  1. Yeah been bad no doubt. I use to think 6 weeks that we use to get was bad enough. Looks like things might open up next week. More snow next weekend should be enough for trails to go yellow.
  2. I say we recieved about 6” of snow. More in squalls today it looks like. Snowing steady now. You using a gas or a diesel tractor?
  3. Guess 850’s are only designed for 250 hours of use. Not much better then power techs in my opinion. 800 r was a good engine.
  4. That seems like an un fair arrangement. The bar area should be chipping in too, since you need food to sell liquor.
  5. Good luck bill. I am sure you will get lots of lake effect behind storm. Hopefully not too much at once.
  6. Sorry 02, you always seem to have bad luck with winter. I thought you retired and building that great cottage, home you talked about.
  7. I did same thing. Nice ride into tunnel lake. Hydro line was an amazing goat path type trail with steller views. Snow always better farther north compared to riding d trail near highway. I remember it being a long day too approx 200 km’s I believe.
  8. Nothing yet just west of Kitchener. Only looks like 10 cm’s when I play radar. Most of bands are 1 cm an hour, if colour sceme is right. milder again later in week, which will make a good base if we don’t loose it all again.
  9. You probably right. Then news will blast about how it was one heck of a storm for southern Ontario. Snow fall warning is still active at least, so has some potential and temperature is good for snow this time.
  10. Oh yeah I am pumped. Have bucket on telehandler and 72” snow blower on tractor. Let it snow this time. (Just check down graded to 15 cm’s already) wait and see!
  11. Not fun at all. Hard to plan any sort of trip with all of these trail closers poping up. Looks like touring maybe coming to an end and you will need to trailer from one broken area to another.
  12. Government has reduced amount they give back to snowmobiling though over past 5 years. I think use to be 3 and now 1.5 or so million. I think government will do squat about it. They didn’t even help manufacturing industry here, how can we count on them to save or improve snowmobiling in province.
  13. Must be squalls, I wonder how far north it extends. Zero just west of kitchener today. Nice sunny morning.
  14. At least you are getting snow. Say plus 3 for us in Kitchener on Saturday. So maybe you will get a dumping then. D5 not looking like it will open much this year.
  15. Thank-you crow. I hope to get more involved in future if system survives here in d5. The weather and all of this red tape bs is killing it, then you have trespassers as you know. It never ends it seems and I fear it soon will be all over if winters continue like this too.
  16. Wow those motors have been good. Hope still in warranty and they cover it. Wish him luck!
  17. Most sleds today can get good mileage on hard packed trails. I found 600 etec was slightly better on fuel then 900, ran in same conditions. It has something to do with free wheeling of two stroke. In southern Ontario mileage sucks no matter what you ride because of all idling and stop signs.
  18. Our insurance company agent arrived at time of renewal last year with a trunk full of no trespassing signs and fire extinguishers. He told me to put signs up near access points on property as well as around bush. Apparantly not trespassing unless it is clearly posted as such. It is possible for someone to go for a walk and hike across private property and end up in middle of snowmobile trail, without ever passing a sign too..
  19. This year I am at zero miles so far. I could be way worse then your 6 dollar a mile figure shortly. If no snow in next few years, I hate to think that game might be over in d5, d8. Defiantly not as fun without local snow and local riding buddies.
  20. Thank-you, it is defiantly more work then some people realize.
  21. I think novelty would wear off fast, if it was ever implemented. Way more fun riding a sled then traveling in a groomer at 8 km/hr.
  22. I know. I can’t even remember the last time I rode to st clements for wings on open trails. I know plc would know the answer but I think it has been four years, at lest feels like it.
  23. Going to take a miracle for the season to start in south west. Another year not much until feb again. Still hoping for a month of riding in south. Put a big spoon under your pillow and a box of white crayons in freezer.
  24. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/485057312408209/ That is a super reliable long track grand touring with bullet proof 580 cc motor. A little on old side but they were reliable but not best suspension for trail riding today. Be ok for your lake access though. They are a fairly rare find. Good luck!
  25. A long track is ideal for towing and carrying stuff into a cottage. Handle slush better and less likely to get stuck near cottage as well. Polaris makes lots of reliable snowmobiles, so does skidoo and articat. If you don’t have power at cottage or generator, maybe better off with a 2 stroke, since you can start them with a recoil unlike four strokes. Fan sleds are good for riding lakes with less snow cover, since use air to cool engine, not snow like liquids. Show a picture of what you get, thanks. Safe travels
