  1. The only thing that did....LOL! It seems all feedback on these are excellent.....hoping the Kimpex versions are just a good. The other bonus to thinner gloves would be less fatigue on the fingers.....yes, getting old, out of shape, etc....
  2. Interesting on the price, I was sure when I was looking them up the other day I saw them over $200....which seemed steep, but never thought twice about it!
  3. I assume you are referring to the Kimpex versions......reading this thread and the thought of me buying the DOO ones the last few years, but not actually doing it, I decided to search again this year and found these: https://www.kimpex.com/en-ca/products/snowmobile/steering-and-controls/handguards/kimpex-snowmobile-muff-with-window The DOO ones are over $200.00, if I am not mistaken vs. these that are less than $100.00. I just went to ORPS this morning and bought a pair (FYI...they have more on the shelf). They look good, have not tried them on the sled yet, will do that in the next few weeks, if they work as I expect they will, I will invest in a pair of light winter gloves to use and carry my usual Klim gloves with me on rides.
  4. Insurance was up this year, called in to adjust sled value to today's value, new rate same as last year now.... I'm with TD.
  5. How about the insurance on the land they run on vs. the equipment itself?
  6. LOL...I was reading this post and thinking the exact same thing. You know they had to add a place to sleep in the Canyon, otherwise doing the speed limit, I am not sure you would be able to make the return trip following the "rules"....
  7. x2 on this. Used to be a good place for an early season ride before OFSC trails are open to scratch that itch. For a newby to the sport, it is a good as they offer rentals, lodging, food, gas and a trail system that is usually well maintained having plenty of cottage roads that is their main trail system. And do not forget, they actually make their own snow too.....
  8. Are classic permits still offered, if so, what do they cost now a days?
  9. Good news....but just means the freeloaders can't run the trails at least one day a year with zero possible reprocautions....
  10. I do not think he has been a Cat dealer for a few years now....so nothing to purge.
  11. So make sure you use a card with a low limit, is what you're saying I guess the same scenario could apply for uhaul trailers....but they are normally plated with US plates, hmmmm, wonder why that is....
  12. Pretty sure that will fall into business use as too much of a gray area. Besides, most that have one likely have a business so they will have the sticker. Which makes me wonder how home depot third party equipment rentals got around the Yellow sticker with the gear they rent nowadays.
  13. This looks very promising, but doesn't exempt anyone running your personal equipment with no maintenance! Long overdue. Now just a matter of determining your use for some as you trailer away.... X2
  14. Looks like Redstone lake closer to Bitter gets narrow and likely more current and ice you want to stay clear of. Possibly a cottage road that takes you closer to the big portion of Redstone.
  15. I have the other doo mod helmet, big weight difference between that and my mx, main reason I continue to wear my mx. That was one of the things I liked about mine.....no wires!
  16. No, I have actually never been asked to blow on any trail stops on my sled. What I am referencing are trail side stops that I have been involved in, in the last few years.....and witnessing officers that have no knowledge or were checking for trail permit on my sled or the other sleds that they were checking at the same time as me. Based on the new protocol, sounds like if I am now stopped by three sets of officers in the same area, I will be blowing all three times........sounds like good times are ahead!
  17. Oh no, there was no pretending, the one officer even asked me about the permit on the sled when I inquired why they were not checking for them.....I think it was new officers on the job. Both times it was in the Gravenhurst area and stopped multiple times in a short span by a variety of officers, mostly officers in cruisers parked at trail crossing near roads, rather annoying, but such is life.
  18. Because sadly many of the non OPP save officers really don't know about the trail system or trail pass. ....wouldn't be the first I've been stopped at trail/roadside check and the officer knew nothing about the trail pass.....
  19. Are you telling me that some of the folks on here have not been been at or near an accident, only to hear it on the news that night and you start to wonder if they are reporting a completely different accident based on the media's version of what you know to just take place?
  20. There is that little thing about the gene pool rapidly reclining.... Goes something like 90% of the laws are put in place because of the 10%.....but one brush for all..... So all this talk of alcohol, impairment while behind the wheel, etc.....anyone know what the testing will be for riding/driving while being high???
  21. If you believe and listen to the reports as of late, the failure rate on the roads is significantly higher, so no surprised by this at all......but I find it hard to believe all the news of course & also believe there is more at play than just the facts. Agree that the public is slowly being controlled by all that we do.....is that because of the sheer amount of stupid people that we are now surrounded by, likely, just look around you, it is a sad state when it comes to any type of common sense.
  22. I am sure there is some stat out there that would suggest that....likely endorsed by the Ontario government.... When we did Ontario trips, one of the things on our minds was usually getting to our destination in time to be able to still grab some beer from the local liquor store so we could have a few laughs and wobbly pops back at the rooms. In QC, that does not matter, just stop into the closest corner store and pick up a case.
  23. Trails are very nice They too also see the effects of the warmer weather, so conditions are not always perfect depending on locations As noted, not all wide highways, great mixture of everything Signage is good in some spots not so great in others, as far as directions & the trail you are on, the warnings about corners or hills ahead is a bit overdone IMO The hospitality is likely the best part, it is what they do, just call to request some literature from the tourism group and look at the stuff they send you. Pull into just about any town and people will open their door to help you, especially if you pull into a town that is normally closed to tourist until Thurs to Sun when the folks arrive in greater numbers, people open the doors and do what ever they can to accommodate you...like the resort owner calling the local grocery store because everything is closed, order a pizza and they deliver to us, which they normally do not do delivery, and the person delivering refuses to take anything extra for it. But the best, best part is, you can buy beer from anywhere !!!
  24. I vote for a new helmet that does not use cords! Either one of the Doo modular helmets, they work great and do not need a heated visor or go with an MX style helmet, but I know some people think they suck, too cold, etc...it is all do with set up, need to find what works for you, we are all different. When I did run an electric shield, I carried a spare harness, but never needed it...just lucky I guess.
