  1. At least you got one. I know dealers that have over 50 on order, eta's were given...and those dates have long since past. Customers not so happy... The main parts (pumps, packs, jets etc) from the biggest manufacturers go to the hot tub assemblers (that's pretty much what they are). I've had repair parts, with a direct link to the parts manufacturers, on back order for most of the year. My partner/wife is really good. She has so far kept us with critical parts. Where we used to stock one or two, 'cause they were next day parts before covid, we now stock 6, grab them when we find them.
  2. Sum bitch!! Putting a positive spin on things! I thought the toy market would collapse this year, yet Truedope rained money down from the palace balcony and the pleebs bought all the toys. My industry has seen a massive boom. Can't buy a new hot tub until at least the end of 2021. I've had my parts supply chain go for a massive dump in the last few months.
  3. Problem with that is once the system is gone, it will never come back.
  4. Does this mean grooming and trail prep can continue, for the end of lockdown in mid Feb?
  5. Might as well ask the question....not that I want my money back. I understand how the money gets spent, and what would happen if it's not there. What does this mean for the $50 back, pre buy guarantee for the trails?
  6. I can see this happening to us in Grey/Bruce. Too close to the covid hot spots, if Parry Sound, closes...being at least twice the drive that we are
  7. Damn, Sets a precedent. Travel outside your PHU and all that jazz. Wonder if this will snowball and we will get the same, as Grey/Bruce is a 1-2 hr drive from the covid hot spots. I would not be surprised if that happens.
  8. I do think they are trying to follow the spirt of what the province wants/needs but doesn't want to go whole hog on enforcement and punishment. Stay home really means don't travel outside your PHU. I live in the Grey Bruce PHU and have curtailed my travels so I don't go outside the region. Heading to Haliburton forest was brought up in my snowmobiling group before the emergency declaration. That is now off the table. Good on them for putting health before profit, and I've been there a few times, both summer and winter. I'll go again when this S storm is over.
  9. I saw some pics from our crew. Fence torn down, sleds going through. Volunteers went that night and put up new fencing and bracing. We (sleddder money) put up those gates to try to control ATV's This land owner has been with us for 30 plus years. A few years ago we decided to move the trail, still on his land, to get out of some water problems, make it more reliable. His reply, yep whatever you need to do, just leave me the trees you have to cut so I can sell it as firewood. Land owners like this are the back bone of our Southern trails. There is an app, for years lol, real time on what is open. Gone are the old days when you just saw the groomer went through and it's open. Stay the F off of closed trails. The goodwill between our club and our land owners has a limit!
  10. lol...driving your truck and trailer with snowmobiles in it, for 100 or so KMS can hardly be seen as exercise....
  11. Got an air bnb booked for Lake Wanapitei for 12Feb21....not sure that's gonna work out
  12. LOL, yep. We need cold and more snow before a shut down really has any meaning.
  13. I'd love to see a run down of the permit buyers based on postal code. Postal code to a permit would give a fairly accurate look at how many permit holders have to trailer ( ignore the "stay at home"). If those numbers are as high as I think they'd be, staying open would be encouraging people to travel to use snowmobile trails. I give it 2/1 odds that things go full stop. $20 on that anyone? If I lose you get $30 and we stay open for the double win!!
  14. It will be interesting to see. It appears snowmobile trails are not affected, however with the stay at home order the OFSC may have little choice but to do the hard stop like in March. I assign no blame on the OFSC if things get shut down.
  15. Holy crap... Nobody tell the gubernment how many people die and get hurt sledding!

People who don't use computers would not have a permit. The app is free, most everyone has a smart phone. I've seen more tracks go around a "Trail Closed" sign than I can count. There is no excuse. My club's experience is that only a closed gate works....and even that, a$$hats try and sometimes do find a way around it. We are our on worst enemy.
  17. Shades of the GRCA and Lake Belwood. This is going on two years now.
  18. Was out earlier in the week packing, no drag. Although we have had a bunch of snow, we have had plenty of rain and very little cold. Wet spots are not going to be fixed by packing or grooming...its still running water. Ran across 6 sleds on closed trails, 3 without permits. Had one guy try to turn around 'cause he wasn't getting past the blade and no way I could move over. Current 800 Poo 144 800. He buried his belt into the driven and wasn't able to move. He thought his clutch was fooked,, obvious noob lol. Seeing no option, I got him to apply the throttle while I lifted the back end up so he could spin the track and reset the belt on the clutches. I received a fully soaked set of pants and boots, knew that's gonna happen... but he got to carry on, back from where he came from. He was one of 3 that had a permit...but still he's riding on closed trails. How much of a verbal lashing should I do at that point, cause that's the only tool we have. The OPP does not have the spare officers (money the province didn't have before and certainly does not have now). Bring back the STOP program. I'd be in for that. I've already been vetted, sworn and trained for military service. Shouldn't be a big deal to get people like me up to speed on the trespass to property act, and our ability to enforce it. That's all we need. No force, just the ability to write tickets, using vast amounts of discretion. I'm a very reasonable guy. Been that kid that knew he was doing wrong, but still did it...didn't expect the hammer to come down. If someone gets all uppity or belligerent, they leave while we document the interaction, from that the accused gets their day in court. Some will say that this can only be done with armed, law enforcement like the OPP. I disagree. Sometimes the pen, and the discussion is mightier than the sword. Talk to your MPP.
  19. X2 I remember my choices at 24 years old. I have no room to judge either. Thankfully snowmobiles of that vintage were not of the speed and power they are today, or I'd maybe not be here

  22. That is what really bothers me. We have installed gates in many spots on our trail system. Usually to keep out ATV's and trucks. Sometimes to keep sleds out. The gates get opened as the trail is ready. the farmers crops won't be hurt. IMO, pulling out the bolt cutters, getting the wrenches out to disconnect the gate, or cut the fence is on par with break and enter. I've seen it many times. It really hinders grooming operations. As we decide what gets groomed before opening, we now have to decide what disrespectful sledders may do. It puts all of us at a disadvantage. We don't pack and/or groom sections that ass hats might F us over.
  23. I bought this because I got tired of getting stuck. It's an ex DND machine. 24X156. Motor was blown. Rebuilt it and added some studs...like 150 of them. The DND would not stud the track...can't modify...dumb rules. She ain't fast, she ain't nimble, but you gotta be some extreme type of stupid to get her stuck. That would be what many would be looking for, an off trail survival experience.
  24. LOL, yep I'm wrong again...Seems it'll be a bit more of a challenge. Locals will still sled down from Moosonee to Otter rapids on the " not in Ice road". I have lots of experience with natives, and inuit. They are hard as F#ck in cold, snowy climates. It just won't be as pleasant as if a dozer built the road. Add a few hours.
  25. Been there many times. Moosonee is not part of the reserve, that's Moose Factory. Did a painful exercise with a hundred or so noob's, two up, towing 500 lbs of gear from Cochrane to Moosonee. That took two days of freezing frigery. Another exercise we loaded trucks, trailers, sleds and all the food, tents, gear etc for half a battalion on the train. The train ride is pretty cool. Most flew in, I got to fly out back to Orillia. Done Cochrane to the Canyon in around 3 hours, from there to Moosonee shouldn't be more than a few more hours on fast sleds. Cochrane to Moosonee would be an easy day for experienced riders. I can't see them not putting in the ice road. It's a life line for supplies and travel....but I've been wrong before... The peeps that live North of the Moose don't need licences, insurance etc...until they get to town. Vehicles get parked at that line, and they get a ride into town lol
