You just know I have a weakness for buttertarts don't you... but they have to have raisins. A friend of mine that does tourism marketing started this up a few years ago. It could be a good days ride for the bikers. It's known as the buttertart trail

Nice. Time to find the girdle.

Go to Wilkie's Bakery and buy six buttertarts to bring home to family.

Eat a tart while driving up Laclie Street.

Eat another tart when starting up Highway 11.

Put third tart in mouth, and fourth tart in left hand, while throwing cardboard box and last two tarts out the window somewhere near Weber's.

I've done this twice now and no longer go within four blocks of Wilkie's.

Thanks for the info Blake. I have always loved Henrietta's butter tarts in Dwight. I've never been to Wilkies but I'm looking forward to going there now.

enough of us have bikes, might be a good time to plan a "ride in" and tour for a weekend or a few days, somewhere. see the towns by road you only see on sleds in the winter. Ski

I look at the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide when planning a motorcycle ride. I find it interesting to note places where the OFSC trails cross roads. Gives a different perspective.

Great idea, during biking season we try and also support the riding destinations we frequent during sledding season. Here's a link to a Tourism Ontario article DooDette and I did last summer about doing just that.

The Coboconk season flip, as you hold the cursor over the image, is very cool.

Safe travels, group.

As for "Canada's smallest jail" (Coboconk, subject to Wiki info.) - I can't wait for Slomo to say "I've been there". :-P

All the pictures except for the Hali lookout are flip season shots Dave, fun article to do, I had most of the flip pic's so we just had to go for another day trip on the bikes to some of our favorite haunts to grab a few more and take a few notes    :right_on:

a real fun, and scenic weekend tour is thesalon, to chapleau, to wawa, over night at wawa, or run up to dubreuilville. then next day dub/wawa to the soo, and over to thesalon again. very scenic, nice roads, lots of sledding areas and businesses to be seen. Ski

Ski, is this all blacktop suitable for a touring bike, or is there some rougher stuff that would be better handled on a dual sport?

It is all blacktop suitable for a dual sport .... It IS Northern Ontario after all ..... gravel roads are smoother than the highways ... lol !

Blake, my loop described is all black top, and beautiful, very suitable for touring. we have had our sport bikes (think crotch rockets) around this loop multiple times, no issues at all.

the loop around superior is AWESOME TOO.

HOWEVER, if you were to do the ride around superior, I suggest going through the Michigan, Wisconsin side first (clockwise). the north shore of Minnesota and the Ontario side, have far better scenic areas (in my opinion).

make sure to do the same on the bikes as you do on sleds... don't pass up the opportunity for gas. thessalon to chapleau is a good distance (140 miles, not klicks), and if you miss fuel in chapleau you will be hard pressed to make it to wawa (90 more miles). there was fuel at tunnel lake, the last time we were through the area on bikes (a few years ago). Aubrey falls and black creek will have fuel, and lunch too (call ahead).

we stayed at the Carolyn beach motor inn, in thesalon, right on lake huron, less than a mile to the hwy 129 crossing, to send you north to chapleau area.
