1. $440 to buy one early this year. Ouch. Has anyone heard what the OFSC is talking about for next season?
2. Heading to LaBannick Friday night and then riding to Lassere Saturday over to Amos and back to rouyn Sunday and back to the truck Monday. Anyone on the site heading that direction to be sure to stop and say hi and maybe we can have a beverage. Look for a, 2020 Polaris 600 retro graphics. Hopefully bump into someone from the site.
3. Looking for some suggestions for places to stay in Quebec & day trip out of. Don't really want to do a saddlebag tour this year. We normally like to ride in the 250-300kms per day & would like to find a decent location to stay at for a 3-4 days & ride out of 1 place. We have ridden northern Ontario so many times over the last 20 plus years that our group is looking for a change. Any first hand experience at different spots would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
4. Looks like they don't have a "gift card" option like OFSC, all I could see is to purchase the pass for my old sled and spend $30 to have the pass transferred to the new one. Am I missing something? What if you don't have an "old" sled? Suck it up and pay the $490 when it arrives before the Dec. 9th deadline? TIA< P.
5. THIS IS A REPRINT OF A POST ON QUEBEC RIDER. WORTH THE READ: SNOWMOBILE OPERATOR'S PERMIT What the law says Under Section 16 of the Act respecting Off-highway vehicles, all snowmobile operators must be at least 16 years of age. In addition, 16 and 17 year old drivers must have a certificate of competency showing that they have the skills to operate a snowmobile in addition to holding a driver's licence. The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec has mandated the ConduiPro driving schools group to dispense this information and issue a certificate of competence to those candidates that have successfully completed the theoretical training course. For additional information, please visit the ConduiPro Web site or call 1-877-766-3443. Attention ! In such instances where the snowmobile trail crosses a public roadway or utilises a road right-of-way, the operator must be the holder of a licence authorizing him under the Highway Safety Code to drive a road vehicle on such a roadway, regardless of his/her age. In addition to an automobile licence, the following permits are also authorized: Mopeds or scooters (class 6D) Probationary licence (class 5) Tractor (class http://quebecrider.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_dirol.gif NB : The learner’s licence is to be used under the same conditions as those that apply for its use on a roadway for motorcycles. For additional information, please visit : https://saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/drivers-licences/obtaining-licence/motorcycle-6a-6b-6c-6e/motorcycle-classes-6a-6b-6c?ADMCMD_prev= For non-Quebec residents Operators aged 16 and 17 years old must possess proof that they are legally entitled to operate an off-highway vehicle in their home jurisdiction in addition to holding a driver's licence. Please note that even in instances when the home state or province allows legal operation of a snowmobile to individuals aged below 16 years of age, driving a snowmobile in Quebec for anyone under 16 is strictly prohibited. What you need before you leave Your FCMQ trail permit Your vehicle registration Your driver's licence Proof of $1 000,000 liability insurance coverage A rental contract (if the snowmobile is rented) 16 and 17 year old drivers must have a certificate of competency showing that they have the skills to operate a snowmobile in addition to holding a driver's licence (V-1.3).
6. This was just posted on QR by Iceman: Heavy speeding: fines of more than than $2360 for two Americans Friday, 4 March 2022 04:05 UPDATE Friday, 4 March 2022 04:05 Two American snowmobilers aged in their fifties have been fined hefty for excessive speeding in Nord-du-Québec. The two in their fifties were intercepted by a police officer from the Lebel-sur-Quévillon station on Wednesday on a federated trail near Route 113, in the Baie-James sector, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). The first snowmobiler received a $1,546 ticket for traveling at 150 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, while the second was caught speeding 121 km/h, an offense that earned him 817 $ Fine. "These police presences aim to intervene with snowmobilers who have behaviors that compromise the safety of other users on the trails," said the SQ in a press release. https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2022/03/04/grand-exces-de-vitesse-amendes-de-plus-de-2360--pour-deux-motoneigistes-americains?fbclid=IwAR0jKsdGaErAiwlAtC7kophbqMzuxFNNa6qlShObZcm-hhaHP5Y1L4FxCUs Route 113 runs from near Senneterre up through Quevillon towards Chibougamau. I can't imagine how anyone would get a speeding ticket on the trail that parallels the highway LOL
7. I'm actively looking for land or a decent cottage (Chalet) in Quebec. Mostly for winter fun but possibly a few fishing trips in the warmer seasons. Coming from the KW region I'm thinking the areas north of Pembroke to Ottawa. North of Montreal might be better but its a much tougher commute because you have to go through the city. Another thought I have is that a central location would allow me to trailer east and west to get the most out of the northern trail network. I'm most familiar with the Mont Laurier and Lac Tareau areas although I've spent some time around Ville Marie. We most definitely want to end up in the mountains somewhere. Thoughts? P
8. Second year heading to Quebec for an extended long weekend & both fabulous experiences. 2021 we started at Meekos & did 100 Lacs & Cheval & loops in that area. Great trails but became a little monotonous at times only seeing trees & huge wide sweeping trails on logging roads. All stops, stays & foods were fabulous. 2022 we went on the free weekend & people warned us that it would be crazy busy. We left each day from our friends shop in Gatineau, even though our Motel was on the trails, about 10 minutes from the shop. It Was nice to get on warm thawed out sleds each morning 😁 With being the free weekend, we were very shocked at the lack of sleds we saw. I don’t think we saw any that were there for the free weekend & really not much local traffic each day. People must have headed further north? Beautiful fast trails!! Groomed each night & usually again around dinner time. It was fantastic to enjoy a huge variety of trail types. Single wide trails, two lane, tight technical trails, huge highway style, as well as many ups & downs in the mountains. Incredibly breathtaking views & so many deer that were not afraid of the sleds. We stopped at a few of the warm up shacks, as well as club houses. Everyone was beyond friendly & welcoming. We had one sled break down & numerous people stopped to see if they could assist & offered suggestions. Thankfully was repaired & ready to ride the next day. All in all… can’t wait to go back!! Hoping again this year before spring!!
