  1. Nothing directly on the A, except a Subway. You're behind it when you're in the M+R feeds parking lot. Short 5 minute walk from there are 2 restaurants. All 3 are on Raglan Street. The green line is A trail. Hope this helps.
  2. Excellent post TD. There's not enough time to groom and setup the trails with the amount of traffic they are seeing. No way, no how.
  3. On the bold, that's easier said than done sometimes. They aren't as likely to stop long enough to get a picture. I tried before, the guy pins it and over the hill he goes almost head-on into the second groomer chugging up the icy hill. Was a close one, just not close enough so I could get another chance to take that picture.
  4. I have run out 2 1/2 times. Twice on trail and once as it made it on the trailer, that was a close one. Two times on trail was less than 3 kms from the pumps. All were on my 03 Rev, less than 100 miles per tank. Fun sled, god awful range.

I'm on the other side of the coin, kinda. I don't enjoy the sport as much as I used to, or at least not as much when riding around home. I do enjoy getting away to somewhere different, and half the fun is just getting there, for me anyway. I can't do the 7-8 hours every year, but enjoy it when I do.
  6. Wish them good luck with finding help. We had posted the same on our club sites. Still the same group that came out this weekend. Got the old responses on FB. "I checked the volunteer box when I bought my pass, but nobody ever calls" And " if I wasn't working I'd be there for sure" Our crew of 10 are all family members of Uncles/Aunts/Cousins and my own family, looking after 120 kms of trail. When the older generation finally give up the volunteering, the system as we know it will change. The ones getting the trails ready province wide year after year are getting older and very tired. The younger ones can't keep up with these people.....even if they tried. But hey, they built the trails over 40 years ago, and have a lot to be proud of and probably don't want to see it die off, but the future looks bleak.
  7. Reality of life now. It's always someone else's fault.
  8. As I was mentioning last week. Trail work went "too good". New we would pay for it, always happens. Pic from today in D1. Had lots of rain Saturday, turned to wet snow for a few hours. Good times.
  9. 3 inches in Pakenham. Would have been a whole lot more if it didn't rain most of the day, might be a good thing as it's heavy wet stuff and probably would have made a bigger mess. Evergreens are struggling as it is.
  10. As I'm not allowed to add more likes or thanks, I'll just say THANKS to all those who volunteer time, equipment, and effort. Many wouldn't believe that volunteers do all this AND purchase a permit, or more than one.
  11. Been doing trail work with our club for 25 years or so, only sat on the club board of directors for 1 year way back in '91. Have been grooming the last 7 or 8 years, and perform maintenance and repair on said groomer. Need to find a new hobby, LOL.
  12. I like the guy in the back still wearing the brain bucket. Safety never takes a holiday. Lol.
  13. When we were in Quebec years ago near Sherbrooke. It was a low snow year here and apparently there as well. The atv trails were in better shape than the snowmobile trails. They seemed to cross over each other fairly often though. I missed a cross over and stayed on the atv side until the next opportunity, was the best part of the trip.
  14. Damn. That sucks Soup. We had a similar mess a few years back. We got lost clearing out a trail we've been doing for over 30 years there was that much crap down. Bush trails here in our area of D1 went fairly smoothly this last week, which usually means we will pay for it later.
  15. As always, I forget my password for the OFSC website. Tried using the"forgot password" option for two days, never got an email to reset it. Used the gift card option last night and I was done in less than 2 minutes. Hopefully everything will work better mid November and I will redeem it then. Yeah yeah, should have done this weeks ago. Maybe I will buy early next year, but probably not.
  16. It's been open for a couple of years I believe. Our club (West Carleton Snowmobile Club) is working on another abandoned railway and we are 90 percent complete to get us to the Ottawa River. The river bridge is our next challenge, hopefully next year. At almost 1600 feet across, it is a large and expensive project. It would cross from Fitzroy Harbour to Quyon in Quebec.
  17. One problem, common sense isn't as common as it used to be.
  18. First aid I wouldn't have a problem with. Always good to know, and help someone out of a bad situation who might not have otherwise, priceless. I have taken WHMIS before at work. I'm not sure I see how it's really required for a groomer operator. But am certainly open for your take on it.
  19. Putting the Alpine on the trail this year? LOL
  20. If it wasn't an election year, when all the Fed's are doing the last couple of weeks is spending our tax money to buy votes, then maybe. $230000 towards snowmobiling from the Liberal " greener than the Green party" ? My bet is most of the $160000 money will be gone to someone connected to the Fed's and will be used up in administration costs, but created a job. And the $70000 portion for the "app" will probably be developed by the same ones who are responsible for the Phoenix pay system debacle, and will end up costing billions more.
  21. Jeepers creepers, did he not walk the field first? Looks like it's a tad bit dampish. That's not Revrnd or soupkids in there is it? LOL
  22. 2200 kms on the sled in D1 and D6. No trailering this season.
  23. Still can see some of the small white/red metal triangle signs on one of my trails I maintain. They never showed up that well in the daylight but I see them at night with the groomer lights. I remember putting them up many, many years ago, and to keep getting our signs from getting stolen I used double headed nails. What a PITA to get back off that was. Lessons learned, but some still remain but are now off the edge of the trail by a few feet in places with the growth that has taken place over the years.
