  1. Restaurant roundabout this year, so bear with me lol. DJ's Bar and Grill, at Silversands that opened last winter is no more. The lovely Donna and Jade have walked away from that location, and no one is running that restaurant as of end of October. DJ's are now running the Legion kitchen, replacing Fork on the Trail, owned by the lovely April and her crew. Edgewater is no longer running their Suds on Main location, they have leased the bar and restaurant to April, and she is now calling it Fork On Main. Jake and Joanne are running Pit Stop 518 in the old Kearney Oneills location just west of Fetterleys gas station. Edgewater is currently closed on Mondays and Fetterley gas station is closed on Sundays but that might change by sled time. Both closures are due to staff shortages. Now hours as of end of October are| Pit Stop Friday Saturday Sunday, 4 to 8 only. Fully licensed, lots of seating and parking for sleds. Fork on Main (formerly Suds) 7 days a week, 8 to 8 or 9 on weekends, fully licensed DJ's Legion location Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday 9 to 8 or 9 Edgewater daily except Mondays. You can still grab coffee and snacks at Fetterleys, Rickwards Polaris dealership grocery store and the variety store beside the liquor store. There will also be a vegan from scratch bakery in the building next to Fork on Main (Suds) where Driftwood was last winter. It is still under construction. Dustin closed Driftwood in February. If there are any changes in days open or hours I will put updates just before sled season. As for accomodation, it seems every house sold in Kearney in the past year has been turned into an airbnb, so check the usual social media sales pages for info on new places to stay in Kearney.

  5. We may have been in that same blizzard as you. We were on the north shore when the weather took control of our day . Destination was Rimouski got escorted into Mont Joli by a road supervisor as he was closing down the roads . At the edge of town we were meet by the police he told us to run the roads and booked us a motel room at the Quality Inn . Awesome motel , good location for trail access , meals etc. So the plan now is to finally get to Rimouski and take in a Jr A hockey game . Never meet a Quebecer l didn't like .

  6. The night we finally reached the river there was in a big storm blowing and already about 9 pm. The gas station attendant said the flatbed tow could only take 2 guys at a time in the cab of the truck. I never asked him about a taxi so it would take a bunch of trips. I don't believe I was even thinking clearly and was just focused on getting to the motel. We had like 12 sleds and the time it would take to get us across was more of an issue than the $ at that point. I just went out to figure another way as we were all very tired and just wanted to be done for that day. We kept thinking of just taking the bridge, but the guy said we would be arrested. We did not really understand where we were and had taken roads to get to the town as trails were not passable especially in the dark. We were too tired to keep digging out stuck sleds. There was probably a premium to be paid for this "emergency" night time storm service anyway. Planning ahead would be a much better idea, but we were glad to even make it to the town as we were told not to even leave that morning.

  9. I appreciate the message and it needs to get out there. That was accomplished in 15 seconds. The rest of it felt like 10 minutes and was just crap. That crap help to lose the key message and that is to stay on the f'in trail you morons. I had to play it twice, once for each permit. 15 seconds.... that's my attention span. After that I throw poop!

  11. Won't affect the riding we do or the trailering, too short of a season and other than boating its our fun time of the year for those months. Already starting to think about some upcoming trips, Just need the sleds to arrive before the season starts.
