    • Clubs no longer "have" groomers, Districts do. The District grooming committee which is made up of each clubs grooming coordinator make recommendations where the Districts groomers should groom and in who's care they under (assigned to).The District board which is made up of each club president/rep in the district approves or disapproves the recommendation.     Personally I think it's an absolute mess, not seeing as much pride of ownership and care and control as we used to. Where's the incentive for a club to work hard to fund raise to keep and maintain a fully tooled groomer shed, to maintain the equip they treated better then their own vehicles ??  Especially if there's neighboring clubs treating their assigned equip like a red headed step child, and never put a wrench to the equip, just call for big $$ service to come do it. In all my years involved I have never seen so many poorly maintained pieces of equipment as I have the past 5 or so years.
    • Not sounding like a recipe for success on what appears will be a longer season.....not to jinx anything.   So with all that said, the club that was stated to have a groomer to replace the one they had that went to NL, but does not have the replacement unit still in hand/in their groomer shed & grooming their trails, would suggest they had enough trails for a groomer to begin with, but now another club is not letting it go. A groomer I assume would be assigned to a club or district for it to be used and inventoried at location xyz so should something happen to the club, district, etc....potentially a quarter million dollar asset is not MIA.   Sound like that 5mil grant will be quite easily absorbed with repairs, grooming hours and who knows....maybe some much needed new equipment.....
    • Saw no groomers out today, but that was a good thing. 1 foot of snow on all the trails we rode. Went to SmithsmFalls for a late lunch. Ate a wacky wings. The food was good and the service matched. Great day on the trails.
    • I heard with the OFSC cutbacks that the Carling Trail Blazers club lost 1 of their groomers and now only has 1 that is running around the clock. I can see where this is going to hurt.
    • There never was one, it was up to the clubs themselves and Districts to decide The majority membership voted for Frame Work For Change and MOTS (More On The Snow), both included District based grooming and funding. X amount of Km in the district divided by 130/150 km is how each districts fleet size is determined. Of course there's exceptions, but they each have to be approved by the board.  Which puts a ton of extra work load and stress on the board, who are also volunteers.    Just look at the posts on social media, lots of equip is now being run 24/7 days on end swapping out operators. In these temps with these big snow loads it's super tough on equip, and operators. In some cases units that clubs selected specifically for certain geography are being used well outside their abilities now, causing further issues. In extreme conditions equipment needs to be thawed and visually inspected and greased a lot more often, especially if the shifts are twice as long.
