  1. I am so happy that O2sled, stoney and Sledguy74 put it down the way they did. Maybe some of these keyboard professionals will understand the way it has been explained. I have been trying to explain the rules for years and some had never got it. When the rules changed there was a huge meeting where us tradesmen got to discuss the rules and qualify any questions. It appears that some still think they know more than the tradesmen at that meeting.
  2. Snow accumulation causing hydroplaning and lack of vision created a bunch of headaches. Snow tires not on yet didn’t help either. That is one of my jobs this week.
  3. Just got off 400. Bad between Port Severn and Parry Sound. Two major crashes in the median.
  4. If you get hit with a bucket of $h!t, be sure to close your eyes!!!
  5. Thank you for your appreciation Poo Man. It was others whom I was referring to.
  6. No problem. Just trying to be helpful. Apparently some on here are self proclaimed professionals and don’t want to listen. I am glad that a professional marine tradesman like yourself has backed up my statement. I am just a lowly Automotive Diagnostic Technician so apparently what I say means nothing.
  7. If you have an engine coolant heated water heater, I wouldn’t pull out the thermostat. You need the stat to block enough flow to force the antifreeze through the heater hoses. Just run it until all the hoses are hot and you have steam in the barrel making sure you are capturing all the engine released antifreeze.
  8. Run it until the heat guage is higher than normal and if the antifreeze in the barrel is steaming and the antifreeze exiting all ports of the engine is hot, the stat has opened. There are a number of 4.3l engines and others that you have to run them to get antifreeze into the belly of the intake manifold. Flushing won’t push the water out from there unless you are using a strong power flushing unit. If you end up with a cracked intake manifold in the spring, you know what happened.
  9. The flaw lies where you are misinterpreting what you read. I put antifreeze in the barrel. Not premix. If the antifreeze tests better than -20f then the mixture will only turn to slush, and will not do any damage. Concentrate antifreeze requires water to be mixed with it at 50/50 to achieve -35f freeze protection.
  10. I have a plastic barrel with the side cut out of it. I put a bulge pump hooked to a hose with a garden hose end on it attached to the ear muffs. Run engine until the antifreeze in the barrel gets hot.
  11. Happy Belated Birthday Nunz!!! I hope it was a good one!!
  12. Owners can do as they like with the bolts but in the trade, we are not allowed to use anything less than grade 5 Hardware. If there is ever an accident and the MTO investigates, there could be a very ugly lawsuit. I would recommend grade 8 cadmium washed Hardware for that job but Y’all can do what you want.
  13. Now what did I put myself in the middle of? I guess the cheque is in the mail. Either that or Ox intercepted it! Lol
  14. I suppose the general consensus from the last series of posts is that ski is too dam honest. A friend said it is far better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Hard thing to do for most of us. Sometimes it was years later that I found out my wife brought something back from the states that I didn’t know about. She says she couldn’t trust me at the border because I can’t lie.
  15. There must be some way you and your wife can get here and back. In both the Orillia and Parry Sound areas, we are seeing vehicles from Michigan, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania and New York. Lots of them on the 400 too.
  16. You are welcome Canuck but the credit goes to the wife. She remembered something about it happening so she researched it.
  17. Lock 28 and 29 were changed from flight locks to a lift lock so 29 is no longer. They made the lift lock height equal the height of the two flight locks. Wife found that on trentsevern.ca .
  18. They were trying to decide what to do upstream from lock 45. They could put in lock 44 or build the marine railway. They decided on the railway instead of a lock. Most still call it 44.
  19. Don’t know the exact measurements but the Peterborough lift lock is much taller than the Kirkfield liftlock.
  20. It was a lot more fun on a bike in the 60’s. It is a straight super highway now compared to what it used to be.
  21. My friend in North Bay says she had no hydro this morning. Freezing rain was blamed. Snowing and windy in downtown Carling now. Wife says there is a crosswind off the bay in excess of 25 mph and snowing. She is on the 400 south of Mactier.
  22. Glad you made it that far ok revrnd. They are calling for blizzard warnings along the 400 from Barrie to Sudbury at least.
