SlowTouringGuy
Posted by Canuck in the "Manitoulin to Tobermory" thread: I was on the Chichimaun when the residual winds from a hurricane rolled up into Ontario. She rocked and heaved. So did many passengers. Tough ship. Wish more folks would get on 'er and see Ontario. It's a great trip north to Tobermory, over by ship to Manitoulin, then to Sault Ste Marie and a choice back on the highway through northern Michigan or highway south through Sudbury. They have family rates on the ferry, as I recall. Wouldn't it be great if the Chichimaun ran during the winter, too ! It could be part of a wonderful sled loop. By the way.................. The Saguenay River/Saguenay Fjord merges with the St. Lawrence River downstream from Quebec City. How does one cross the Saguenay River on a Snowmobile ??????????? yes..................this is she........................... It's pretty simple, really. Go really fast..........or.......................... YUP !! TAKE THE FERRY !!!!!!!!!!!

GrizzlyGriff
DOES THAT RUN JUST FOR SLEDS?? Don't see any cars or even a bare road...

Canuck, that was actually our exit from the ferry on the west side of the river...groomed trail right from the ramp. Unfortunately the approach down to the ferry on the east side involved a little more bare pavement and the trail approach wasn't quite as smooth, but we managed just fine. volunteer2
Pics brought back real good memories of our trip to that area. They put all the cars and trucks on first and shoe horned our sleds between the 18 wheelers. Was an absolute blast taking the ferry. The next stop was the Chateau Richelieu. They treat sledders real good.

They treat sledders real good. Lots of heavy trucks, including log trucks exited the ferry eastbound but our 9 sleds were alone with (I think) only two cars on the westbound journey. And........our next stop was also the Fairmont Manoir Richlieu. So good (with underground heated sled parking) we stayed for two nights. Delightful property. Lots of history. Spectacular trails. Great dining. Marvellous setting.
