  1. So sorry for the landowner. Respect the law and dont trespass. Funny isn't it how the coppers are out in full force harassing sledders on our OWN TRAILS yet none are set up catching these blatant trespassers on ATV's? Nice job there
  2. Hes probably too busy innovating to look back. Him, the Boivins, and Holtzman are another set of brilliant innovators
  3. Cheapest easiest fastest solution and almost certainly what will happen is a negotiated settlement and roylaty use moving forward or redesign away from the patent. Sucks to see this, but its a good sign that the courts are standing up for the law. As for Kirk Hibbert, does he hold a patent? If so off to court he should go

Very sad news, so sorry to hear. Best wishes for a full recovery
  5. Thieves suck, hopefully in prison
  6. Good time to count your many blessings and be thankful we live in Canada. Best wishes to everyone through this silent storm
  7. Ive suffered a lot of failures too. More engine meltdowns than I can count. The scariest was during a loooooooong water crossing in Northern Ont on a Mach 1 where the PRS boot was cracked and powder snow was getting in and caused the clutch to suddenly slip, over rev'd it and burned the motor down. Standing on 1" of cracking ice trying to figure out a way out of there, not too fun lemme tell ya. This was a dumb situation furthered by our so called guide at the time making a dumb decision. It was my first time in the area I had no idea what we were riding into. Fortunately aside from the engine, no one was hurt that day. I put a stud through the heat exchanger on my brand new MXz second ride out up in Cochrane. Melted the pistons a few mins later,, first day of holiday yippeee! I've had torsion springs fail a couple times, one wrapped up in the track so bad we couldnt move the seld. That was near Bancroft. Its part of this sport especially with two strokes
  8. Tragic loss. Condolences to the family and friends, RIP
  9. I'll be even more BLUNT! Hey can manufacturers WAKE UP and innovate rather than wait to be regulated, create the standard by researching legal DB requirements and get out in front of these issues before Gov't or law enforcement needs to be involved. Market that your products meet legal DB requirements and show off the tag YOU CREATE before someone creates it for you etc etc etc. Snell is simply a family who lost a son to a crash they blamed the crappy helmet for his death on. They created a standard, pipe guys ought to be doing the same considering all the flack these damn things are causing the entire sport
  10. I dont see why a standard cant be set for the suppliers to meet and get a certification sticker ( think DOT for tires, helmets etc ) if the can has the tag welded to it its met the legal requirements and thats that. Off road pipes or cans? No tag, ticket the idiot if hes on a trail. Its not that complicated. I dont like the spot check for no reason thing though. My wifes family were whisked off to the Gulag never to be seen again by police with too much power and yes some of you are laughing at that comment thinking something about how ridiculous etc etc etc but let me tell you the police there didnt hold elections on getting this power, the people willingly went along with random stops at first, then random paperwork checks, then random house inspections to check for illegal things reported by "someone" who sources cant be revealed during an ongoing investigation and then BAM, rights gone, off to the gulag you go and NO WRITTEN HISTORICAL RECORDS OR ACCOUNTABILITY by the state. Its all hush hush the state is super great and everything is better blah firggity blah. DONT give up freedoms even if you dont like them, work around giving them up to the LAW and find a smarter way forward
  11. This. Push back intensely until this is established and the aftermarket will comply and they can keep selling their stuff. The Government peeps do take the easy road, DON'T MAKE GIVING UP FREEDOMS EASY!!! After all this is a freedom. Be the squeaky wheel here and be respectful and intelligent about it. I dont like the loud cans anymore either but as power goes up so does decibels its a fact. There are ways to tune a muffler to compliance at pretty much any power level, to practically any DB level its only a matter of cost, and WEIGHT. Two things no one willingly asks for more of
