  1. So I decided to take the old axles off and repaint them while waiting on brake parts. Aluminum frame held up really well over last 18 years. Nothing to stop me from driving another 18 years. Took the axle off, 4 coats of tremclad, and looks brand new. I'm waiting for some SS bolts to come in to reinstall, then take 2nd axle off, wire brush and paint. Then wheel bearings and reinstall. Going to do wheel bearings on first axle once brake parts arrive. Old bolts really held up for being 18 years old
  2. Last year I put on over 1000km from my driveway in Monkton
  3. Yes, My trailer is Dexter axles. Use a half tube per axle, and away we go. Grease zerk is in the middle of the shaft.
  4. The frame rails aren't showing any wear, or "bubbling" around where the axle is mounted. There is a rubber gasket between the axle and frame. The aluminum isnt pitted or anything near there. But yes, a good idea to mark the frame rails before loosening should I decide to go that way. Thanks, I never would have thought of that. Im leaning to just repairing what I have. I know that they have worked well, untouched for 5 or 6 winters.
  5. Is yours electric or hydraulic? Mine are hydraulic, I think that's why the higher cost
  6. Ive owned the trailer for 6 years. First time touching them. They are more money, but havent had any issues yet.
  7. I've got two sets of new bearings in the shed as PM also right now. Have to add that to the cost of the option 1 $75/set from triton, with all new hardware and grease etc... If i dont need them, I will return them, just want to have them here if needed when tearing the hubs apart.
  8. I have a 2002 14 ft 3 sled open Triton trailer. Decided to do some PM on it today, and ended up being a good thing. Both brake calipers are seized. Now comes the situation. Tandem axle trailer, with brakes on first axle. Calipers are $290, need new rotors. Upgraded ones, $210, and hoses $50, for a total of $550/side, or $1100. ETA is a few weeks, not a big deal other than having it torn apart in my shed for that long Option 2 is change out the axles. Same axle with electric brakes. Something available at every trailer supply/repair place. Cost is a bit more, as I have to change 2 axles, and need bigger tires/ rims. Looks to be about $1750 or so by time I'm done. It would give me 2 new axles for 15+ more years of use. Rest of trailer is in excellent shape, and can easily last many more years. Whats everyone's thoughts.
  9. I bet that would work on OFSC trails as well. Fri, Sat, Sun afternoons Head towards a warm up shack and wait.
  10. Having the dollars that the Sparling family has definitely doesn't hurt either

  12. Two sleds and a trailer, trafficking under $5000. Hard to be under that value even if old beater equipment
  13. Well said. Late last week I contemplated heading up to Cochrane with one of my boys who was home from school due to it being closed, but decided it safer if we didnt for the same reasons you mention above.
  14. Just asking so people know. Is that the restaurant and gas bar, or is gas still available?
  15. Thanks to all who came out. About 700 lbs of wings cooked up. Total for all 3 wing nights is about 1800 lbs. Sleds came and went all afternoon, good way t finish the season in the South.
  16. If this doesn't look like the perfect forecast to hop on a sled tomorrow and get some wings, I don't know what does. Serving from 3-8 at the PERC in Milverton
  17. Between moving to Sunday afternoon, the trails open for the first time in a few years, and the Milverton 4 wheel Drives SR A have a hockey game Sunday afternoon we hope to sell out of 900 lbs of wings. One last weekend of riding in D9 before next weeks warm up. If you stop in, head around the back, ill be cooking wings all afternoon, and say hi.
  18. No. The decision was made to postpone until Sun Afternoon from 3-8, or till we run out of wings. Right now, I can t see the end of my laneway, and not expected to get better till the overnight. Trails should be open if Mother Nature Cooperates, so come for one last local run before the mild temps come next week. Complex is accessible by trail.
  19. Its the final week of Feb, meaning the final wing night of the season is this Fri at the PERC in Milverton. 5-9 pm. The same as last time, insurance prohibits us from having a bar. If ordering takeout, and you think of it, please bring along a reusable container. Be sure to check the IATG, as with the cold weather making a comeback we will have trails open if possible. See you then
  20. Yes he did. A groomer operator, and former d9 volunteer of the year. I think though, with trails open further south and east, it wasnt necessary.
  21. Originally said that it was warming up. Looks like a season extending forecast for sure. 1st time in a number of years that MIlverton has been open for 7 consecutive days, with more to come.
  22. On Friday Feb 14 the Atwood Community Centre will not be available for parking. Please share this to anyone who may be interested in parking there. There is a funeral visitation there. Please respect this request, as the community centre generally welcomes sledders to park there.
  23. Hats off to the volunteers, and the real Heroes, the groomer operators for getting the white ribbon trails in as good as shape as they are today with the little they have to work with. The parking lot in Atwood was a little full this afternoon But the trails are in good shape. Only the 2nd time in three years that I have had 3 sleds that we could go out with the whole family and have a ride.
  24. That should be 70 kms LOL, not 7
  25. Karen was travelling today, and couldnt change things til she got to her destination. She sure was busy for a few minutes though by the look of the trail map.
