  1. It is mostly middle class that own snowmobiles, not wealthy. Also snowmobile puts way more back into economy then what is given back to sport. Government subsidizes lots of things that never even turn a profit. Ilt in Kitchener is a prime example of that. We all pay for it but only a select few mostly seniors and students and low income people use it now.
  2. Mine is 102” wide. If you have new power mirror’s that extend out or can add them to vehicle, it is worth it. I am 12 feet long and can easily get two long tracks in. I like wider trailer because it is easier to navigate parking lots, and easier to park at hotels and resorts (takes abit less space) Just seeing Down sides is a challenge with regular mirrors. 11 feet will be a challenge to strap and secure long tracks and close door. Can be done but not much room to spare. I think 12 feet by 102 is new standard.
  3. It has been tough going. We just finished last weekend. With high moisture and propane shortage it has been tough to dry corn down and get it into storage. I haven’t heard of any serious quality problems, allot better this year then last. We got lucky and majority of ours was all top grade, with good bushel weights.
  4. I remember north east hope club getting one, when their groomer broke down. I believe the tractor and chains was a spare district had on hand. That was awhile ago though and did a good job on hard pack trails. I only seen it on trails once.
  5. Ofsc would have an idea for sure. I am sure some of this knowledge is shared at Agm and will come to light eventually, hopefully not in a bad way near end of season either. Cross our fingers for a good winter for all areas of ontario.
  6. ofsc knows current permit totals and I am sure mto knows how many snowmobilers bought Val tags this season. Be nice to see some real numbers that are up to date.
  7. Looks great now just need to screw in some I-grips for extra traction on hard packed icy surfaces.
  8. Been like that for awhile but enforcement only goes down it seems. Police departments are all Over budgets and under staffed and don’t want to spend any more time in court, fighting potential trespass fines is my guess. I know one volunteer around here recieved a ticket on his atv for crossing road without wearing a helmet while setting up trails. Talk about an expensive day.
  9. Many departments don’t have sleds anymore either. So patrol is limited to road crossings and sitting in a patrol vehicle. Drones hovering above trail taking video might be more effective and sent fines out in mail, like red light camera. Just bill owner of the sled for 500 bucks. That would turn things around quick.
  10. Same thing along pipe lines. All have landowners that are starting to get sensitive to free riders going all over place too.
  11. Lets see how it works out in Manitoba. Some change is necessary No doubt. INo one knows what right approach going forward is. Early permit at a discount is starting to catch up to us and permit numbers aren’t growing anymore. So a different approach is necessary. I think there are around 160 k sleds registered in ontario and approx 52000 full season permits sold (just rough facts not sure on current numbers). I see panther has a rough estimate too. Does anyone know the real permit numbers and registered sleds in ontario for 2019 season? Also what permit numbers are for 2020 season. I see no press release from ofsc so maybe numbers are down again,, I dunno!
  12. That is for sure. I don’t know circumstances besides he was sent out by himself at night. President is still a volunteer position though. Tragic what happened no Doubt.
  13. Really difficult to solve this. Been happening for years but seems to get worse as smaller towns grow in population. Our road has at lest 3 times the vehicle traffic now, then it had 15 years ago. We now have more four way stops and stop lights around as well. I see more atv’s sitting around in trucks and trailers now too, and see a far bit getting driven on side of roads even though Wilmot has a ban on them. Some enforcement would be nice and less police around, since new Hamburg department was shut down Bottom line if they are traveling roads you know some are using trail system, unfortunately.
  14. All terrible news for us southern riders. Real issue is government has cut funding to allot of programs within areas like grand river conversation authority and insurance is a major cost. As a result they want ofsc to fund liability insurance for whole year. Conestoga and Belwood areas were some of best areas for me to ride near home and many other riders too. I wonder if ofsc can survive without d5 and parts of 9?
  15. Maybe they can re open it. I remember when D was closed north of town a few years ago too, not sure if that is still going on?
  16. I was thinking same. Loggers sure do make nice wide snowmobile trails. Most leave a section of snow on side for snowmobilers too, which is appreciated by most sledders. My interaction with loggers has been mostly positive on snowmobile. The two can co exist if both sides respect each other and slow down in affected areas,
  17. On 900 ace you can rotate thumb throttle so it becomes finger throttle. It is still heated and always you to use a couple of fingers instead of one thumb. With grips being heated too it is a nice feature, once you get use to it. Female riders tend to love it. Grip throttle like a motorcycle would be cold, since I believe those can’t be heated either. Brrrrrr just thinking about it.
  18. I wonder if it has something to do with enforcement or if riders in Quebec have more respect for other users. Interesting observation.
  19. With the atv’s you can get a trail pass for a day or two days easily. Go into a local area usually a resort or general store and fill out form and away you go. I never got a sticker just a receipt. Can get them online too and print out receipt as well. They usually give you a map as well. Works out well. Never seen much patrolling just on hailburton rail trail once, they were stopping atv’s and looking for insurance and trail pass.
  20. My is all marine grade plywood. They must have switched to keep costs of trailer down. Others like mission had chip board when I was looking.
  21. Lightning makes good trailers too. Never had an issue with mine and use it all year for my business. Mine is a 2010.
  22. Really! It is for a great cause. I just hope they have Canadian wings, after all it is local farmers that allow the trails to exist in first place.
  23. Great better save me some forty creek ones. Cheers!
  24. They have joint permits now in some areas. I only buy day passes so it doesn’t matter to me. Atv is fun for a few rides a year, away from home.
