  1. I like Cedar Meadows in Timmins. Lots of parking and a nice restaurant on site.
  2. I just bought one and put the Year, Make and Model of sled that it is going on but put 0s across in the VIN and Registration #.
  3. Using the ITG, it is 260kms from Chapleau to Wawa staying on the trail. You will need a full Linq can to do that route. I dont know any sleds other than 900ACE NA that can get that range?
  4. KLIM is very sticky about their MAP policies on CURRENT year clothing as well. Once its a year old, all bets are off though.
  5. HH is too unreliable to count on and the District is just trying to plan ahead under the assumption that it will be closed. I would not suggest planning a trip up there this year based on HH being open. I was there the day it closed last season. Our trip would have been completely screwed if we were a day later.
  6. The recall wouldnt stop me from riding my sled thats for sure.
  7. Its back on market for $699 Sold May/22 for $425.
  8. I think it is a combo of lack of non current stock that needs to be blown out, uptick in online sales and the cost of the booth. I used to be in the motorcycle business and a 20x40 booth at the Toronto Show cost $20K 10 years ago. I bet it cost Royal $250K to do that show. I am sure it just came down to math. Not enough return for the cost/effort. By the sounds of it, their tent sale a few weeks ago cleared out just about all their non current product and they didnt have to move anything back/forth from Toronto.
  9. I know how the currency fluctations can effect things and I do feel sorry for the dealer as he is just a young guy trying to scratch out a living. What sucks for me is that I could have bought the same trailer for the same price at a dealer up north a month ago but I wanted to keep the money local. I am meeting with the dealer Monday after lunch and I told him we would sort it out.
  10. I got 7 letters in the mail a couple of weeks ago.
  11. OK. Moral dilemma here. I put down a deposit on a TC167 back in August. I have a bill of sale with the price and options on it. They call me today and say due to the US exchange rate, they now want $600 MORE for the trailer. I remind the gal that I have a $1500 deposit down and a bill of sale clearly stating the price and trailer details. I dont want to see the young owner lose money on this but I ask him if the exchange rate went the other way and the trailer all of a sudden cost him $600 LESS would he have lowered the price? Silence on the phone..... Am I being a dick for holding firm on the numbers on the contract?
  12. When I did the Gaspe tour we got stopped 7 times. I had a full season pass and led most of the trip. 5 out of the 7 times we came to a Police check, I was waved through and the rest of the group was stopped and ALL documents were checked.
  13. I ordered an OFSC gift card. I am on the fence about a Quebec permit. I will be a last minute buyer of one if it looks like I will even get close to breaking even on it. I hate the temp passes from Quebec. I find that I just get waved through Police checks with the full season sticker on my sled but always have to pull over and go through the motions when I have a temp pass on my machine.
  14. We used Val D'or airport once to pick up a buddy who couldnt get out of a work thing. We drove up and sledded for a day. He flew up and joined in on the trip.
  15. You can fly to Timmins from Toronto Island every day. My buddy bought a new C8 from the Chevy Dealer in Timmins and flew up there to pick it up and drive it home. It was around $150 to fly 1 way and he was there in 90 mins. I have a client who has his own plane and has a cabin outside of Timmins. He flies up every weekend to sled.
  16. Gas was $3.25 at HH when we were there and I didnt feel like I was being raped considering gas at the pumps was $2.00-$2.10 everywhere else that weekend. The 6 bucks/litre at Basecamp pissed me off though.
  17. One thing that is hurting places like HH and Base Camp is that sleds are getting better and better on fuel than they did 20 years ago and with the popularity of Linq style cans a lot of guys can make these loops without getting fuel or if they need to stop, buying very little fuel. I remember back even in the early 2000s, all you could safely get is 100 miles out of a tank of fuel. Even Cochrane to Kap required a splash of fuel in SRF. Now, 120miles/200kms is very easy to do with a modern sled. With guys not needing fuel at all or just needing 10 litres to complete the loop it is making it really hard for these outposts to justify staying open. The last time I was at HH, which was the day it closed for the season last year, I topped up my sled even though I know I could have gotten away with 10 litres. That being said, I used my Linq can to finish the Abitibi Canyon loop the same weekend when the guy told me $60 for 10L of fuel.
  18. I got a KLIMATE jacket for $234 as well.
  19. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10229100965694779&set=pcb.1191874531393394
  20. There is a brand new 22 mach z posted on the Skidoo Owners FB page for $25 and it has quite a few accessories added to it.
  21. Staffing seemed to be one of their issues last season. Maybe they only need a couple of guys there if they are sellling gas. Maybe they see the lucrative market in boiled hot dogs that the Base Camp serves and are pivoting their business model to emulate BC.
  22. If I was going to put up with the weight of a big turbo I would probably look at a Yamacat just because they can be made so much faster with very little effort/money.
  23. Top end was a huge disappointment and I could really feel the weight. I really wanted to like it but could never see myself owning one after spending an hour on it. 2 buddies of mine bought 900 XRS' last year and both are going back to 850s for 23.
  24. My buddy has a 22 900R, (not a Z) and its a dog. I was very disappointed in it.
  25. Cat has always said that the new chassis is 2 stroke only. That being said, I bet they bring out a wide body version for the 998 Turbo eventually.
