For unknown reasons, the snowmobile began to move forward, and the worker tried to hold it back. The snowmobile collided with a van on Bastien Boulevard. Perhaps spinning track on a stand, came off stand and took off.....I am always very cautions when I do that in the garage for the fear of it taking off either into the garage door or my vehicles parked in the driveway! 1049 Posted September 5 Share Posted September 5 NEWS ACCIDENTS Wednesday, September 4, 2024 17:53 Emergency services responded around 3:45pm to an accident involving a snowmobile and a vehicle on boulevard Bastien. The CNESST is on site, as this is a work-related accident. According to initial information from the Service de police de la Ville de Québec, a man was injured while working on a snowmobile in a mechanic's garage. For unknown reasons, the snowmobile began to move forward, and the worker tried to hold it back. The snowmobile collided with a van on Bastien Boulevard. The impact was violent, as you can see on the images. The man, aged in his sixties, suffered serious injuries to his upper body. The CNESST is on site and is investigating the accident as it occurred in a mechanical garage. The SPVQ is assisting the CNESST investigators. The situation caused severe congestion in the area, at the height of rush hour. Traffic had to be closed southbound, but not northbound. Police reopened southbound at around 5:39 pm. Been some incidents about this in past. Skidoo had a recall on early models for this very incident. We're some cases of throttle going wide open, on wire by throttle ones, on early four strokes.