  12. Renegade 850 turbo 200hp is my guess
  13. Who authored the changes? Who ALL within OFSC knew about these changes and when?
  14. Remember, FIGHT every ticket. Also keep in mind that fear is the game here, people want everyone to fear them or the law hence all the blame+threat stuff going on. Smile, wave, ride safe at your speed and take any tickets to court and let anyone who doesnt like it whistle. Im not promoting speeding either Im promoting safe fun riding and suggesting watching the speedometer or stressing actual speed traveled is one of the most unsafe practices anyone driving anything can do. Stay focused on your operation of the vehicle is PRIORITY ONE. Look back a few years at the soft 120kph speed limit. Cops did NOT want this but one trip down 407 at any given day and the limit is 120/30 and every person driving that speed is essentially VOTING for that speed as safe. The idiocracy of red tape admin limits vs actual limits has been ignored and abused for far too long. As other threads where we discuss the flat 50 speed for sleds its all wrapped up in insurance issues more than anything else. Dont let it get into your head
  15. I like this, simple and true and relative to each rider/machine combo. Well said
  16. Insurance ruins all fun Although American, this applies well to today; The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. Theodore Roosevelt
  17. Speed is relative to time, place, and circumstance. Thats all it is and ever will be by pure definition. There is no blanket formula for too fast for anything, unless you consider immediate excessive BLAME a speed problem because I sure do. Blame blame blame blame blame is EVERYWHERE right now its biased far past the point of reason. It exists in a cult like fever where most people have extremely itchy trigger fingers on the ready to blast BLAME on anyone for anything. The reality is the worlds finest drivers crash, often. Its not always speed or excessive anything either take a look at Schumacher, guys out for a laid back ski with his daughter and suffers extreme life altering injury yet in his historic racing career driving faster than anyone during his time? Not a scratch. Speaking of formula one Jackie Stewart says speed doesn't exist, until you crash. Prior to crashing its a perfectly harmonious experience of motion and control. George Carlin had a funny quote on driving where anyone slower than you is a moron and anyone faster than you is a maniac. More than likely what this thread is about
  18. All the time. I get eczema anywhere clothing abrades my skin. It gets extremely itchy if I dont use lotion. I have some cream for spots that get bad from the doc but gentle soap, low water pressure in the shower, and aveeno lotion immediately after does wonders. Elastic socks or seams in cotton clothing seem to be the worst for me.
  19. I second that nod to Mark @ Plazek, great guy and good place to deal with
  20. Those railroad guys are being right railroadasholes lately and it aint just sleds. Someone out there, REAL EM IN this is nutz
  21. This is genius imo. Whenever a BIG engine debut happens it always goes into something to test in in first. Look at Chevy when they replaced the small block and the LS1. The LS1 was in development for years and it debuted in the Corvette only first, then the Camaro for two years. This is so owners can beat the snot out of them before they put the LS1 into the market that really matters for GM. Their trucks. The Vette LS1 was 97, the Camaro 98, the Trucks not until 99. It makes perfect sense to see a similar arc here with the turbo two strokes for ski-doo and considering all the revo9lutionary talk from Doo over this I would think we are going to see a lot more turbo options coming soon in both 600 and 850 models. My guess is another 1000cc MachZ turbo two stroke in at 220hp is already in test mode and 850 turbo flat land sleds are being tested to their limits right now which really isn't about the turbo its about the limits of the fuel and the reliability needed to warranty them. This is why I said genius in my first comment they have developed some sort of rapid shift barometric controller to the turbo so Doo is onto something big here tech wise that is likely to improve performance, AND efficiency as they move forward. Bravo fellas, C’t’au boutte!!!
  22. An OEM two stroke turbo, im impressed this is basically a Brian Holtzman 850 for the mountain crowd which really is the ideal test bed, those guys run to the bars all day every day and that data will be extremely useful for the following models im sure will launch if/when this becomes proven durable. I have to think they put more R&D into the new Rotax two strokes than they let on because turbos are very punishing and two strokes are already running ragged edgy compared to four strokes. My guess is the cost is due to limited production and an ins policy for warranty issues that are certain to arise. I think the entire effort here is both ballsy, and wise. Sorting our turbo two strokes that run reliably will put SkiDoo over the top imo. Gotta wonder what the max reliable power potential is going to end up as? Two thumbs up from me on this approach, just be sure to stuff this into a Renegade chassis too for us Eastern riders. Thanks
  23. Been there before myself. Now I set boundaries and terms on any transaction be it borrow/lend/buy/sell i set boundaries on the outset. Makes life a lot easier and doesnt upset anyone who may think different after the fact than you. The last time I did a favor without boundaries was a friend who was getting divorced. His wife was non working so she got the house. I let the guy move into my place to help him out. A year and a half later, RENT FREE I was getting po'd because there were no boundaries set it made it hard to push him out. I was traveling a ton with work at that time and arrived home with wife ( no kids then ) a day early and came in to find the guy cranking the hell out of my stereo, smoking inside the place too. That was the last straw and he was out within the week. I hardly ever see or hear from him anymore either. No good deed goes unpunished.
  24. These events are not happening at levels to suggest there are not resources in place for this. OPP chase sleds with Helicopters for crying out loud plus a 15K fine is a GUARANTEE of court date, NO ONE is paying that on the nose and that means a full court day for the officer/s involved. A quick 1hr drive with the perp to the farm or property in question with a cel phone to record is much cheaper, less police resources, applies EQUALLY to the idiots and the plain ignorant ( who I fear are the main problem ) and this lesson taught will not be forgotten either. Heavy fines is not the way to prevention, its only going to stop re-offenders and marketing a message of heavy fines etc as a deterrent is also VERY expensive and a huge time suck. Put the police to WORK doing service again. Off ass, knock on doors, hear farmer explain,. apologize and have it written for second offense? 15k no arguments here
