It will still be approx 160 miles to wawa via trail, and 140-150 to Chapleau. But, still good news. At the ski hill. note how small the tank is, plan your stop accordingly, guessing on the weekends it could run dry. Also, this really wont help the searchmont to Wawa/Chapleau fuel issue, as everyone arrived/left from Searchmont, fueled anyway. It still will be 150 miles (not km's) to Chapleau, and 170 miles (again... not km's) to Wawa. I am not knocking it, because it will help the local, loopers around the Sault, Searchmont, Goulais, Heyden, Black Creek/Aubrey falls, and Echo Bay, Elliot Lake area riders But, it really will have no effect on the touring riders between the Sault, Chapleau, and Wawa. It is a start though. Ski

Dan-Senior
Searchmont Updates For those who may not have not sledded through Searchmont in the past winter or so, the Searchmont Resort has built a very nice dining area and bar, named the Kiln. You may find it handy on your ventures through the region. https://searchmont.com/the-kiln/

Dan-Senior
Sault Ste. Marie - Updates Greetings from sunny downtown Sault Ste. Marie. Sledding season is on hold in what is normally a city that has significant snow. Dan
skidooboy
Man, usually they are cutting and hauling street side snow banks away, due to no more room to plow snow. Crazy winter. We will be going up Thursday, I have scheduled my PAL class in Wawa for friday, and Saturday. It will make it easier to bring hunting items across, and participate in the local rod and gun clubs. Ox
We used to run Hot Doggers (smaller unit than the Miff Pot). I think that the last time that I used that was one beautiful day when we were riding in + temps all day. It was tough going off-trail tho. Plenty of stucks I think. I had burritos in my [black] tank bag. When I put the burritos in the Dogger, they were both thawed, but didn't think much aboot it. We stopped at dusk for supper, and I made it aboot 100-200 meters and I was already sick! We were still 60 klicks from Halfway, and I had a hard time moving. Chums were playing and soon enough we were on the groomed trail for the last 45 klicks. I remember riding ahead slowly while they played. I got a ways ahead and stopped, shut the sled off, laid back on the sled and wished I was dead. I could hear noises in the bush beside me. I suspected that it was just sluffing snow, but it could have been a moose? I didn't care, I just laid there. After a few years of that - the novelty wore off, and I am just fine with dry goods packed for the day anymore. . 2
