....  SHOT starter system ....

I have that on my 2014 Yamaha Viper. When it's minus 25, the starter is shot. :-(

Look forward to reading about the new Doo's.

Did you not get an update to the ECU? It doesn't cost anything

Yes, I did. It wasn't a great feeling in Gowganda last week in minus 25 and 'no start' (actually, all 3 Yamaha's didn't start). The sole Ski Doo in the group did start. Boy,  did we hear about that! Anyhow, it's 'fixed' ... until it isn't fixed. That's the feeling I have about the 2014 Yamaha Viper starter. Ski doo got it right.

To be clear, it was only the usual cold Yamaha 'no start' because it's too cold issue last week. All 3 Yami's started with a boost. However, when you've heard the 'starter' issue in the past, it's not a comfortable sound.

Anyhow, this is about SkiDoo and its new product line. "SHOT" starter is certainly innovative:

With the E-TEC SHOT starter, you pull start once in the morning, then push-button start the rest of the day. And it only weighs two pounds more than pull-start.

Oddly enough, Yamaha blue highlight :-P

Pull starting an 850 in minus 25 sounds like fun. Does seen like a neat idea though but adding more complication. Why not just go to a lightweight battery?

I'm too old for pull start. I really appreciate push start. Kind of fond of reverse and heated seat too. My temperature cut off is -25. Below that I don't need to ride that bad.
