  1. big temp swings, make the air pressure change wildly. check the daytime night time, temps difference, or the temp difference when inflating, and checking. stranger things. Ski
  2. Barn cams are down, will need to reset next time up. No change, still in a snow drought. Ski
  3. Michigan seasonal sled tag is 52.50 USD (I believe). not a fan of freeloader weekends, be it fishing, sledding, orv/atv/cycle weekends. we have several in michigan per year. it is the weekend to avoid the northwoods. every yahoo with a hoopty sled, tow vehicle, rv, and or trailer is on the roads, breaking down, and overcrowding the trails, lakes, rivers, parks, and camping. Ski
  4. that is how we met most of our current sledding friends. most groups are open to letting people that are by themselves, tag along. but, some... not so much. read the group, the body language etc... have a conversation, and then decide if you would like to ask to ride with them. they may not fit you, as much as you might not fit them. Ski
  5. rim bead leak. common in salty areas. salt, grit get into the bead area, chafe the rim bead, and creates small voids that leak. usually a good tire store will sand the wheel edge, then coat it with a bead sealant, and try again, until there is no leak. I would bet if you spray soapy water on the bead it is leaking on the inside or outside. or they missed a crew, nail, small pin hole. Ski
  6. it says you "should" carry the paperwork but, there is no requirement or law. (that I am aware of). your results may vary. Ski
  7. Thank you for sharing your story Bill. You have a remarkable family, and a remarkable life. Cancer does not and will not define you, or your character. Keep up the good work, and the good fight. There are many new breakthroughs in cancer treatments and technologies. I had a good friend diagnosed with the same prostate cancer a few years ago, he struggled through treatments, and is in an experimental treatment now, and currently his most recent check showed no cancer present. You too can beat this! you know you have support and friends here, lean on us, when you need to. Ski
  8. have fun dan. I always loved the ride from echo bay to Aubrey/ Black Creek. Ski
  9. I remember when they only updated it on Tuesday and Thursday. And then if there was an error or omission, it wasnt corrected until the next update, maybe. I just learned not to trust it. Speak with our local club reps, and look out the window, and decide if I want to ride or not. But, with us being on almost 100% crown land or frozen waterways, that is easy to do. I understand not everyone rides where we do, and have those options with private land, and trail closures. Ski
  10. Not much of a change as far as more snow but, it is cold, firming things up, and making more ice. Ski
  11. but, how long does it take to update the ITG, and who does that, and who authorizes the change? Ski
  12. Had one of the multi gates in the shop today, I specifically dropped the small section and left the big section up, then just leaned on the top, where you would place the track, suspension of the sled on for transport... the hinges were flexing badly, and I was not reefing on it by any means... no way I would put a 400lb plus sled on it, then drive. In my opinion (yeah I know), you are asking for problems. your results may vary. Ski
  13. why not just leave the gate down? never understood why people want the sled tail high, resting on the tail gate. raising the trucks center of gravity, and the possibility for denting, twisting the gate. not to mention what will happen when the brakes are applied hard, or the truck hits a stout object, sending the sled cartwheeling ass over end, forward. one suggestion to you is, to lube the heck out of all the hinges, motors, etc... that is what is going to make the multiple use gate fail and lock into "normal" position faster than anything. congrats on the new truck. Ski
  14. it is a hard question to answer. everyone is different, in their likes, wants, needs. I will say that, many buy a mid size truck, thinking the fuel economy will be better, then reality sets in. that isnt always the truth, and once you hook a smaller truck to any load, the mileage really drops. when you look at the costs of mid size trucks, for a few G's more, you are into a larger truck, better towing capacities, and the mileage may even be the same, or better with the larger truck. then you get into the interior and what you can fit into the truck as far as cargo, gear, people... bigger truck is always more comfortable. you may own the truck but, would you ever want to sit in the back for 4-8 hours or longer? you do need to think about your family, and friends on those trips (unfortunately). then you also have, the tail wagging the dog syndrome on towing... smaller truck, bigger load, cross wind, snow, ice, hills, high speeds... if you tow, you need a capable vehicle to overcome the dynamics of the load you are carrying. and I mean, not in a way the manual says, it is "ok" to tow with. some people believe and like the way their smaller vehicles tow, until they get into a bad situation. they may be able to tow the load but, can they control it, and stop it, in a bad situation? Like Nunz, (did) I have a Tacoma, it is basically a car with a bed, and use it as my daily driver, dirt bike, pedal bike hauler. it says it will haul 6500 lbs... not a chance I would try that! Having towed an enclosed hybrid (lightweight) trailer, with only one sled in it, from Michigan to Northern Ontario, one time... was enough for me. but, I am spoiled, and also have a 2500, if I need to haul something, I have that option. in the end it is personal choice, I understand economics plays into this more than anything but, for me, buy the most capable unit you can. buy once cry once. we have way too much invested in our sport so, you determine what your budget is, and the outcome will follow. What I am saying is, dont rush into buying a smaller truck. when you take the test drive, load your trailer with your normal load, and go for a real drive. then make your choice. Ski
  15. Wow! What a difference a day makes. Instant slush, dirt, and spring conditions. Water everywhere! This will set things back. Sorry people. Ski
  16. we use these. covers skis and all. yes, I know it is for a cat but, you get the idea. super lightweight, packable, can reduce down to a very small size to pack away, if you want to travel with it. not a trailerable cover but, does overnight outdoors, and dust duties in the garage nicely. Ski
  17. the cam and the over look pics are really deceiving. they are in the open, and the wind has blown all the snow off the surrounding areas. there is a good 2 feet plus here. I have a pic of the mountain of snow in the soo from yesterday. I posted pics in the northern sections of our place, after the dig out yesterday. Ski
  18. It is only a start, they are just packing with the Pisten Bully, not using the drag, at this time. we are going out, to check out a water spot over a bridge tomorrow, and going to Hawk, for a Big Bear Burger. Ski
  19. Instantly deep! Note: The Township is now heavily sanding the streets. Going to O'Mavrik' (Luc's old quickie mart) will be painful by sled. Using the trail north of the fuel stop, and the "alley" between the trail and houses, will cut out a lot of dirty riding, to get to the hotel. Using the river and trail vs town streets will be better, to access the pub/resto, lcbo, hardware, and grocery store. Ski
  20. @Dan-Senior we drove through the Soo today, they have February depth snow, right now! it is crazy what you guys have. Along the same token... we shoveled out the house in Dub when we arrived tonight... We have February snow depth too. usually I dont start level shoveling from the deck, off to yard snow depth but, this day, was the day. front deck is level with snow depth, back deck is above deck. we did get some freezing rain north of Wawa, into Dub tonight. seems to have switched over to snow but, who knows for how long. if you are looking for something to do, we are here until Sunday morning. Ski
  21. forecasting rain, mixed and above freezing for a week starting next week. here comes the see saw winter. ride safe, ride as often as you can, when you can. Ski
