  1. It seems like we are a month behind "normal" years...the month of November was generally a write off for any kind of outdoor activity ...this year there was two weeks of warm weather and the useless weather started up in December. No real snow I can see forecast anywhere in the immediate future, but holding out hope for January.
  2. Yes, got $40 and change back from both passes bought October and November - lowers the price to $300.00 which is about a wash to two 7 day passes (or 1 three days and 7 day however you want to figure it out) I used the link to the online insurance refund form immediately after purchasing the passes on line - cheque arrived practically the same day as the sled pass in the mail. I keep reading about that admin fee(?) but have not idea what it is - I just use the online refund thing (below) and other than being confused as to what transaction number to use on the printable copy, I have had no trouble in 3 years. Congrats on the new camp...was looking around LaTuque myself.....nothing yet.
  3. Fumes escape while filling and migrate into closed areas in the vehicle and possibly ignited by electrical spark or other means which is why they should be out of the vehicle to be filled. A cigar smoking guy lit one up doing this in Ft. Rae, NWT, which is why I remember the reason so well.
  4. Maybe revrnd can get on this....looks like fairly simple aluminum assembly.
  5. I could see where they would also be useful as a funnel for topping up fluids....the oil input on 600ace and 900ace skidoos in particular. WOW - just noticed they are on sale too!
  6. My intent was not to hurt your feelings.....just be careful you don't inflict more pain on yourself.
  7. Can she put up a youtube video? Sounds like a skill a few of our spouses should adapt given the times. My plan to create a detachable toilet seat to the truck running board used with front and rear doors open to provide a screen did not meet with much enthusiasm.
  8. Those injuries are painful and hard to heal. Be a bastard for you if you got repetitive stress syndrome on your hands and wrists from too much keyboarding on the internet.....better be careful!
  9. Same trailer as Blake - A 137" forward, 129" back... 5 liter gas engine 6 speed auto 3.31 axle: Varied terrain - 5.9 kms / liter - Amos to just north of North Bay via highway 11.
  10. Good source for web cams as well, which I don't see on your pictures above. Have to add it at the bottom I think. Shows 24 hours and snow on the ground at various locations.
  11. While following this up, found the spec sheet that details 'S' from 'C': songchuan relay_303-1203846.pdf The 'S' version seems to be harder to source. I've got spares already...no problems so far, but you never know given the crazy weather conditions.
  12. Where were you last year?? Nice offer! Noticed you are paying shipping, although this is .com not .ca I am finding the monthly fee for Amazon plus a very good bargain (or whatever they call it) as I have saved lots on shipping charges and provides access to Amazon prime video. For cable or internet challenged folks in the woods, Amazon prime is the only (I think) that allows download of movies, tv shows, documentaries that they offer in addition to streaming. You can set the data rate so that a whole series of shows i.e. "The Boys" can be downloaded for less than a gigabyte of data. Some of Amazon original movies are quite good as well. You can also rent movies, sometimes on sale for $2.99 or so, which are downloadable for playback later up to 30 days. Currently I am using an Android tablet here at the camp on which I download on cell phone data connection and ms. slomo in the south has another on which she can stream video as high speed internet is available. The tablet has an hdmi outlet to plug into a regular sized tv.
  13. But....Turbo Doo! ...what about the hedgehogs!!! ARTICLE: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/public-health-notices/2020/outbreak-salmonella-infections-pet-hedgehogs.html
  14. My freekin township workers must be hungry for over time - they plowed the road to the back road down to asphalt just as conditions such as Blake was experiencing were getting good. I don't know why I pay taxes for such odious treatment. And the mayor is a sledder too!
  15. Consider carrying a 12 ounce can of this stuff: https://www.microban24.com/products/sanitizing-spray-citrus/ You've probably seen the commercials. My nurse practitioner's family doctors' practice uses it in examination rooms after every appointment. (each no longer than 20 minutes btw) You should be able to fit it in a trail bag or coat pocket.

    BRP Go

You got ripped off! Only $2.99 ! Now that's for an android.... The Quebec app certainly sets the standard for what all the other provincial maps should be.
  17. With age, one gets forgetful - answered this for you around two years ago! With age, one gets lazy....concur with your assessment. efficient maybe a better descriptor
  18. Yes....here is a link: https://www.snowtracker.com/index.php/en/products/wheeltracker-en Beaucoup d' argent.
  19. I installed RollerSkis on my 2016 buzzard with the ts pilot skis. In comparison to Rouskis which I have installed on my renegade, I would prefer the Rouskis for the ease of putting them down and in place. However, Rouskis, who I now think are owned by Kimpex, were very slow to put a model for pilot ts skis on the market (not sure if they are out yet to be honest) so I went with Rollerskis. I made up a little jig about a foot long with 5/8 inch holes on either end out of a used slider to pressure down the wheel while holding the ski tip up, as I find the method of using your foot to push down the wheels not very serviceable. (if you have a prominent lower stomach, this could get in the way) The tool works great. This being said, no complaints about how the engaged wheels work - probably a bit better than the Rouskis. Please find attached the installation instructions - there is also a very good video (in French only) for which I will try to find the link. rollerski installation -b-2006-rev-a.PDF The one thing I would watch out for is make sure your carbides are re-installed in the correct direction - a little slant is evident toward the front. In all the excitement, one might forget. And have to take everything apart again. Here's the video: About 14 minutes long. Good description. There are other shorter ones, but this video is the most comprehensive.
  20. I think both grover and I were "just kidding" Happy Farmer. No reason to speculate or blame anyone without some sort of proof. Could have been a chicken farmer looking to replace his barn floors....
  21. If I am thinking the same guy ....he was re-elected in the last round of municipal elections - Seguin township.
  22. With spruce 2X4X8's retailing at $8 plus each, I would be checking kijiji and other on line sales forums to see if someone has put the lumber up for sale. Thousand dollars asking price for two thousand worth of lumber would make the effort worthwhile for thieves. Maybe one of those "traveller" groups....drop by your house with some wood ..."we had leftover lumber from our last job...interested?"
  23. Yep - for a few weeks in spring and fall, no travel unless the ferry could safely run. Apparently one went downstream one year with a load of vehicles and didn't get back for several weeks. In the winter, they would cut a trench in the ice for the ferry for as long as they could, while they flooded the stretch that would become the ice crossing. The ice road/ferry arrangement ended several year's ago with the Deh Cho Bridge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deh_Cho_Bridge Another ice road with which I was familiar was the stretch from Inuvik to Tuktoyuktuk. It is no longer available as an all season road was constructed, so was kind of lucky to get on it when I did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuvik–Tuktoyaktuk_Highway Northwest Territories - Orientation - the red lines are winter roads either over land or on ice. Several ferry / ice road crossings still exist on the system. Looks like there are a couple of highways in Alaska that might be fun to drive a drive upon at some time in the future.
  24. There are those that would argue that it is an essential visit... Read somewhere of people chartering a helicopter to fly to Buffalo and airlining it from there. Car shipped in transport truck. Brought back memories of getting south from the NWT before the bridge over the MacKenzie River at Ft. Providence was built. Ice wasn't out yet and cost $300 (1990's dollars) to get car lifted over by helicopter -well worth every cent.
