  1. Did you mean " talked into "? Never mind. It's Polaris. You meant to say ' tricked into '
  2. We saw a wolf at sunset , in Sudbury, a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't in a hurry to get off the trail. Moved aside and sized us up. We completed the Wolf loop and Moose loop. Saw both animals ( pair of moose ). No cougars ๐Ÿ˜ As for far north sledding, needs to exist. Trails need to stay open.,If it was an ofsc survey question vis-a-vis staying in the sport - it " matters". Extends the season, if nothing else. Thanks for terrain and logistic answers, group.
  3. Good thread. Thanks. I once pulled up to a groomer as I was leaving cottage by car - he stopped, I handed him a bottle of wine _corked ...consume at home :) and thanked him. Great guy.
  4. Glad to assist, Re:Leaf. All I did was grab a jerry can and top you up - very close to the Haven Hope HH reopens.
  5. Neat article from Stokely Cross country lodge and trails received by email this morning - Most every evening in the Goulais River area there are snow squall warnings. And every morning all three groomers are out again refreshing the 100 km of Stokely ski trails. So if you are looking for snow and great skiing Stokely is the place. Our groomers are telling us that there are easily 6 feet of snow on the ground. Yesterday two skiers stepped off the trail to let the groomer go by and they were buried in snow only to be rescued by the groomer. The ski resort extended their season due to all the snow.
  6. Thanks for the information. What are the other Timmins snowmobile choices? And how would riders rate them? ( For example- group of guys, staging from Timmins ). We've always stayed at Super 8. Casey's next door for dinner. It's been a few years. Seems like many new chain hotels.
  7. Good points re: Elliot Lake. Wonder what those loops you mention are like.

Great glove warmer. X2 on that. Thx for helmet advice.
  9. Always been a fan of Cindy's. Daily special is usually good. Can't go wrong with the burger. Nice that there appears to be an alternative.
  10. And now, back to the weather ๐Ÿคจ....... Snow every day ( a bit ) for next 10 days after this warm spell.

Sorry to hear. I never bought the electric shield. 7 years of riding ( no eyeglasses ) - never needed it. .
  12. We didn't get west of Windy River. There was a week old comment in another thread ... We ran into the same around espanola last week. Simply not enough coverage for the groomers to work. They certainly were trying their best with what they had. Mother nature is a b. A few riders peeled off at Fairbanks Lake to head west to Espanola on Feb 11th. Hopefully Espanola local knowledge can pipe in.
  13. That's our March plan. Day trips from New Liskeard. Enjoy.
  14. Having completed a few days in the area, I agree with Sevey. Capreol (north) is the cutoff for great sledding. You can do both loops, but the further north you get, the more enjoyable it is.
  15. The moose in that pic were 40 yards away before we brought out 'cameras'. They were huge. When he stepped in front of me I thought it was 'lights out'. I last saw one in Halfway Haven years ago. Dropped the antlers (shed?) on trail, but the group in front picked them up. Same yoot was travelling with me, then, as well.
  16. Halloween would have been too early? ๐Ÿ˜Š (says the Arctic Cat rider grounded by icy trails - rain yesterday, -24 today, Sudbury. Used to wait until 10 am for Yami in these conditions, now seems like 11 am for Cat. SkiDoo's left at 10:30 am).
  17. There seem to be a lot of RAM trucks advertised and available. Rumour has it that sold in Canada trucks from GM and Ford are being shipped south ($ exchange) and warranty is valid. Chrysler voids the warranty (or at least doesn't honour it down south). Hence, no Chrysler trucks southbound and more left in Canada. Who knows. But I've been wondering about all the 'discount' ads on Hockey Night in Canada for RAM trucks in times of presumably low inventory and this was mentioned as an explanation.
  18. Currently in Subbury at Moonlight Inn and Suites. $130 / night kitchenette apt. - one bed in front, one separate bedroom at back. Ran Cartier " Moose' loop with buddy Tues., waiting for sons to arrive. ' Wolf' Wednesday when the yoots arrived and ' Moose' clockwise Friday ( same loop, different direction ). Tried to go south, but the trail south ( D111 ) towards OPP station was rough on the way back, Day 1 . It's tough grooming at any time in there. Can't say what the rest of the way to Manitoulin holds - had this feeling snow was lighter south of Sudbury ( Ran D 108 and D 109 , SNIRT, on Tues ) It's tricky connecting from this hotel to trails since feeder trail ends at falconcridge road ... and then it's 10 minutes of roads. I prefer trailering to STP yard in Garson. Start there daily. Sudbury is our ' go to ' intermediate drive destination. Groomers out daily, on different sections. A moose did jump in front of me. Scary. Here's a pic of them in the bushes. Really enjoy the varying elevations around Sudbury.
  19. Thanks for the updates. Much appreciated.
  20. I saw a yoot today in our area ( Baxter Trail Riders ). Current skidoo, pipes, no ownership sticker or licence plate that I could see, no trail permit. Wondered - how, why? On Top C trail. Sad. Actually seeing more, and more of this.
  21. Thanks, TD. Maybe folks can trade in their 2022 contract for a 2023? (Kidding, I get it. Supply chain. possible demand for the product. Nope, going with supply chain ๐Ÿ™ƒ )
  22. The issue with the Yamaha's (from my 'Attak' to the last one, 'Viper") - don't start it up and then shut it off. Start it and go. Buddy used to start his sled every a.m., to see if there were issues. Inevitably, on restart - no go. I'd bypass that drama and just start it. Until both Vipers didn't start. Then, goodbye Yamaha for me. Not a gearhead, went over to two '21 Arctic Cat ZR8000's, two strokes, way easier starting. Not even a trickle of doubt at start-up. (mention this because.."you left Yamaha for Arctic Cat....'aren't they the same beast'?). Totally different cold weather starts.
  23. I found this exchange helpful for future buying decisions. BRP is going the extra mile for a $1000. Brutal. As my avatar says .... ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‡