9. Trailered up to new liskeard - left 12:30 pm to Quebec. awesome ride to rouyan noranada , then to la sarre. 256km for the afternoon. Crazy snow for a while . +5cm on the trail and lots of pushing off the sleds and clearing shield every 15 seconds of or so of wet snow. normal hotel we stay at - Repo - fully booked on a Wednesday night (????) - so we got last two rooms at le bivouac …. mine the honeymoon suite by myself- moon lighting and all!!!
10. Just checking if its open.. Have a trip planned for next week so trying to figure out where to get across on the sleds. Mike
11. As the title reads - I have a 7x24 foot trailer that we can use. Duration doesn't really matter as long as its at least 3 days of riding. Location has to be west or central as I'm coming out of KW. PM me if interested.
12. the over the hill gang rides again leaving uxbridge saturday morning returning wed morning ,can meet roughly east to ottawa or 401 heading for and staging north of Mont Tremblant up to 100 lakes resort and back .200-300 km days
13. Anyone know if the bridge to the Quyon area is open this year to cross the ottawa river. The one south of Arnprior north of Ottawa.
14. Of course here in Ontario we virtually let Freeloaders continue Freeloading with minimal enforcement, toothless Trail Patrol and insufficient penalties courtesy of unsupportive MTO and politicians. I guarantee they don’t fool around with freeloaders on Quebec trails, especially in Temiscaming where QPP supports their Trail Patrol 100%.
15. Seen these pics from Facebook today. Wow.....
16. Anyone have info from the A108Q which goes down the river towards the quebec border? (besides it being red due to health district) .. was hoping to run from Kirkland lake to Temi shores into Quebec. The club gave the usual response .. but hoping someone has run it, or someone local with insight?
17. EDIT - PLEASE SEE FCMQ RESPONSE TO QUERY ABOUT THIS CONCERN OUTLINED IN A WORD DOCUMENT POSTED BELOW SEVERAL POSTS... Topic around the facebook sites, instigated by Mr. Nicholson due to his concerns re: the passing of Bill 71. In my opinion, this bill legislates more about trail rider behaviour and less about snowmobile licensing in terms of registration plate placement....about which there seems to be a communication disconnect between Quebec police and the FCMQ. To whit, I have looked up the registration legislation as of May 2020 and provided a document which you might want to print out and copy, along with the letter posted on this forum as recently as last year. Will Bill 71 change this? Don't know. The usual "use at your own risk" verbiage applies. Document with translation: quebec sled registration and plate.docx Hope this will be helpful to some. We currently have free travel between Ontario and Quebec, although one should look at the covid regional maps to be aware of district concerns and travel between regions. https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/health-issues/a-z/2019-coronavirus/progressive-regional-alert-and-intervention-system/map-of-covid-19-alert-levels-by-region/ A bientot mes amies....(french lessons courtesy of STG)

22. Girlfriend and I are planning on riding Quebec at least once next season. Maybe more depending on what it’s like. I’ve heard Quebec is way better than Ontario. my questions are -what is the trail system like? Signage, etc? -are they wide and well groomed? -how does the insurance work on our sleds? I heard it’s included when you purchase a trail pass... -what are some good areas to ride/stay? -and is there really that much more snow? any info from anybody would be helpful! We would also like to start in Ontario, maybe ride for a day or 2 in Ontario and then ride into Quebec for another 1-2 days, so any suggestions on that would be good too! Thanks guys!
23. There is a four nights for the price of two nights promotion at Au Chalet en Bois Rond (chalets built of large logs) close by Saint Raymond. The week of Ontario March break is pretty well booked up by the look of things (but have a look anyway in case your options are different) We stayed in one of the chalets last year and had a great time. Many trails in the area for day loops. Looking forward to extending ms. slomo's kilometers without a lost time collision on the wide and well sighted trails on our next stay and enjoy the scenary. https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en See this and several other offers on their promotion page: https://www.auchaletenboisrond.com/en/offers/promotions Found it easy to book by phone as opposed to on-line reservation - good English spoken, but did not laugh a lot at my French. Franglais I guess you would call it. The only drawbacks are the possibility of rain in this area later in March and a fairly stiff cancellation policy - seems to be de rigeur among Quebec's upper scale places. Added : link to last year's report..... https://ontarioconditions.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19914-straymond-quebec-march-8-12/&tab=comments#comment-286158
