool idea and probably fun for some, but not at the cost of a $250,000 machine, that is a people mover vs a grooming machine. Probably best to have in the private sector, Haliburton forest comes to mind...
  10. Huh how bout that, and here I got my info from a driver trainer from a few years back. Correction noted.
  11. She must hold a valid G1, G2 license to legally travel on or cross roadways. The snowmobile operators card is for on trail use only regardless of being 16 0r over.
  12. This is a really good thread guys, thank you for sharing the history of our trail system...
  13. Have some tact! It's a real wonder why the federation has as much difficulty as it does getting new volunteers out to help. Perhaps a different approach would have been a better direction? Stop with the side comments and pokes, it's not welcome here.
  14. Welcome back to the sport! Contact Greg Collins, Volunteer Coordinator: laridgerunnersvolunteers@gmail.com http://laridgerunners.ca/
  15. Try our trails was not just for data collection, it was a way to get people back on the snow. But it was also used for data collection, over a number of years. Of course it may not be fully accurate, but as Sledjunk said it gets us closer to a number. Sounds good in theory. But the MTO are not permitted to give away this information. This is why there was a requirement to input the vin#s when registering for a no cost try our trails permit.
  16. This is what the try our trails program was used for , to collect Stats for sleds in Ontario that were registered but did not buy OFSC trail permits. Cross reference vin numbers with pure data from the snowmobile community. We needed several years to collect that data, this is why it took so long for the program to end/scrapped..
  17. There is a place for things like this to be discussed at length, On a public forum for everyone to read is not one of those places. It only takes the wrong person to read and copya post. And yes it is admissible in court. Flame me for saying it if you like, but I have seen what results come of it...
  18. 2 went in the other day in Haliburton county from what I understand. 3 weeks at least I will bet...
  19. Everyone should know by now the OFSC sponsored snowmobile fleet are Ski Doos. You ride a Cat!
  20. I've been involved for close to 15yrs. Active with a club for 13 of those. Trail Patrol Groomer Op Trail coordinator Secretary/treasurer Vice President Sat on OFSC Via commitee, presently helping out at the Provincial Level... I have met so many friends over the years in the snowmobile world, I can't step away from it.
  21. Dont forget about the 3 spotted skinks and the yellow bellied salamanders... LOL Good times!
  22. I could understand why this may be the case. I have done my research in the past, from when I was a ofsc club V.P....
  23. Same group I believe, but that was put to an abrupt hault. It would now seem both user groups are in the same page.
