LuvMyViper
Time for the oc.com SnowDancer... Auditions can be made on this thread.. WOCN11 CWTO 181559 Special weather statement Issued by Environment Canada Ontario region. 10:59 AM EST Thursday 18 December 2008. Special weather statement issued for.. City of Toronto Windsor - Essex - Chatham-Kent Sarnia - Lambton Elgin London - Middlesex Simcoe - Delhi - Norfolk Dunnville - Caledonia - Haldimand Oxford - Brant Niagara City of Hamilton Halton - Peel York - Durham Huron - Perth Waterloo - Wellington Dufferin - Innisfil Grey - Bruce Barrie - Orillia - Midland Belleville - Quinte - Northumberland Kingston - Prince Edward Peterborough - Kawartha Lakes Stirling - Tweed - South Frontenac Bancroft - Bon Echo Park Brockville - Leeds and Grenville City of Ottawa Gatineau Prescott and Russell Cornwall - Morrisburg Smiths Falls - Lanark - Sharbot Lake Parry Sound - Muskoka Haliburton Renfrew - Pembroke - Barry's Bay Algonquin Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet. ..The series of snow storms continues.. Mother nature from time to time will line up a near perfect set of conditions that generate a series of significant events. That time appears to be the coming week or so for many portions of southern Ontario in the form of snow storms. There appears to the right balance of sufficiently cold air in place with Arctic highs to the north and a storm track along the lower Great Lakes. The cumulative effect of multiple storms over the same general area can have significant impacts. A blanket of 10 centimetres fell Tuesday night into Wednesday across much of the lower Great Lakes. But a much more significant snow storm originating from Colorado is targeting the region on Friday. Heavy snow combined with strong easterly winds will produce a particularly nasty storm with blowing snow reducing visibilities. There may also be some ice pellets mixed with the snow for the extreme southwest. A winter storm watch continues in effect for this Friday event from the southwest into the Golden Horseshoe. Amounts near 15 centimetres are likely with locally more possible near the west end of Lake Ontario. Lesser amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected across parts of ski country into Ottawa. Another significant storm is setting its aim on southern Ontario on Sunday. The current forecast is that this low may track across Southern Ontario..Similar to but just north of the track of the Friday storm. Precipitation should be mainly in the form of Snow..Possibly mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain. General snow amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are not out of the question with the higher amounts expected to occur just north of the track of the low. Again..Strong winds with this low will reduce visibilities in local blowing snow. Total accumulations from the Wednesday, Friday and Sunday events may reach 50 centimetres in some areas. The cumulative effects of these three storms will make travel over this pre-Christmas period very difficult at times. Stay tuned for Environment Canada updates on this developing situation. Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public forecast will be issued by 3.30 PM. LuvMyViper
And the latest EC Weather Warning... Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo 10:49 AM EST Thursday 18 December 2008 Winter storm watch for Kitchener - Cambridge - Region of Waterloo continued Major snow storm expected on Friday. This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. Mother nature is striking southern Ontario with a series of winter storms. Later today a dynamic storm will emerge from Colorado and race close to the lower Great Lakes on Friday. Heavy snow is forecast to begin in southwestern Ontario overnight reaching the greater Toronto region near dawn Friday morning. Snowfall amounts of 15 centimetres are widely expected across much of the lower Great Lakes by Friday evening. Strong east winds of 40 gusting at times to 60 km/h will develop early Friday. This will compound the severity of the storm giving near white-out conditions at times in falling and blowing snow. The storm will likely have an extra sting around the west end of Lake Ontario due to the potential for a lake-enhanced heavy snow band which may affect locales from Oakville into Toronto for awhile Friday morning before shifting towards Hamilton and Niagara. Local accumulations near the west end of the lake may reach 25 centimetres. Warnings will likely be issued this afternoon as the storm approaches. skidooer
I hate to spoil the good snow cheer in here, but typically when they call for a storm, especially one as big as this, it never comes. The only time we get snow is when it is a complete surprise to everyone. Also, those high winds will blow away any snow we might get.

What snow bank did we bury the last guy in, who made a post like this? Nothing, he`s still posting.. I hate his thunderstorm theory!!!!! We were stunned at WNM`s place when there was a big flash of lightning and thunder during heavy snow.. That was Nov 15th... And the other negative weather poster is ViperRules.. As for the blowing snow, it`s good for my area where we mainly ride fence lines. Either way, it`s a good sign that we are quickly heading into WINTER.. I have a new sled and a new riding partner I want to try out asap...

The second in a series of snowstorms is coming in right on target towards southern Ontario today. The Colorado low was born as Expected and is now making a bee line northeast and will move across Ohio today into Pennsylvania tonight. Heavy snow has arrived into southwestern Ontario with Windsor airport already reporting 3 cm in under an hour along with visibility of only a couple hundred metres in heavy snow. The snow will reach across the greater Toronto area during the morning rush hour and on into eastern Ontario by noon. Most of eastern Ontario into ski country will be near the northern Fringe of this storm..With snowfall amounts of 10 centimetres or Less on tap. This storm has spawned winter storm warnings for heavy snow and blowing snow from Wingham to Peterborough to Kingston and south. Travellers should note that winter storm warnings are also in effect for large parts of the neighbouring states of Michigan and New York.
