EV now says three storms this weekend and bonechilling into 2009.

Anybody seen my Trunk Monkey??

I got him doing work on the forum :rotflmao::rotflmao:

Looks like Joe Bastardi was right... I have read alot of EC special weather statements and this one was one of a kind... Are we in for The Perfect Snowstorms? With the lakes wide open and a east wind, watch out Hamilton!!!! And that is where I am heading...

I will do some research and talk to a few of my Met friends and see what I can find out..

Huh? Should I ask?

I was just watching an update about the next system to roll through....it is actually sitting over California right now. And they are saying it should be here by tomorrow night (through the night).

Maybe the kids will get an early start to the Christmas holidays!!!

(8 more sleeps)

Well it looks like the storm is still coming.. Here's the 8:42am weather warinf for Kitchener..

Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo

8:42 AM EST Thursday 18 December 2008

Winter storm watch for

Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo continued

Major snow storm expected on Friday.

This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Mother nature is striking southern Ontario with a series of winter storms. On Friday a fast-moving but dynamic storm will have emerged from Colorado and will race close to the lower Great Lakes. Heavy snow is expected to begin in southwestern Ontario near midnight reaching the greater Toronto region near dawn Friday morning. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are widely expected across much of the lower Great Lakes by Friday evening.

Strong east winds of 40 gusting at times to 60 km/h will develop early Friday. This will compound the severity of the storm giving near white-out conditions at times in falling and blowing snow. The storm may even have an extra sting around the west end of Lake Ontario due to the potential for a lake-enhanced heavy snow band which may affect locales from Oakville into Toronto for awhile Friday before shifting towards Hamilton and Niagara. Local accumulations near the west end of the lake may reach 25 centimetres.

Warnings will likely be issued as the storm approaches.

Farther north..The snow squalls have weakened to the Lee of Georgian Bay. Flurries will continue for awhile today but amounts will be only 2 to 4 centimetres in a few locales today.

And here's the latest Special Weather Statement from EC...

WOCN11 CWTO 181048

Special weather statement

18 December 2008.

Special weather statement issued for..

Cornwall - Morrisburg

Smiths Falls - Lanark - Sharbot Lake

Parry Sound - Muskoka

Haliburton

Renfrew - Pembroke - Barry's Bay

Algonquin

Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet.

..The series of snow storms continues..

Mother nature from time to time will line up a near perfect set of

conditions that generate a series of significant events. That time

appears to be the coming week or so for many portions of southern

Ontario in the form of snow storms. There appears to the right

balance of sufficiently cold air in place with Arctic highs to the

north and a storm track along the lower Great Lakes. The cumulative

effect of multiple storms over the same general area can have

significant impacts.

A blanket of 10 centimetres fell Tuesday night into Wednesday across

much of the lower Great Lakes. But a much more significant snow

storm originating from Colorado is targeting the region on Friday.

Heavy snow combined with strong easterly winds will produce a

particularly nasty storm with blowing snow reducing local

visibilities. There is also the possibility of ice pellets or

freezing rain mixed with the snow for the extreme southwest.

A winter storm watch continues in effect for this Friday event from

the southwest into the Golden Horseshoe. Amounts near 15 centimetres

are likely with locally more possible near the west end of Lake

Ontario. Somewhat lesser amounts are expected across ski country

into Ottawa.

There are strong indications of another significant storm on Sunday.

The current forecast is that this low may track along the northern

Shores of lakes Erie and Ontario..Similar to but just north of the

track of the Friday storm. Precipitation should be mainly in the

Form of snow..Possibly mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain.

General snow amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are not out of the

question with the higher amounts expected to occur just north of the

Track of the low. Again..Strong winds with this low will reduce

visibilities in local blowing snow.

Total accumulations from the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday events may

reach 50 centimetres in some areas. The cumulative effects of these

three storms will make travel over this pre-Christmas period very

difficult at times. Stay tuned for Environment Canada updates on

this developing situation.

Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be

found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public

forecast will be issued by 11 AM.
