  1. That looks great, thank you for some inside info! A group of will be heading there coming Saturday for 8 days! We will try to stay out of alma st Jean areas. We may head north of lac st Jean through valin around tudussac to saugaunay then down Mt apical and stay at la tuque. I hope they get snow, but does not look promising.
  2. Yep missed again.......as of now (7am) there is only 4 inches on the ground where we are (30 min north of PS). doesn't look like we are going to get too much snow. hoping that the wind changes or something and it hits us.
  3. I know you can park in dunchurch down by the outdoor arena. There is a park by the lake in mckellar you may be ok with as well for the day. Go north or east, snow is pretty thin near parry sound thus far.
  4. Picked up the new sled today, look forward to riding the new doo! I didn't get the additional lights and I am thinking I should upgrade the headlights.
  5. i love all the covered bridges in that area!
  6. I was told that mine is supposed to ship this week according to the dealer. We will see. Glad that you have at least one for now.
  7. Yes to the studded track and scrachers, I would not want to do it without.. when we did it, was not a stitch of snow
  8. Friend took me out last year riding over the island, we got to the island from south of the swing bridge. The conditions were not the greatest when we did it, as it was glare ice, but it did look rather safe other than the 5 or so bubblers that we had to skip. I'm sure we could have went around them, but as a follower i followed...lol I don't know what the safe time frame is for sledding across. Closer to the upcoming season, i could send you some gps tracks that we took. We ended up getting off at Glenn Burney marina and hopping on the fitness trail and heading north.
  9. If you still have a problem, Georgian bay trailers is the one mentioned above off of ostler park drive. If its a bolt you just need? hit up parry sound auto parts or muskoka auto parts. I am always in parry sound, usually daily if you should need a hand or any tools.
  10. They have some heavy equipment in on the hydro line doing work in that section. i seen a excavator there last week on my way by, not quite sure what they are doing, because i had thought that there was already a new bridge over the creek in that area. There maybe a little lake jump around that spot, but like you i always run nine mile.
  11. My sidewinder 141 xtx has a 1.6 cobra, and i just hit 17k km for the track. It still looks like great, and i should get another few seasons out of it. I put in dupont sliders 2 years ago. I do not ride roads too often(when i can avoid them), and i am careful not to hammer it in low snow conditions. For my riding i will most likely stick to the 1.6, but if i think i was going to road ride alot and hammer it on low snow/rocky conditions i would for sure want something smaller.
  12. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good parking spot as far south on the C as possible? i am having to trailer from Parry Sound...what a joke... Ramsomair are you in for a weekday ride? Anyone else from the forum wanting to meet up for a ride?
  13. i was ice fishing in some back lakes yesterday when a conservation officer stopped to check things out. He had mentioned that the trails are being used by lots of people, and had no sign of any opp on the trails. Not so many road crossings for them to sit up in this area, as they will be waiting a long time.
  14. I had found it reasonable for what you get. Seemed the same prices as tapatoo, only the rooms were nicer we had thought. And yes it seems like a crap meal at mc d's is over 15$ now..haha......cheap=no nice=YES
  15. I Dont think it was mentioned, but the Log Cabin Inn, off the 209 is a pretty nice spot. Wife and i usually hit there once a year for a nice dinner and stay. Rooms are nice and the food is good. It is listed on the sled map.
  16. Thanks Slomo, licience stickers ordered! The send me a pdf just in case until the new one arrives.
  17. Stupid Question: Just noticed that i have not updated my license sticker on the side of the sled since 2020. Is this something that i have to go to the drivers license office to renew or is it something that can be done online? I am assuming that the renewal was sent to my old address, so never thought anything about it... Thanks in advance for any help...
  18. Not up north but in Parry Sound, most restaurant log books have been largely from the 519,416 area codes all summer/fall. The biggest complaint that i have heard is not from the visits from the city people, but the attitude that some of them bring. Its been a hard year for all restaurants and the wait staff, and i think they are fed up with the crap. All the locals here seem to understand that we want the business, but it does come at a risk. Some restaurants would have rather stayed open for take out with all the travelers, and some are doing that like the Duck Rock Restaurant in my home town Dunchurch.
  19. As many small businesses are hurting badly during this time, people just won't keep still or stop with gatherings sadly. I somewhat understand why the full lockdown. My wife's parents in Burlington are pretty well out running errands every day it seems. We just shake our head. I live in a remote community in the green zone and our numbers have been good since the start, BUT the amount of cottagers from red and lockdown zones have been outrageous. They just are not coming up and staying to their own they are living life as usual up here. (Don't want to say everyone, because it's not), going to the restaurants, doing all their shopping, etc. Great for the local bussiness yes, but quite dangerous for the local population. Nothing wrong with curbside pickup, but some want to walk around instore and touch everything. I'm not saying don't travel for sledding, but what I am suggesting is to limit your interactions. Maybe take out when you stop for lunch, etc.... I know winter will be a bit of a challenge this year for many but please try to think of others in your sledding travels. I have heard some feedback from some of the local waitresses and they say that a good number of guests have been quite rude and snappy this year. Try to be nice, its been pretty hard for everyone, especially for the people who feed us. Merry Christmas everyone!
  20. This will be a handy map for many. The parts shops will be busy this year with all the stump and rock hits. Bring ur shovels
  21. We will see how many people really give a crap what they say. I for one will be out riding regardless what the F$%$ they say (lots of areas around here to ride, most of the spots i have been riding for 40 years, and my father another 10 years before that. Way before there were groomed trails). I fish and hunt for food, so they would not be able to stop that i am thinking. I do respect private land, but there are many who don't and this year will be the worst for our sport. Also looking at the fact that so many new people coming into the sport that overpaid on their sleds...I don't think it is going to be a good year for private property owners sadly. I hope i am wrong.
  22. I would have to agree with this one. You lend it to a friend you risk it. Insurance also may not pay out if an uninsured rider is running it it as well. Usually if I borrow something I am way more careful than I am if is my own. A few bucks would be a nice gesture.
  23. I have a Stealth 16' V aluminum, and all i can say it has been the worst trailer i have every owned, and i own about 8 trailers currently and many in the past. From the start there was some poor welding on the frame and some holes burnt through it, and i had to fix that before safety. second, all the spring shackle hangers were cold welded to the frame angle iron and one had let go on me in on route. i had to completely rebuild this part of the trailer (cut off and re weld on new heavier duty brackets.) in the first year i just about broke every spring on the damn thing, so i have up'd the weights on the springs. The whole trailer had to be rewired just after the first year as there were many loose dangling connections behind the plywood that was shorting out. There was much much more, but i would have to write too much....i would suggest doing a quick google search on Stealth trailers and read the google reviews. if i remember they also have a facebook aimed at stealths bad workmanship. and you will see many of the problems that i faced with this piece of Sh$t. I now have it in good running condition, but had to rebuild the whole dam thing. I bought it from Miska trailers, and they would not do a damn thing. only trailer i had bought from them and last.
  24. Stayed in the cabins last year for a night with a riding buddy from here. it was clean and warm and parking right in front of cabin. There were 4 beds (2 bunk beds) and lots of room for 2 people, would have been a bit crammed with 4 people and gear. I found the food alright, you can use the store washrooms when they are open for a warm toilet seat, or when they are closed there is a VERRY cold outhouse to use (i think they heat it sometimes). My wife would have never delt with the cold outhouse, but for us it was just fine. They were friendly and if i remember it was very inexpensive to stay here, and since we spent most of our time on the sleds we didn't need to spend an arm and a leg on sleeping.
