    • Motel Louise was the solution in Ville Marie.  Not fancy, but nothing wrong with it.  Found out the hard way that TQ83 is closed south of Notre Dame du Nord.  Not sure why I didn’t check the app, but we survived.  506 kms later we’re in Matagamy.  32 liters to get the 183 kms from the gas station on the reserve in Amos to the gas station in Matagamy.  You definitely burn through the fuel coming up the west side.  Onto Chibougamau tomorrow.  -28 tonight here.  Definitely still winter.  Snow banks in town are easily 6’ tall.  Trails have been good to absolutely f’in fantastic today.  If you are in anyway questioning it just get in the truck and head north.  You won’t regret it.
    • Is it really just a few hundred permit buyers?   What about all the service workers in the area who benefit?    Friday and Saturday nights we heard all hotels in Cochrane were booked.  Lots of sledders.  Add in Kirkland lake, Kap, Hearst, New Liskeard.   I would think the economic benefit to the area with the extended season and number of sledders kept happy would be worth the extra support required.   But I guess it is mostly diehards who make the trek and they will ride in any conditions.  So  OFSC can take easy way out!
    • Yes it can be done.   The OFSC is trying to reduce costs.  Our District(8 clubs) only sold an extra approx 200 trail permits, including day passes, over last year. We did sell more seasonal than day passes vs last year which is good. However, I was hoping to see a much larger increase in seasonal permits with the winter we had,. Doesn't look good for next year IMO.   For each groomer floated up north and returned, would equal approx 30 seasonal permit sales revenue. Does it make financial sense for a few hundred permit buyers when the OFSC is trying to save money? Would it increase permit sales? Don't know. I can't answer that.  JMO
    • I cant find my trailer keys today and im starting to think i dropped them in the parking lot beside gas station in temiscaming after pulling the tongue lock off and putting the pin back in. I have a duplicate set but its missing the man door key. If anyone happens to be parked there this week and see's them let me know please. 4-5 keys on a bright yellow lanyard thingy. Thanks.
    • They were open today, but had some staffing issues. One young lad running the whole show.  Apparently, they opened a little late, and had a group of sledders waiting at the door when he showed up.  He did a good job and got everyone fed.
