Cochrane still beckons....

Recommended Posts

Tentatively planning to drive to Cochrane tomorrow - Tuesday April 12 - with another Gravenhurst original, Moose Laker.

If anyone else is planning to do the same, let me know.

Hoping to sled a bit upon arrival tomorrow, take a longer run on Wednesday, then have a quick ride before departing Thursday. Subject to changes of course.

I've heard rumours of other OC'ers heading up on the weekend, so let's hope the trails stand up during the upcoming warm sunny days.

A couple of questions:

Does anyone know a way to ride through Timmins with the existing small sections of red trails?

Is there any gas on the A south of Cochrane around Iroquois Falls or over toward Timmins?

Hey Blake

I wish we could go, I sold a couple of jobs. I hate when works interfere s with my sledding.

Enjoy!

Don't get a sunburn.

And gave a great time, if you pull it off.

Just got in from Mars bars at the Ice Hut.

Certain trails have closed in the past few days, but there is more snow in Cochrane, and on the trails viewable from Highway 11, than there was during March Break or at the first of April.

There will be some great riding tomorrow in the sun.

Only one other sled trailer at the Westway tonight.

Excellent trails today. Will deteriorate over next few days. Here's a before and after from Westway. 9 a.m. vs 5 p.m.

For anyone interested, here's a video showing trail conditions from this morning. Only two other sledders at Westway.

This video shows our ride from Westway out the A trail to A103. We went as far as the ferry and got a tour from Operator Butch. After that we took the Genier Loop, A south toward Iroquois Falls, and a few other areas. Trail were uniformly excellent. Moose Laker and I put on a total of 233 kilometres. We saw only two other sledders in our travels.

I guess there'll be no more sledding for me, until the gales of November come early.

That's incredible!

From the pictures, looks like a few sleds traversed that route.

How many others did you see?

Looks like D'ville, Cochrane and Kirkland Lake are all that's open.

Season's ending soon.

Will open the video later. Thx again for keeping winter in our minds.

Edit: Viewed the video. What can I say. Bravo!
